I've just read that emmerdale are doing 2 more hour long specials later this month,1 going up against dens funeral and the other against the alfie triangle, who do you's think will win, personally i think it may finish up a draw,ee will win on funeral day and emmerdale on the other day, emmerdale are supposed to be concluding big storylines also, well 1 things for sure it will show if ee is really on the mend or still in the doldrums

Typical BBC showing repeats. We have all seen Den's funeral before.

Seriously though I think it may well be Emmerdale which comes out on top. After all they start at 7-00pm and make a strong start then people may well continue watching ITV and opt to waych EE on BBC3.

I think Den's funeral will get quiet a few people watching, especially as some people know what's going to happen. I don't watch Emmerdale anyway, it got to boring for me, the Kings were doing my head in.

Eastenders will win with the funeral, I think people will see it just to see Peggy's behaviour, I think the Alfie, Mo and Kat storyline has got so tedious people aren't bothered about it, Emmerdale will win that battle.

Difficult question. Everybody assumes that Dens funeral will win, but it depends on what story EM is showing really. If thats really kick-ass then who knows?!

I've never really thought of Emmeredale as a kick ass programme, so i still putting my bet on Eastenders. *Crosses fingers*

Its could well turn out to be! Sometimes it is.... the Charity Dingle stories were a lot of the time. To me it just depends on what they show

Well it has kicked EEs ass more than once this year in their head to head contests and it has very strong storylines up against the Molfie/Kalfie snorefest and Dens second funeral

It must just be me then, coz i don't get the excitment with Emmerdale. I used to watch it years ago, with Kim and Frank and the plane crash storyline and for a few years after that, but i just got bored of it in the end. Maybe it's just me :searchme:

Abi

Presisly. It just has to be a half decent story to beat them!

Well of course we all have different expectation from our soaps. I am bored with EE at the minute and it used to be I would never miss it

I'm like it with Corrie, i go in and out of it, but some how i never seem to get bored with Eastenders, yes sometimes with storyline and the occasional character, but i hardley miss an episode.

Thats a good point. if people watch emmerdale at 7 they may be so inot it they they'd rather watch the end of emmerdale than turn over for Eastenders.

how ever i think Eastenders is and has always been far far better than emmerdale and think it will come out on top. Dens funeral will be a good story alone with the alfie thing (Though i dont like it) i think Den's stoyrline has done really well over the past weeks and dont think it'll drop now!

Same with me.. i'm always going in and out of Corrie, Hollyoaks and Neighbours though i am sure that Corrie is a complete no now i will never wath that againg. but i've always watched eastenders evern when people said it wasnt very good. i hardly ever miss and episode unless i am on holiday beacuse when i go out i tape it or watch it on sunday. i could never got board of eastenders.

I'm an Eastenders and Neighbours girl, and the others i watch occasionally, but very occasionally for Emmerdale.

You gotta remember as well that only a small proportion of people will actually know whats going to happen at his funeral. Loads and loads of people dont try and find out spoilers, so as far as they are conserned, its just another episode. Emmerdale starts earlier, so its more than likely if they watch that and enjoy the first half, they would stick with it, rather then turn over, especially if they dont know that its going to be a good episode of Eastenders.

Jessie Wallace
10-09-2005, 19:30
Yeah, but it you read your tv guide it tells you certain bits, so would know something was going to happen.

Abi

Only tiny snippets of it.

xXxJessxXx
10-09-2005, 19:32
yeah i think your right. i mean like i already said they might be hokked on emmerdale and not want to turn over. if i did watch emmerdale i think thats probably what id do if i thought it was just a fueral

Abi
10-09-2005, 19:33
and unless you were such a massive fan that you would serach for spoilers, it would just be a funeral to them

NO contest!!

EE has been great the past couple of weeks - i think more people will be interested in the end of the den and molifie storylines than anything emmerdale could come up with!

I agree... lets hope so any way. i think eastenders has been far better than emmerdale over all any way. its had better ratings than emmerdale for yeasr and years. its only been a few months the other way round, so what can i say... eastenders is obviously better.

Does anyone know if the BBC's figures take into account the number of people who watch EE on BBC3?

because that is what will happen here - I will watch Emmerdale and catch EE at 10 (which is better for me as the little ones are tucked up in bed)

alan45
11-09-2005, 09:58
I will be watching Emmerdale because in IMHO opinion it is the better of the two. It has been consistently good for months now and the storylines are gripping> Fortunately I have one of those new fanhled devices called a video recorder which allows me to tape EE if I want to watch it later> Therefore I am able to watch bothe the consistently good Emmerdale and the much improved EE. Simple eh :)

not sure. i think it has its own rating thing beacsue i remember looking at some rating figures before for the back holiday week i tink it was and it siad ratings for EE beat emmerdale and it said by how much then it said about the ratings for BBC3, so i dont think they are added on... i could be wrong though.

i just looked at emmerdale spoilers, and den's funeral is also the day of zoe's trial but says nothing about it being an hour long, hmmmm. if this was an hour long, i think emmerdale would win it, because viewers don't actually know what's going to happen but with eastenders they do and it's not like it's the first time peggy's ever done something out of the ordinary.

i don't even watch emmerdale normally, so if its up against EE it has no chance!

I absolutely agree with you..!! I know I always watch Emmerdale from 7 and then swith over to EE at 7.30.. but I know lots of people who just stick with Emmerdale, cos they've got in to it by that stage!! I really do think that that's what the majority of people do!! It would be interesting to see what the outcome would be if they started Emmerdale at the same time as Eastenders. Put the both of them together for 1/2 hour slots each, and see what the outcome is then!! I really hate the way Emmerdale always brags when they win the ratings war against Eastenders...but really they are cheating!!!

I think Emmerdale will win out.. the reason is the episode that runs against Dens funernal is the climax of the Zoe/Scott/Attempted Murder/Rape storyline... nobody knows how it finishes.. it will also be the end of the 'who gets Home Farm story and finally the end of Leah Bracknells (Zoe) time on the show... it is going to be a great episode.. if it is even half as good as the episode when charity left it will do the business in the ratings.

having said that i do want to see the 'Peggy' incident in Eastenders but as that will only last about a minute i can record that and watch it later on.

when charity left emmerdale and eastenders put 2 eps together (chrissie threw den's clothes out) emmerdale won, that was perfectly fair.

it notthat long ago when den set phill up,emmerdale was against ee that time and lost out big time,so did the bill cos ee was on 7.30to 8.30,the bill was on its normal time and emmerdale did a special from 7.00 to 8.oo ,ee has a long way to go to match the quality of that episode

With the build up to Zoes trial coming to a head and the major storyline invoving the Kings I think Emmerdale will have the edge

Abi
13-09-2005, 20:08
Both stories should be good theoreticly (sp?), It could be either of them. I know who i think deserves to come out on top, so lets just wait and see. From what i've heard from this thread about what might be happening, they both look fab, i'll have the video recorder at the ready!

its a hard one really cause people who have sky free view or ntl can watch eastenders
at 10 on bbc3 and you carnt watch emmerdale till the next day and then most people are at school or work.. i think emmerdale will get the viewers cause of this reason.
