Mariah Carey is looking for a new home in London.
The American singer is so enamoured of the British accent she wants to learn cockney, and is apparently using episodes of EastEnders to help.
Characters such as Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) and Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) have inspired the 35-year-old star to practise the accent.
She has said: "I love EastEnders and the way they speak."
She's been avidly watching editions of the Albert Square-set soap in her homeland of America, and has asked friends to record episodes so she can keep up with the latest goings-on in Walford.
It's not the first time she's tried ditching her native twang - friends say she can pull off a posh English accent quite well, and used it to greet her audience at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Carey, whose latest album, The Emancipation of Mimi, has put her firmly back in the limelight, is said to be house-hunting in Ladbroke Grove and around Old Street, as well as Kensington and Marylebone.
She keen to find a place where she can write material for her new album - and is reputedly hoping to find a warehouse or loft-style apartment.
Her one worry about moving across the Atlantic is the UK's strict quarantine laws which won't allow her to bring over her beloved pet dog, Jack.
Soap fans will have to wait and see if the singer's passion for EastEnders lands her a cameo role at the Queen Vic.
