Sorry if there is already a thread like this

Heya peeps...

I was wondering who is looking forward to Pride and Prejudice which is out on the 16th September 2005

The story is based on Jane Austen's novel about five sisters - Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia Bennet - in Georgian England

Jane will be played by Keira Knightley who have been in the hole and the Pirates of the Caribbean (might be spelt wrong)

Other people who will be in it are Matthew Macfadyen, Brenda Blethyn.

You might know the story as many year 11 have done it for the English lit

Matthew Macfadyen is gorgeous, I use to love him in Spooks.

Brenda Blethyn is playing Mrs Bennet

Jojo

I'm going to see it tomorrow - dragging my son along, though he is more than happy to go and watch a film with Keira Knightly in it (and he's 12  ) :rotfl: I'll let you know what I think. Didn't realise it though, but the dramatisation when Colin Firth played Mr Darcey - it was made 10 years ago!!!

I'm not a Colin Firth lover to that extent, but Matthew McFadyen was absolutely superb - I'm still raving about the film now to my mum, and want to go and see it again.

Johnny Allen
19-09-2005, 17:02
Great film, Matthew MacFayden is offically gorgeous, I hope to see more of him in the future he made an excellent Mr Darcy.

I'm not sure whether to go see it, do you think its worth seeing?

Trinity
19-09-2005, 17:54
I went to see this (on my tod!) on Saturday morning.

The film was excellant all the actors were great in their parts. OK so The guy playing Darcy wasn't quite as good looking as Colin Firth -but he acted his socks off and made an excellant Darcy.

I think that it is really difficult to compare the BBC Colin Firth adaptation with a 2 hour movie. The BBC were so close to the book because the had 6 hours in which to tell the story.

I though the film was great, i was in tears as you should be with this story.

IMO it was Keira's best performance to date, Whilst the Colin Firth version will always be my fave, this was a great film, and once again can I just say Matthew MacFayden was gorgeous.

Jojo

Jojo

My son said at the end that he felt a bit like a wimp cause he really enjoyed it - I assured him that it definitely wasn't wimpish and that you don't have to watch action films etc just to prove that you are a "real" male.

Don't worry about going on your own though Squillyfer - I might go again on my own soo and there were plenty of people in the cinema when I was there on their own too.

Great - but not as good as the BBC version, it was sublime.I started watching the BBC version on UK Gold over Christmas, but didn't enjoy it as much, though I am not much of a Colin Firth fan unfortunately.

i did like the tv version with colin firth until i saw the film and i have to say the film wins hands down. the film is so good and it makes the tv version seem a little dated now.

Dated!!?!
The BBC version is DEFINITIVE.

Try again Emz - you soon forget it is Colin Firth and are totally seduced by the complexity of Darcy.

Love it.

Loved the film too.

Loved the film too.I should try to one day - I'm a sucker for a love story and I didn't mind Colin Firth in Bridget etc. Maybe I should have watched the original first...

I hate Pride and Prejudice cause I was forced to learn it at school by a horrible nasty nun which is a shame cause both BBC version and the movie look like they can be good but the meer mention of "oh mr Darcy" and i go back to been really terrified of going to english class

ok ive just watched the new version and i would have rather sat throught the 9 hour one!!! Donald Sunderland was the only good thing about that movie his acting was excellent. The girl playing Lydia was terrible!!!!

Matthew McFadden did not even touch Colin Firths performance as mr darcy
