im trying to get connor to give up his awfu; dirty dodo during the day and hopefully at night as well but he just wont give it up! ive taken them away but he has a secret stasth hidden in his room somewhere. As soon as he comes home from preschool he hunts for his blankiew and of course with that he has to have his dodo!
anyone have any ideas as to how i get him to give it up?? not worried about blankie really dont wanna take away all his comforts it is just that dirty dodo
help!!!
tell him that there is a dodo fairy just like there is a tooth fairy etc and that she will leave him money or a present for all his dodo's?
fab idea ill be trying that one!!
have tried bribing him before . for every dodod that you give me and give back ill give you a car. What would you prefer dodo or cars?? and the reply was i love my dodo better!! LOL

help him write a letter to santa and get him to put the dodo in the envelope encouraging him that he is a big boy now and big boys don't need dodo's

I was quite mean with ci, debs - told him that he couldn't go to preschool if he still had his dummy because only big boys went to preschool - it worked though :lol: He kept his dummy for the night time for a bit after and then I conveniently lost them when it came to bed time and he didn't miss it after that - it was easier than i thought, but it was a case of making sure it was out of sight and there were none hidden anywhere that he could find!! Father Christmas is a good one though, like has been suggested. :)

definately this is the first year that connor reallay understands father christmas and what happens and i have used him for loads!!! eating dinner, not hitting my nephew, etc etc
god knows what im gonna do after xmas!!

that is where Easter bunny comes in... With charley i am kinda sorted for the year: Santa at christmas, Easter bunny after christmas and her birthday is in september plus during summer I tell her she can't go to the beach if she doesn't behave...

well he hasnt actually asked for his dodo but he is up and down wanting things and just wont settle which i was expecting but it annoying!!
he has wroitten a letter for the dodo fairy and he seems quite happy to do it bless him!

second dodo will be binned tonight!! he got 50p for his dodo last night so im hoping he will give it up easily tonight
took him ages to get to sleep but he did in the end and didnt even wake up for the dodo in the night. and hasnt asked for one today so far eother!

When I moved house.. 9 - 11 years ago I 'left' my dummy there my mum said so I stopped the dummy then.

Con wasnt happy tonight about not having a dodo but he went to bed without and went straight to sleep! refused to do the dodofairy though i put it out for her anyway! thinking i may just chuch the dodo in bin now maybe keep one for tomorrw night to give to fairy

connor a hot wheel freak he has 100s but then i love them too so that why and wilko got em for 60p each at mo. i went into our cutprice and got him a aston martin and a porshce replica which he will love

I was ok with charley.. she went a week with a dry nappy so I took the chance and left them off her.. she wasn't wearing a nappy during the day so she seem ok to be out of nappy

If you find the pull ups dry for at least 3 nights in a row.. try him without them... there will be accidents but he will get use to it..
Ci is still in night time pull ups and he is 3 1/2 debs....

C was early at potty training (his choice) so he isnt yet 3 and has been out his nappy for a few weeks, he wakes up during the night and askes for a wee - I would say that is the real sign (for me) that he was ready to be out his pull up.
We have only had one accident since coming out of his pull-ups but thanks to a nice bed wetting pad from boots it was a quick clean up job in the morning.
Ci is still in night time pull ups and he is 3 1/2 debs....
When he is ready, he will be ready.. don't worry about it... some kids just take time..

this is so my attitude as well - It isnt seen as a medical issue that they are not dry (at night) until they are 5 or 6 so Con has ages to go yet!

I would start to worry about it when they are that age.. I am sure he will be out of night pullups before he gets to school..

CON always ahas a waterproof mattress protector on his bed but at least the bed nats would help as well. i have stocked up on bedsheets and duvet covers ready for the night wetting!!!

I got loads of my sister.. she has been through it just before me..
I found that the bed mats helped as they were still soft underneath the sheets, but also waterproof, so preventing leaks onto the mattress - as we found out at the weekend....

It is the first sign of been a mum, waking at 2/3 in the morning to clean your childs bed of wee or sick...

i look after my nephew in the mornins and he has the worst nappie ever! the smell is vile and i try not to breath too much when changing him! i have to put it in a nappy sack and then a scented bin bag before putting in the bin and you can still smell then i have to open all the windows to get the smell out of my room!! and dont even get me started on his wind!!

yeah he loved it last night but he a bit sacred about coming down the ladder which is great as it stops him getting up and down all night before he goes to sleep!

this morning we new he couldnt get down so we had a half hour lie in!! we could hear him kicking his legs on the side of the bed but just left him there LOL then he started calling can i get down please, which woke me up properly but as it my sleep in day i wasnt getting up and dave woudlntr move his butt. connor then started shoutong WUILL SOMEBODY PLEEEEEEASSEE GET ME DOWN!!! dave had to get him up then!!!
im sure it wont be long before he gets used to theladder

Thanks Siobhan - I was typing away and suddenly thought - crumbs what must I sound like, but then it was the only way of teaching Ci that getting up time was not prior to 7/7.30am - and he has never woken prior to that ever since he was about 6 months old - always sleeps through from 7/7.30pm for a full 12 hrs - its just a shame i still get up 6 times a night lol.

He's got sky in his bedroom now aswell, so when he wakes up the first thing he wants to do before anything else is watch Dora!!

I don't have Sky but my mum does and she tapes Dora and the Wiggles for Charley.. I have to watch the same stuff over and over and over.. to make matter worse she also got Charley a barbie DVD and that is all I have to see

Yeah, they get repeated, though I don't think quite as much as cbeebies does. Ci has gone right off of cbeebies...

wiggles are a fave in our house i downloaded some songs for him too so he listens to them all the time.

Charley only watches bear until he sniffs the screen and the end with luna..doesn't like the bit in between

i been clearing out his room today and going through all the toyboxes i have found 5!!! but ive just chucked them in the bin he never asks for them now anyway so i thought tough ill just chuck but yeah what a great idea!

Marley loved watching the singing kettles when she was a baby she had to take the videos with her when we went to my sisters or friends house so she could watch them there
i think i may have the strangest.....................my brother (he is 18 next week!!) loved watching adverts!!! we used to tape them for him and he would sit there for ages just watching them!!!!

when connor was a baby he loved the adverrts he used to play and then as soon as the adverts came on he would stop and just watch tv till they had foinished!! my nephew is the same now

when marley was a baby we used to put her in one of those baby swings that clips on the top of the doors and put the music on she would bop and bounce about for hours. it was fab
tell him to leave them for santa to take for the baby reindeers along with a carrot for rudolph????? the dummy fairy is a good thing though and that worked on my lil bro! just leave a lil pressie in return and u cant find them and bring them back because the dummy fairy took them not u!
