View Full Version : Richie cries real tears in 'EastEnders'

Nana, played by actress Hilda Braid, 73, will die of a terminal illness on Christmas Day.
"Alfie takes Nana to France to visit the grave of her war hero husband William," Richie told the Daily Star. "He's been going along with her wishes but he's still in denial about the fact that she's dying. But by the end of the trip he finally faces up to it."
He added: "The scenes were very difficult to film and when viewers see Alfie crying they will realise that the tears were real. It's the most emotional stuff I've ever had to do. He and Nan finally confess how much they are going to miss each other."
The episode airs on BBC One this Friday.

But Alfie leaves at Christmas. How can Nana die, and have a funeral if she dies on Christmas Day and Alfie leaves at Christmas.

I read somewhere that the tears were a mixture of filming the scene with nana moon and a rememberace of everyone that died in the war.

I still cant beleive that nana's being killed off. Fridays show is going to be sad. And as for her dieing at chrismas you dont want to cry on christmas its gonna be tissues everywhere!!

You could be right there. We know that both couples are leaving, one at Christmas and one at New Year but I don't remember ever seeing any spoilers about which couple leaves when.

Alfie will probably leave just after Christmas I would imagine.

Nigel Harman confirmed on this morning a few fridays ago that Dennis and Sharon will be leaving just after the new year.
This is going to be so sad. I read in a TV Mag that Alfie finally comes terms with the fact that Nana is going to die after speaking to an old soldier.

I agree that it will be very sad. I hate (loathe :mad: ) Alfie and Nana is not one of my favourites, but I can relate to the situation that Alfie is in (i.e having to watch a loved one die in front of you). The face that the episode is shown on Remembrance Day, and is thought to feature the first two minute silence ever to be seen on a soap, will be very moving.

Yeah, I will probably cry during that episode, let alone the christmas day one.
That is really sad. I'm not a massive Nana fan but she's still very sweet.

On the episode this Friday, isn't it just Nana and Alfie the whole episode? It sounds good, I'm glad the BBC's doing something to mark the day on EE - a lot of kids watch the soap and it might teach them something, a lot of them don't even know the significance of the day.

awwwwwww i think i'll be joining him :crying: . be glad to see a bit of alfie. Not really seen him since the whole love triangle and after the business with nana. I liked his character before but he seems to have chnaged a bit. at least we'll see the emotional side to him that i love.

:( Awww bless. These scenes are going to be so emotional not only because alfie is my fave character but because of the significane of it all i.e nana dying and remberence day
