Noel Edmonds is to return to TV after five years with a new daytime game show on Channel 4.
The ex-House Party and Telly Addicts host is to present Deal or No Deal, offering prizes up to £250,000.

Deal or No Deal is already broadcast in 40 countries and Edmonds said he was "delighted" to be offered the UK show.

It was a "gripping and suspense-filled game show format", he said. Edmonds, 56, was one of the most popular stars on UK TV from the 1970s to the 1990s.

"I'm really excited about coming back to TV presenting after five years," he said.

In the show, contestants choose from 22 boxes, each containing different amounts of money - from 1p to £250,000 - while pitting their wits against The Dealer.

Edmonds will start filming next month.

Channel 4's head of daytime Adam Macdonald said: "Deal or No Deal is a cracking format and Noel is brilliant in it."

Edmonds' other prime-time hits have included Multi-Coloured Swap Shop and The Late Late Breakfast Show, but he left the BBC when his contract expired in 2000, saying the programmes were "too boring".
