I think I would do it... especially if my family were involved.. Pat stands up to him, Alfie did when he didn't know what happen with Jake and Danny... I think he would respect you to stand up to him for a legimate reason and not just to make him feel small...

I would stand up to him no problem, but you never mess with someone like Johnny when it involves his daugther, everything else is just buisness, but Ruby is family. All bullies will protect there family strongly.

I dont know about this. i think i would to an extent. I would stand up to him if i thought it was the right thing to do or if i didnt believe or agree with what he's saying/doing then yes i think i would stand my ground and stick up for my self. But i dont think id go as far as she has gone. i dont think id revel the things that she has if i knew he was like that. i wouldnt tell ruby about his past beacuse he's her dad and he's obviously goign to be different around her than he is with other thugs etc. i dont think id interfere with other people's realtionships and personal lives its nothing to do with me so i will butt out.

its not that i dont think that i wouldnt have the guts its the fact that i dont think its right to go off tellign people about someone just to drive a wedge or get your own way. its playing with people's lives. i would just stand up for my self agaisnt him, i wouldnt be scared of him doing anything to me (well i would at the time if it did happen) but i mean it will show everyone what he is really like and they'll see it for themselves, i wouldnt just go shouting my mouth off.

No I wouldn't stand up to him, in these circumstances. Ruby's relationship with her dad has nothing to do with anyone else. Firstly I wouldn't get involved with him, he's not the kind of person I hang around with, and don't think there would be any case in which I would have to confront a gangster.

If Johnny was hurting somebody I really loved then maybe I would try and help them, but even then I don't think I'd challenge Johnny. I'd find a different way without getting involved myself.

I don't think that I would stand up to Johnny, but thats just me. Johnny is someone who you don't really want to be on the wrong side of and I think Peggy has just made things worse by stirring things up between Johnny and Ruby. It was not Peggy's place to tell Ruby about what Johnny had done and she was just interfering.

No. Peggy is "standing up to Johnny" for all the wrong reasons. She wants "her" pub, and she doesn't care about anybody else getting hurt for her to get it. She isn't defending Ruby because she cares about her, it's because she doesn't want to be seen to back down. She isn't standing up to the playground bully because he's in the wrong - she's doing it cos she wants to be the bully instead (or at least her and her family.)

Plus it's a really stupid thing to do, and it's making her look like a pig-headed moron.
