What is wrong with Mac.. Why is so grumpy?

is it because he has they lady staying with him- who has a drinking promblem?
as he found the bottle in her drawer?

Did he have a drinking promblem and if he did when was it?

Don't know what the problem with Mac is, I have to wait for reruns on Gold.

However, Mac did have a serious drinking problem (Scotch) when his youngest son was born with 2nd wife (Kate - who later had an affair with priest, and they split up). I don't think he wanted to be a dad again, and didn't cope with Kate being preggers. He spent some time battling it out, with clinic and AA and seems to be clean presently. It nearly cost him his doctorhood.

Okay according the Doctors website on BBC: Mac is struggling with his alcoholism and is very worried that he might slip up and return to drinking, with Marcia the alcoholic living in his house. He is also finding it difficult to ask for help, or share his fears with Julia or colleagues. So goes to an AA meeting.

He also finds out from a drunken Marcia that Julia aborted his child when they were splitting up when they were married before (Julia was wife number 1 and wife number 3), thats where it left off on Friday.

There are no future spoilers only past ones on there.
