Apologies if this has already been posted - looked but couldn't see a thread.

Former Bill star Mark Wingett is set to reappear in EastEnders, it has been revealed.

The actor featured in the soap in September as Mickey Miller's long-lost father.

Now BBC sources have confirmed he will be returning to the show on a semi-regular basis.

Mark plays Mike Swann, who deserted Rosie and their children, Mickey and Dawn, when they were still young.

Viewers were introduced to him in episodes filmed in France, where he was living with Dawn.

It's a welcome return to TV for the actor best known as The Bill's Jim Carver. The policeman graced the streets of Sun Hill from 1983 until February this year.

Carver even appeared in the prototype of the programme, Woodentop.

Mark's big break in acting came when he was a schoolboy, performing for the National Youth Theatre.

He was spotted by the casting director of Quadrophenia, and won a part playing mod Dave in the infamous 1979 film alongside the likes of Phil Daniels, Leslie Ash, Sting and Ray Winstone.
