Holiday Monday, May 02

Tension is in the air at the Fowlers’, as Martin leaves for Asif’s stag party in Edinburgh. Dot apologises to Sonia for telling Pauline about Chloë, but Dot and Pauline fail to resolve their differences on the matter.

Meanwhile, Stacey arranges a “get-out” phone call for Ruby so that she can escape if her shopping trip with Tina proves too painful, but it doesn’t go quite to plan.

Elsewhere, Patrick and Jim discuss Dot learning to drive and decide that the world was a better place before feminism.

Tuesday, May 03

Ian and Pauline are on a mission to try to track down Chloe’s grandmother’s address. However, they don’t have any luck with the newspaper or the church.

It’s Dot’s first driving lesson and Jim decides to have the lesson in the sitting room. Annoyed with Jim’s methods, Dot heads out to the car but it’s not long before the car breaks down.

Elsewhere, Keith arranges to meet Darren’s teacher but he keeps it a secret from Rosie. Keith learns that Darren is struggling with his reading and writing and he decides to make a deal with Darren – if Darren works harder at school, Keith will learn to read.

Thursday, May 04

Garry and Minty have a lunch date with the two girls they met at speed-dating. They meet up in the Vic but Minty’s date doesn’t turn out quite the way he had planned.

Jim tries to put Dot off having a driving lesson with Derek but Dot is unperturbed. Her lesson with Derek gets off to a bad start and Derek comes close to hysteria at her driving.

Elsewhere, Ian gives Pauline Margaret’s phone number and she calls to try and arrange a date to see Chloe.

Friday, May 05

It’s Sonia’s 20th birthday and she is surprised by Pauline and Derek’s gift. Pauline apologises to Sonia for her recent behaviour and also makes a confession.

Meanwhile, Ruby and Tina bond when Tina reassures Ruby that she isn’t going to infringe on her relationship with her dad.

Elsewhere, Dot has another driving lesson but this time it’s with Jane and they head off to the open road.

Thankyou!
I think it would be fab is Ruby and Tina did get a good releationship going and Ruby starts to look to Tina, and talk to her more. That would be good and Ruby wouldn't hurt as much.

EastEnders bosses are hoping an explosive storyline involving new recruit Billy Murray will prove to be the soap's salvation.

Murray, 63, veteran of ITV1's crime drama The Bill - in which he played dodgy DS Don Beech - joined the cast of EastEnders as 'genial gangster' Johnny Allen, who marked his arrival in Walford by throwing rival Andy Hunter off a bridge.

In the three months he's been on screen, Johnny Allen has proved a popular character with viewers - despite, or possibly thanks to, his hand in getting rid of both Hunter and the Ferreira family.

"He's popular because he's not a stereotype gangster," says Murray. "And people like the gangster thing. I mean, why is Ronnie Kray so popular?"

Since Johnny's wayward daughter Ruby, played by Louisa Lytton, turned up on the Square, chucked out of boarding school for assaulting a pupil and not long after he moved his mistress Tina into Pat's old flat, the club owner's past has slowly unfolded.

Viewers have discovered that his wife and older daughter Scarlet were killed in a house fire little over a year before and that he's trying to protect the already fragile Ruby from finding out about Tina.

"He's actually been with Tina for 10 years and nobody but a few close friends of his know that," says Murray. "Ruby doesn't and he's trying to protect her, and himself partly, from the truth and what it would do to her.

"Johnny's wife knew all about Tina and was very happy with that. But Ruby explodes when she find out. It's what we're filming right now, it's very emotional stuff. And if we get it right, and we are, it's going to be amazing. It's going to satisfy all those critics that have been chipping away at EastEnders' reputation."

When Johnny arrived in January it was being beaten by ITV1's rural soap Emmerdale in the ratings as well as by journalists in the papers.

"I never considered EastEnders to be on its knees," says Murray. "All it needed was better storylines, and it's certainly got those now. They've brought in new people and it can only be good for the show.
