really  god i couldnt have done that! not for a whole year! i had to tell people, i needed help! :eek:lol. i was always going to my mum and two older sisters each time i needed help. thats why i prefere to be the youngest of three girls. lol couldnt have spoken to my older brother about it and my little one wasnt around. lol. older sisters are a god send, they've been through it all before and had the embarassing stroies to tell so you can avoid the same experiences. lol

if you don't mind taking medication feminex is really good, you can get it from boots

17-10-2005, 22:26
yeah i was gonna say exercise. only i've tried it and it canes! makes things a lot worse for me! why to they insist we have pe at school! dont they know the pain we (I) go through!:thumbsdow

not sure what other things helps other than water bottle which i find do help alot. other than that i say little work as possible, laze on the sofa, feet up watching tv all day/afternoon/morning(whatever)weekend if ya have to! eating loads and loads of chocolate and sleeping! :) thats what i do anyway. doesnt make you completly free of pain but makes you feel happy and a lot better in gerneral. untill you get up and move anywayz!

i get bad back aches as well every now and then with it. about one time in every 3. and a bad tummy about 1 in every 7 or 8. which i suppose isnt too bad when some get it every time, or even in between times.

Jojo

13 at my friends house - got home to discover it (everywhere!!!)

The only problems I have had is being really heavy - turn on a tap for 7 days! and bad cramps (which I found a wheat bag and evening primrose brilliant for). Had lots of embarrassing moments (leaked whilst at an evening do with my dad and lots of older people  ), got burnt due to friction of protection etc, and was never really able to talk about it with my mum/family, so coped on my own - now my hubby thinks i am too open about it in some respects but I'd rather have a son that can be sympathetic towards his girlfriend/wife at this time than a complete pratt :D

I was 12 but knew what to do as my older sisters had explained it all to me.. I use to get really bad pain that I had to spend the first day of my periods in bed and I would vomit.. it got better with time but since I got the epidural for my birth, i suffer badly from back ache now just before I get them

I also suffer from PMS and I am total bitch but then cry after for yelling at people I don't mean too :rotfl:

i was 10 and half and although my mum had always warned me that this would happen never expected it to be that early, I started at school and really panicked, Its been nothing but a nightmare till that day,

I used to be so heavy that i couldnt even go to school/work standing up was like opening up the floodgates, used to be really sick with it aswell, this amount of bleeding then caused me to get anemia (not sure of spelling) so i was always tired, I was then put on the pill at 14 to try and lighten them but then found i was allergic to the kind they put me on causing 6 months of non-stop bleeding!!!! Great, however touch wood now after many combinations of pills i have now found a type that im not allergic to and seems to lighten them but still get cramps but i suppose you cant have everything! Men really dont know what we have to go through !

Bad Wolf

i was 11, luckily it happened at home, but they were that heavy and that regular i became anemic, they were also a nightmare to control- i was running to teh loo every hour- i was on the pill by 14 to regulate things- it annoys me how doctors hand out the pill so often for teenage female problems- "oh you have spots- its your hormones, take the pill that should sort them out"- its almost like they are giving kids an excuse to have sex- loads of people in my school year were on the pill for all kinds of problems

my periods haven't been to bad, but now since i came off the pill (it wasnt agreeing with me) they are bonkersly heavy for a day then goes to hardly anything, which is really annoying as those 24 hours are hell

symptom wise, i get a really dull tummy ache and really sore up top

Luna

I know its difficult but there no need to be embarrssed about it, after all she has them. You could try dropping hints and stuff or write her a note. But I dont think there is any need she's prob waiting for you to broach the subject with her she's probably prepared for it.

two of my mates, and my mum and sister all are on when i am on, give or take a few days. must just be coinsidence i dont see none reason or logic behind it. :hmm: strange though...

I ended writing a piece of work at school which was on wishes - mine was that i wished i could talk to my mum about it, but when she saw it, she gave me a medical dictionary to read about it in!! - Not exactly my idea of talking but hey - its just made me even more determined to be extremely open with my kids and ensure that they know that they can talk to me about anything and everything without feeling embarrassed to....

It is really good for cramps and the good thing is that you can go to sleep with them but unlike a hot water bottle you dont have to be scared of it leaking and they are so much less hassle two minutes in the microwave and they're done

Oh please dont say that my mum has been contanstly bleeding since march - it's sometimes so heavy that she has to get up three and four times a night to change her clothes and bedsheets. The doc's said they cant find anything wrong and there's nothing they can do.

She's constanly lightheaded cant drive somedays (which effects her work) somedays she cant even get out of bed!!!!

Luna..I didn't take after my mom but my grandma,, i am half and half moody and cheerful,, can be quite strange,, I think we are all made differently,, my mom never had any female problems, but me and my 2 sisters did,, so keep an eye on your sisters ( if u have any ):)

Luna

no they didn't want her to have it mainly because they ciouldn't find anything wrong - so she went private and is going in elective - only probelm is mum has always been big so they have asked her to lose atleast four stone before they will operate on her - she's done really well lost 2 1/2 stone in 3 months.

wheat bag (http://www.mothernaturesgoodies.com/index.cfm?RePath=item.cfm?type=22!typesz=2!cat=4!c atsz=1!item=304) This is the cheapest one I have found so far - its £4.50 from this place though there is a £3.95 delivery charge

If you google wheat bag though, quite a few come up....

I have saw those in our puund shop up town

Good for her loosing the weight..I do not know what 4 stone is,, in POUNDS..but I can understand why the doc would ask her to drop the weight, not only is it safer for when she has surgery but also healthier for her to loose.. :)

Thats what my mum is like she bleeds for about 3 out of 4 weeks!!

mum is booked in for a op in a couple of months time, not a hysterectomy but something quicker which will stop her periods.

I started Christmas Eve when I was 9. I screamed to my mum that I was dying, as I hadn't got a clue what was happening as we hadn't had that talk!
Now I'm 29. I've had endometriosis for about 5 years and really heavy long periods (the longest one lastest a bout 13 months, bleeding every day). On waiting list to see the specialist, in March, as things are not funny now, and the blood clots etc I'm not coping very well with. I have to wear black all the time as I never know if I'll have an accident. Pads get very expensive as I can go through 20 pads a day.

My hubby does try and be supportive but with my PMT it's not always easy for him. He does always tell me how much he appreciates being a man.

Tried depot injection and other combination of pills and nothing has worked so far. Now looking at putting in a hormone coil, but not really sure about it, but I guess you will try anything if the pain etc is that bad. Its just annoying playing the waiting game!

Luna
24-10-2005, 10:45
Well they do tell you not to have a coil unless you've already had children as there is a small chance it can cause some internal damage

snapper
24-10-2005, 10:54
Well that's what I thought, but the specialist has advised me to have it even though I haven't had any kids. The last option is a hysterectomy. The way I am feeling at the mo I would have surgery tomorrow. ( I was supposed to have one this summer but they decided to try the coil instead as I'm only 29, but I was mentally prepared for it)

i was 12 when i started and at home. I think im a bit weird i dont have cramps or anything like that i have a bleeding nose before i come on (like i dont lose enough) lol, so i usually just go by that.
When i first started i kept coming on every 2 weeks, which was a bit of a worry, so i went to the doctor to ask for the pill because they control the periods better, but being 12 i was too young so i had these tablets dont know what they are which i had to take three times a day after food which was a total pain. Then when i was finally alowed on the pill i had weight gain and really bad pmt so i cant win really, and i have put up with it ever since..
