EastEnders star Louisa Lytton is one of the 32 candidates celebrating their GCSE passes at Sylvia Young Theatre School, where all pupils entered received at least five passes grades A* to C.
Just like her character in the BBC soap, Ruby Allen, Lytton passed her exams with flying colours, attaining six A grades and two B grades. The results come on the back of a report from independent school inspectors, who visited the Sylvia Young Theatre School in August last year and found there to be a good standard of academic education, as well as good care of the students and vocational training that was excellent in a range of disciplines.
Said Young: βIt proves you can achieve academically as well as vocationally with the right attitudes from staff and students. It just means a lot more hard work. It has always been our policy to ensure that academics were considered for the long term future to keep the doors open.β
The Independent Schools Council inspection, which is fully supported by Ofsted and the Department for Education and Skills, stated that the theatre school created an atmosphere that discourages unrealistic achievement. Young said this was particularly satisfying.
Arts Educational School London also saw its 19 GCSE pupils achieve at least five A* to C grades in their exams. Of the 28 candidates at the Arts Educational School in Tring 96.4% attained similar grades, while Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts saw 79.3% of its 29 GCSE pupils do the same. Elmhurst School of Dance and Performing Arts had 88% of its GCSE entrants attain five or more results at the top four grades.
Well done to Louisa! :cheer: Not sure if I would like my results published on the internet though!
