EastEnders star Nigel Harman is the odds-on favourite to be unveiled as the star of new BBC series Robin Hood.
The soap favourite, who plays moody Dennis Rickman in the London soap, is quitting Walford for bigger and better things and has suggested to friends that this new opportunity could be the one to propel him into the spotlight.

Harman is expected to be named best soap actor at the national television awards tomorrow and will therefore come with a proven pedigree, something that many believe will help him beat the competition for the coveted job.
"Lots of names are being considered, but he would bring a tough and occasionally menacing quality to the outlaw," an insider told the Daily Star.

"Nigel would be perfect as Robin Hood."
Many are tipping Harman to land the role because he is also on good terms with EastEnders boss John Yorke who is conveniently heading up Robin Hood.
The eagerly-anticipated adventure series will last 13 weeks and is set to be screened sometime in 2006.

"robin hood, robin hood riding through the glen. Done a *******t killed a rat paralised his men" :rotfl: :rotfl:

I so hope this is true. I am sure I have seen a picture of Nigel as Robin Hood before. John Yorke heading it gives him a stronger chance

The problem with Nigel Harman playing Robin Hood is that as most of the action is set in Sherwood Forest wood anyone notice this wooden actor amongst all the trees

But he isn't a wooden actor, so that wouldn't be a problem would it?

Yes Alan he will be be hard to find in those Nottingham woods.

I wonder what (King) John Yorke has in store. Will he bring Tit 'quivering lips' Dean into it too to play Maid Marian? After all her regular panto season is coming up. Maybe JY will add Patrick Trueman in as a Jamaican Frior Tuck. :searchme:

Nigel isnt wooden, its what his character is he hides everything you dont get past grumpy, sulky and moody. SO Nigel does a great job, but when he smiles its cute :D

Cant wait to find out if he is ROBIN, can see him in tight tights or are they going to the rugged look, how about chrissie as maid marion??? HEHEHE

No prizes for guessing who would play Will Beetroot.

So if NH gets the job they could rename it as Robin Wood and his dreary men

If Sharon gets the job as maid marion would she change the ubiquitous black jacket for one of Lincoln green

Jim Branning as the sherrif of DOTTingham
