Darius Danesh has snatched himself a role in a top West End musical.The former Pop Idol finalist is to star in one of the capital's favourite shows, Chicago.

Darius, 25, will be taking to the stage at London's Adelphi Theatre as the crooked lawyer, Billy Flynn - played by Richard Gere in the film. David Hasselhoff, Marti Pellow and French crooner Sacha Distel have all played the role in the past.

The Scottish singer will begin an eight-week run on November 21st, joining Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter as Mama.Darius is remembered for his famously awful rendition of Britney Spears' Baby One More Time during 2001's Pop Idol contest.

After a comeback to the talent show in 2002, he launched a successful solo career with number one single, Colourblind.But his second album flopped and he was dropped by his label earlier this year.

im really pleased for him, he is really talented but record companies and radio stations have their pet singers they are interested in and nobody else will do. hope he does well.
