DC Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) arrives for his first day at Sun Hill and DCI Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) pairs him with a reluctant DC Zain Nadir (TJ Ramani) on an attempted robbery case. Zain snipes at Mickey, saying that he got his old job back as he is the DCI’s golden boy and warns Mickey not to get above his station. Zain says he prefers to work on his own and won’t be taking any orders from him, leaving Mickey gob-smacked. Still sneering at each other, the men split as Zain goes off to make further enquiries leaving Mickey to check CCTV. Zain is soon forced to eat his words when he realises Mickey is game for nailing the suspect through somewhat dubious means. Jack, unaware of what Zain and Mickey are up to, is silently pleased when the DCs celebrate their success.

Inspector Gina Gold (Roberta Taylor) and Sergeant June Ackland (Trudie Goodwin) decide to take a closer look at PC’s Amber Johannsen (Myfanwy Waring) and PC Honey Harman’s (Kim Tiddy) performance at work. Gina decides she will stick with Amber and June with Honey so they will be well placed to do their up-coming appraisals. Both girls prove they are up to the job and June is also reminded she is a good cop after recent events.
And Inspector Gina Gold (Roberta Taylor) is unpopular when she announces the new twelve hour rota to everyone’s disapproval.

THE BILL is a Thames Television production and a direct commission by ITV. This episode was written by John Milne, directed by Ken Grieve and produced by Lachlan MacKinnon.

PC’s Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) and Leela Kapoor (Seema Bowri) come across persistent young offender, Kyle Bowker (Jack Bence), who is accused of mugging and beating up a man on the street. Aware that Kyle is a bit of a tearaway, Tony finds it hard to believe that violent assault is in his nature and passes the case onto DS
Ramani DeCosta (Thusitha Jayasundera) and DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron).
The pair then find themselves having to make a difficult decision that could affect Kyle’s future family life.

Meanwhile, partners-in-crime, DC Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) and DC Zain Nadir (TJ Ramani) investigate the circumstances surrounding a burning man being thrown out of a moving car. They find he was involved in an explosion at a crystal meth cook-house and, with gentle persuasion from PC Laura Bryant (Melanie Kilburn), PC Lance Powell (Ofo Uhiara) reluctantly agrees to help Mickey and Zain with their investigation. Lance goes undercover at a local gay bar and finds that crystal meth is being dealt there. Michael Keenan (Dylan Brown), the barman, points out the suspected dealer to Lance and successful arrests are made.

As Lance, Zain and Mickey celebrate, Lance’s partner, Mark (Stefan Booth), arrives and announces that he’s leaving the Met.

Bradley (Dane Carter) is upset when Terry misses his important football match. A guilt-ridden Terry is having second-thoughts about his relationship with Lucy (Lisa Stevenson) and tries to cool things but she begs him stay and make of go of them being a family.
