View Full Version : Future storylines and issues in EE
With the promising (albeit still very patchy) return to form of EE (minus the France week, which is just cringeworthy :o), I was just wondering what issues and storylines people think that EE could do over the next year or two.
I think it would be great if they covered self harm. I don't think EE has done this before (feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this) and I reckon EE could do it justice. Hollyoaks covered it well with Lisa Hunter and that storyline was quite well recieved. I reckon it would be good if they did this type of storyline with a young male character as self harm is often associated with young females. The storyline would have to be true to the character though and not just done for the sake of covering a certain issue.

Perhaps one of the characters could have something to smile about for once that would be a big issue & culture shock for Albert Square

An IVF storyline would be good :) As long as they didn't drag it out for too long like they did in Brookside.
Sharon and Dennis would have been ideal characters for an IVF storyline but TPTB at EE had to spoil it by creating Zonnis

IVF, Self Harming, Post Natal Depression, Suicide, Spousal abuse, male rape, Inter racial relationships, gender changes, racism, homosexuality, cot deaths and death of children, justice trials (i.e. that someone who commits a crime will be punished e.g Chrissie, Johnny, Dennis), alcoholism, date rape, kidnapping and hostage situations.
I know some have been used before but i would like to see EE use then again with different characters as long as it isn't Little Mo.

I think Billy could do self-harming, I know you don't really find self-harm with people of that age, but I reckon Perry Fenwick could do it really well as he's a great actor. It could start off him just being depressed over Mo, then starting drinking loads more and then just stratching himself a bit but then gradually turns into more and more self-harming and he tries to kill himself but gets saved by Little Mo or one of the Mitchells.

That would be good as Perry has never really had a chance to be at the centre of a good storyline, he has been involved in some good storylines (Little Mo's, Steve and Phil's feud and now Sam being in jail) but it does not centre on Billy as a character.

An interesting idea. You do get people of that age self harming themselves, I have known people who have been through that. Billy is a great character he would do it justice.

The idea should be presented to the writers, do you reckon they would read these boards?

They may do, but I'm not sure they would take our opinions into account. I wonder how they choose their storylines?

I'd say cocain abuse,i know theve had little bits about it,and shown the drug culture with nick etc,but today a lot of young people use coke recreationally, and it takes a couple of years before they become addicted, start getting in dept for it,robbing their parents, selling it themselves, thats when they end up going for cheaper drugs ie crack then heroin,i'd say martin or sonia, cos it would show that ordinary kids, well brought up,who are only doing what friends are doing and think its only recreational can slowly become addicted to coke, especially sonia cos some people use coke to stay awake when working long shifts and nights, also its rumoured that people with professional jobs ,ie health workers who shuld know better areinto coke
