I'll be taking my neice and nephew round the doors as my sister refuses to do it (think trick and treating is like begging for food) cant wait to see what they are dresed up as this year.
Mum also bought the dogs outfit at the weekend (i know i know she's mad!) so she'll be going as a witch with a little hat and cape :D

My 14th Birthday this on halloween, so I will be staying in and looking at my prezzies and cutting my cake :D
Should I admit that on Halloween we turn all the lights off and pretend we aren't home - no - ok :rotfl:
Its not as bad as it sounds - we don't have many door knockers round here anyway, so generally its like a normal evening. :rotfl: I'm not that horrible really!!!

i always get them little miniture chocolate bars in for when the kids knock
my daughter is 10 and she wanted to dress up this year has my neighbour is having a party for the kids so took her to asda she got a witches costume and it cost me £15
i had to get her a adult size because the kids costumes are tiny!
we used to have Halloween Parties but cause the local hall is not big enough or suitable we don't bother now Maybe when the new one hall gets built we will cause it's a shame the kids today are missing out
I'm taking my friends cousin out trick or treating, around to sopme peoples houses of people i know, but he doesn't, so that we're not classed as door knockers! I'll warn them that i'm coming first

Im in the switch the lights off and pretend we are not in camp - my little ones are too little for it at the minute and my son would be terrified by spooky costumes Tango have pumpin faces on their cans and he goes spare when he sees them (he will be 3 just after Christmas!)
i hate the ones with the long faces... you don't know who's behind them

me and my mates went to a halloween party dressed in short skirts lol
I stayed at home and had 35 'guisers' at the door at various times between 6 and 8pm. They were all dressed up and tended to tell jokes although one wee girl of about 3 or 4 sang baa baa black sheep! I ran out of sweets at the 30th (I had made up bags) and gave the last few money.
The kids around here tend to go out with a parent in attendance, and It was funny seeking the father dressed as a mummy and all the middleaged witches!
Although some of the kids say trick or treat they would never dream of tricking anyone!
i went out and watched wallace and gromit film with my friends it sooo funny!!!
i went out and watched wallace and gromit film with my friends it sooo funny!!! I went to see it as well, very funny although differant from the tv, as in some screens you could see finger prints on gromits face, which was a shame. But all the same a very funny film.
lol i didnt notice!!! the lil bunnys were so cute so is gromit, i loved i couldnt stop laughin, the sound they made when they were eatin was funny!!!

Besides, Hallowe'en is over now anyway.
Just been thinking today, as we're decorating the our office, is there anything we could do on soapboards for halloween?
Post you ideas here
I've got a bit of a halloween/fireworks themed competition coming soon. Haven't got around to sorting everything out properly, but keep an eye out in the fun and games forum, and it'll be up soon :D

I will just be celebrating my bday on Halloween :D Can't wait.. The trick o treaters spoil it sooo much =|
I'm going to an early Halloween party tomorrow as Paris Hilton XD I'll probably just be a witch on the actual night though.

Paris Hilton...now that is a scary costume idea  Good choice ;-)
Not changing the idea of redesigning too much, but how about doing the skin; or would that not work?
Be scared, be very scared; Halloween is upon us this weekend. I am going to a party. Any of you have/go to a party and if so, what is your costume? :D

My friends are breaking me out of my house to go to a party/sleepover.
my mum thinks I'm juts going to stay at my friend Evie's for the night.
She thinks that, while me and my friends have to hitchike a half an hour journey to a different town (and im goign to the party as catwoman and wearing a lycra cat suit and leather boots, giving me a height of 5ft9 >:[, which should make walking there fun.
We then have to call one of the guys so they can come and meet us and take us to Nats house.
From then on, its gonna be a party containing alcohol, guys and girls and a sleepover!! :P
oh and there is also a equal number of boys to girls.
but i dont see what my mum would have against her 15 year old daughter going to this party ;)
well, what she don't know can't hurt me!!

Hitchhiking is stupid and dangerous. If you must go to a party without your mothers knowledge you should be sensible and keep safe.
No hitchhiking, limit your alcohol and if you get involved in any hanky panky - keep it safe and consensual. Lads and alcohol, plus no supervision can lead to things that you may regret later.
I would urge you to tell your mum about the party, and to ask for a lift. Even Mums were 15 once.
Ideally, you should not lie to your mum or dad or whoever is meant to look after you and you should NEVER, NEVER hitchhike. I hope you are going to post on here real soon to let us know that you had a good time :)
i can not stand trick or treating.
Halloween is such a stupid ocassion, but each to their own, if people want to hold Halowwen parties in their own houses and invite others, than thats all well and good. What I object to is bunchs of kids knocking on everyones doors begging for sweets.
We take the battery out of the door bell these days and dont answer the door. Why should we give sweets to other children? I dont mind when kids come around for Christmas carol singing, but Haloween, no thank you!
Sorry, rant over! :D :p
A few years ago I had my car vandalised after not opening the door to trick or treaters.... this year I am away on a business trip and OH has to cope by himself
this is the only time of year people let their kids go to strangers houses and beg for sweets... nice tradition int it.
Glad my parents never let me go out

we go to familys houses to and trick or treat never ever to any strangers. Takes so much time driving to everyone, ive just got in with one miserable tired baby and a hyper 7 year old who has had too many sweets!
still they had fun!!
at home we turn off the hallway light shut the front room door and just dont answer!!!

We decorated our flat couple of days ago because there is a competition to win £30 of Sainsbury's (the only supermarket in walking distance!) vouchers and a goody bag.

We also got egged a couple of days ago. On the back window.
Does noone have a halloween tradition in there area? Apart from the American import?
Has anyone heard from our little friend who went hitchhicking the other night?
I am 45 years old (very nearly), and I used to go out guising in my street on halloween.
Everyone did!
Sweets were an unusual treat, it was mainly monkey nuts and apples, and we used to have to sing or recite poetry, none of the two line jokes we get nowadays.
You never got money, and it was NEVER trick or treating - that is an American import.
We used to duck for apples, have soda scones covered in treacle hanging from string to bite from. My dad used to carve a fabulous tumshie lantern every year, from turnip (swede), never an American, cheats game, import of a pumpkin. Can you imagine how long it took to hollow out a turnip - I struggle chopping one for soup!
Halloween has a long tradition in Scotland, but as I say, it has become corrupted by the American version (I wouldn't be surprised if it were Scots who took Halloween to America in the first place - now we have their materialistic version back here!).
Last night I had 5 groups of guisers varying from 3 to 5, so about 20 kids in total. They were all from my neighbourhood, they were all under 12 and they all told jokes. I keep them on the doorstep now, when I was a kid you used to go into the persons house an do your party piece in front of the whole family.
I spent 20 on chocolate, sweets and lollies - I have a little left.
It brought a smile to my face, and I think that it is nice to see some traditions continue.
Of course, it would have been different if they were unknown teenagers trick and treating and throwing eggs. But, I haven't seen any of that here.
Has anyone heard from our little friend who went hitchhicking the other night?
She is on SB now, thankfully.
I'm not a fan of trick or treating. It's the only time of the year parents will let their kids dress up, knock on strangers doors and expect to get something for nothing. At least they sing at Christmas.

when i said hitch hiking i meant it as in walking there. sorry for the confusion people. its what me and my friends say when we have to walk for ages to go somewhere. :P
the party was good. there wasnt any alcohol, the parents had hidden it fomr us. We didn't even have to walk there, we found out the bus goes right past the road her lane is off. I flirted with one guy but it was only to make my friend jealous so she would admit she likes him.
So, it was a good party, nice and safe.
The only thing that i didnt like was when we wacthed horror movies. I am now having nightmares about Scream.
i am very paranoid now. thanks everyone for worrying :}

yeah. All the people down my street are elderly so its not very nice to go trick ro treating. I remember one year, i saw some kids from the year below me goign to egg one of there houses.
I got my sisters boyfriend, who btw is 6ft and really muscly to go and scare them. he walked up behind them wearing a scream mask and went BOO. they jumped a frickin mile. the word must have spread so no-one but little kids and there parents come trick or treating down our street anymore.

We call it guising up here not trick or treating. When I was a kid like Trin we made laterns out of turnips, which was mashed up or made into soup with the pieces that was scooped out. We also made homemade costumes none of these brought from the shop. When we went guising if we got money the the cash was put altogether to buy fireworks for bonfire night. We would make a guy and one of the parents would light the fireworks for us.
That sounds much nicer than the commercialised events we have now. The same with Christmas :thumbsdow:
