Jojo

The BCG jab is the one for the prevention of TB - so yeah, they're pretty much the same thing - I remember watching my daisy prick like a hawk hoping it would indicate that I wouldn't need it - that is definitely the worst ever jab, and almost everyone I know has a scar from it, including me - don't worry though Gabby, all other jabs definitely don't hurt as much :D :D

Ive been to turkey nearly ever year for the past ten years and have never had any jabs. My Doc actually told me not to bother. Trust me you'll do fine without them

di marco

yeh its always better to be safe. and think on the plus side, when everyone else has those injections at school you wont need them!

Jojo

I've just heard that they are no longer doing BCG's at school now, not unless you live in a high risk area!!!! Has anyone else heard this??

Luna
21-09-2005, 10:25
 your joking

Jojo
21-09-2005, 10:29
No, I got a letter from Stephen's school saying that unless you live in a high risk area etc, you now won't get the bcg at school and will receive it a lot younger. If you then move into a high risk area, you will have to contact your doctors and they will arrange for you to have it then!!

hazey

I've just heard that they are no longer doing BCG's at school now, not unless you live in a high risk area!!!! Has anyone else heard this?? My son left school 2 and a half years ago and when he was 14 (1998), we were told that the BCG wasn't being down and if you wanted it,you had to make arrangement with your own doctor. Which I did. So it has been the case for a long time here in Middlesex

Gabby
21-09-2005, 16:07
OOO, im glad i have it done now:) Do you have to have the tetnus and hepititus at school!!! Didnt know that!:):)

yeh its a booster jab as i think you have them as a baby/little kid then its just redone when youre older. we had them done at the same time and we also had polio done but thats ok as its not an injection but some liquid stuff in your mouth. if youre lucky you get to have it on a sugarcube so you cant taste it but i dont know if they still do that. my sis just had to have hers in her mouth without anything else but my year got it on sugarcubes! :D

i had mine done in about 2002 (well i didnt need one but my year had theirs done then!) and my sis had hers done 2 years later (in 2004). dont know if theyre stopping them in my area though, im sure ill find out if my cousin has his done or not in 2 years time!

Gabby
