Men do get beaten up by their partners and they are laughed out of the police stations, its not right for either partner to hit the other for any reason.
She probably threw something at him and instead of missing him it hit him, its a personal matter and unfortunately because of who they are its plastered over the tabloids.
I dont think any actor would do that kind of thing for a stunt for the programme they are in.

Soap brothers in real-life 'assaults'

The wife of actor Ross Kemp (http://g.msn.co.uk/1ETGBEN0/124980.4?http://search.msn.co.uk/results.aspx?FORM=SRHBDY&q=Ross Kemp&&HL=keywordInt) and the ex-partner of his EastEnders co-star Steve McFadden have been arrested over alleged assaults.

The Sun's editor Rebekah Wade (http://g.msn.co.uk/1ETGBEN0/124980.4?http://search.msn.co.uk/results.aspx?FORM=SRHBDY&q=Rebekah Wade&&HL=keywordInt) was questioned for eight hours over an alleged attack on her EastEnders star husband Ross Kemp.

In a bizarre twist, it later emerged that McFadden's former partner had also been arrested and then released over an alleged assault on him.

McFadden and Kemp play brothers Phil and Grant Mitchell (http://g.msn.co.uk/1ETGBEN0/124980.4?http://search.msn.co.uk/results.aspx?FORM=SRHBDY&q=Grant Mitchell&&HL=keywordInt) in the BBC1 soap.

It was not clear if the incidents were linked.

Scotland Yard refused to confirm the names involved.

But a spokesperson said: "At 9.35 officers attended an address in Haringey regarding an alleged assault.

"A woman was arrested outside of her home address for allegedly assaulting a man.

"She was taken to a north London police station before being released.

You all think this is funny????? Domestic Violence is not funny no matter who does it, if the man retaliates the woman can say she was defending herself.
If he doesnt retaliate we see it as funny, when its not it takes a real man to go to the police and report this kind of thing.
Hopefully more will be done now that two high profile actors have been beaten up, to help those men live with this every day.

Rebekah Wade is the editor of the sun news paper so she wouldnt be jealous of Ross getting attention, she advocates AGAINST domestic violence through the paper.
So this is not a good thing for her too be seen allegedly abusing her husband, the BBC have also denied it being a stunt for EE.
I do think it is a good storyline for them to cover over a year, with a new family??

Siobhan
04-11-2005, 13:54

It would be good if ALL the soaps done this kind of storyline so that men can feel they can go and tell the police, or at least ring up the hotline for it and tell someone else about it.
Instead of us seeing it from the start, show it building up, a few bruises here and there the old addage I walked into something or I dropped the tools. etc.

Chris_2k11
04-11-2005, 14:48
It would be a bit unrealistic if 'ALL' the soaps did it.

I was thinking more Little Mo story line or even more subtle than that, but that would need a really good writer to write the WHOLE story from start to finish. It needs to be brought into the spotlight as 40% of DV's are now women beating up their partners.

wow 40%... didn't know it was that high... I was thinking little Mo too... we all knew before it was shown to us on the screens that she was been beating by her husband and just making excuses for him.. it would be good if it was shown that way and not from beginning as people did get bored with the shelly/charlie story in corrie

04-11-2005, 20:22
It would be true to say that no-one on here advocates domestic violence but this thread isnt about that its about the COINCIDENCE  that two actors who play Bully Boys on TV should on the one day be beaten by their partners. Surely there is something strange about this. I think it has all the hallmarks of a Max Clifford/Elstree publicity stunt gone badly wrong. Then of course I always was abit cynical when it comes to soap stars and their over inflated egos

soapyclean
04-11-2005, 20:30
There is no coincidence, it has NOTHING to do with their characters and EE as the BBC have stated. THeir characters are just that characters they PLAY, what happened was REAL and it goes to show that it can happen to anyone.
Just because they are stars their incidents get in the papers, hopefully brings to the fore what happens in real life.
We were also hoping this brings a good storyline for EE on battered husbands/male partners, whether gay or straight would help the charity that was started up.

Didn't they do it with Steve Owen's sister and whichever one of the Di Marco's she was going out with. I have a memory of her whacking him in the stomach with a frying pan, :searchme:

Yes they did. It was Jackie Owen abusing Gianni Di Marco and I think it did go on for quite a while. It was an interesting storyline while it lasted.

If the police arrested Ross's wife it was obviously serious. She must have attacked him badly, has anyone seen any images of him since the incident. Is he alright? This is a very serious issue. Obviously not many of us know him personally but from what I've seen of him on interviews, he seems like a really lovely man, and everybody speaks highly of him.

I can imagine it must be very embarrassing for him at the moment, with all the publicity and everything. Do they have children? I'm not sure if they do. It must be very difficult.

There's no excuse for that kind of violence.

soapyclean
05-11-2005, 08:12
They dont have children, and the only pic i've seen of him is when they caught him with a baseball cap on and fuzzy on tv.
The Metro was the only one who handled it with some decorum, and actually put information about the 40% of DV being male victims.

alan45
05-11-2005, 08:24
There is no coincidence, .

Im puzzled now. If it was not a coincidence then that must mean an element of planning for the tw incidents to have happened on the same day :hmm:

soapyclean
05-11-2005, 08:29
There was no planning of any kind, Ross and Rebekah had an arguement that was seperate time and place from Steve having a barney with his ex partner. Nothing to do with EE or the BBC.

alan45
05-11-2005, 08:37

Typical another wannabe selling their story because they need some money so what better way, put in some juicy details and rearrange a few things or allow the paper to do the changes and get paid for it.
There was no need too goto the papers, if he had done those things you wouldnt want the whole world to know about it. She'd be hiding and gaining back some self esteem, not running to the first paper to sell a story.

No if there was any truth in it, the woman involved wouldnt keep silent about it she'd have talked to the papers before now. Since she hasnt then she's probably got more dignity than those who sell their stories as soon as possible after it happening ie his ex partner.
Any man who hit a woman holding a child would've been sentenced for child endangerment, why wasnt she done for that?
Just cos they play hard men on TV doesnt mean they are like that off screen.

Kemp embarrassed about marriage reports
Saturday, November 5 2005, 13:50 GMT -- by Daniel Kilkelly

Ross Kemp and Rebekah Wade are embarrassed over recent reports about their marriage.

Wade, editor of The Sun newspaper, was arrested on suspicion of an assault on her husband before being released without charge.

"They are still together, but things are not perfect," PR guru Max Clifford told the Daily Star. "It is very embarrassing for both of them, they have been together a long while and they get on together incredibly well most of the time."

A friend of the pair added, "They've had their ups and downs like any other couple. I've seen Ross getting a real ear-bashing over the phone from his other half on occasions."

soapyclean
07-11-2005, 07:23
So what, who doesnt get an ear bashing at times from their partner/wife they are fortunate it doesnt get reported every time theres a bust up like this.
The only point anyone should be discussing is the DV point, not how many times he's had a tiff with his missus.
If women and men cant keep some dignity by not mouthing off to the papers about whats happened between them then they dont deserve any sympathy for going to the papers and bleating. Since there is a 'justice' system to go through for DV or any other abuse that happens to them.

Those who go to the paper for the sake of going to the paper dont deserve any sympathy whatso ever

ark at the fashion models, if you put a pic of yourselves on here in a not so hot state of dress and allowed us to pick you to pieces would you be so quick to pick on others?
so she thought it looked good in the shop, which it usually does
