Coronation Street's Shobna Gulati has landed a place in the jungle for the next series of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!

The actress, who plays Sunita Alahan, was believed to be feeling "really down" after being axed from the ITV1 soap and dumped by her DJ boyfriend Chris Nelson.

However, Shobna's spirits have been lifted after being asked to join the popular reality series.

A friend told the Sunday Mirror, "Shobna is keeping her good news a big secret - but she's over the moon. Her whole world came crashing down on her when she lost her Corrie job - and her man too.

"Shobna was in tears when he dumped her because she was too clingy. So you can imagine her relief and joy when she was told the good news about being selected for ITV's I'm A Celebrity. It's just the tonic she needs to get her life back on track again

It normally is, but its never that good. I prefer to watch people that i've seen on other things, makes it more interestng and entertaining
