Marty does apparently exist he is to appear at the end of the month. He is to be played by Daniel Scutzman who was in Footballers wives. This came from yesterday's Scottish Daily Mirror.
Also according to Digital Spy three characters are to be axed from River City before the end of the year they are:

Ruth Rossi, Arun Shah and Alice Henderson
