Ok this thread has been created for fun,, look back, and think how many things your mother made you do or made you so embarassed..
Ok now back when I first started dating, I had a date with one of the guys I had a super crush on for years. He asked me out to the drive in movies, now get this, mom says to be a proper young lady, wear a dress, stockings, heels and matching purse,, Ok I did,and the guy took it as an INVITATION to grope,,spent the first 30 minutes fighting the guy off, and ending up going to the bathroom and calling to have my mom to come and get me,,, end of !!!! However 4 years later I married the guy.. go figure :wall:

my parents had just bought a post office, with a flat above it for us to live in, so sje was having a meeting with a retail manager and shouted me down to make coffee for them, so I came down the stairs and fell, landed at her feet and was complaing about the pain in my feet - she told me she didnt have time for this - just make the coffee - so I did - with my 4 broken toes!! oouch (I was 17 at the time!)

I had a pair of short dungarees when I was about 16 - they were very stripy and I loved them - my mum always said I looked like a deckchair in them - so one summers day I was down in mums shop, when one of the clerks from the local bank came in they were running a summer promotion and he was dressed in shorts and tee-shirt - so my mum offered to lend me to him as a deck chair!!
I was so imbarassed as the clerk was one I had a huge crush on - he was lovely!!

Ok here is the story as promised... my moms best friend is also her beautican, her son was coming home from the army, I am home from boarding school and 16.. tanned, bleached blonde and tiny compact little body ( sighhhhhh ) any way,, mom tells her buddy that they should see about fixing me and the son up for a big party they are having,, soooo Mom gets me a new outfit,,and tells me she has this wonderful guy she wants me to meet and I would just LOOOOOVEEEEE him,, any way I go along with it since i was sorta in between boyfriends ( ok I am a tramp)
turns out this guy is gorgeous ok,, but hes not interested in me cos i am 16,, but Mom and her friend are pushing us together for the evening,, and mom cooing over me and the friend cooing over the guy and we were like oh gawdddd.. any way he notices my other friend there asks me if she was unattached,, i said yea,, and got those two talking,, then he has a cousin there fixes me up with him,, I can tell u both of the moms were NOT PLEASED with either of us.. oddly enuff the day I got married the guy came to the bridal suite and brought my flowers, turns out he owned the flower shop I ordered my wedding flowers from, we both had a big giggle over that nite ( oh he married my friend too )

My mum was fairly ok, not not embrassasing, but fairly strict
My mum used to drag me to the k shoe shop in Paisley and buy me patent leather black or brown court shoes when I was about 16. Everyone else was wearing hush puppie flat shoes with a patten cut out of them I looked like I was 35!
I still have a phobia about shoe shops and I only buy shoes about once every 2 years. I buy, like, 3 pairs in different colours and then where them until they are done.

When I was about 10, I was dragged to a shoe shop to get some new school shoes, which I hate (I can not stand shoe shops! They're sooooo boring). My mum saw a nice pair, and told me to take my shoes off and she started to put the new ones on. She kept trying to force my foot into this shoe, and it wasn't going at all - Despite my protests! I think she thought I was just moaning, and so she carried on until I said 'I think there's something in it.' Turns out she hadn't taken out the little balls of paper they put in the shoes to make them hold their shape. :wall:
Argh just today she was terrible!!
Went past a load of firemen doing a charity car wash and I said that I had already washed my car but wouldnt mind them washing me...what did she do... she went over and told them.
Thats not all, was shopping for underwear, went to the tills and was served by this young lad and she comes out with "you shouldnt be serving us really touching that underwear being a bloke and all.... bet you are loving it though, bet you are sorry that my daughter isnt in it though" and i was just dying, the lad was wetting himself. Im 21 my mum shouldnt embarrass me like this at my age should she??!!
I would rather go to the dentist than buy new shoes. I would rater work late. I would rather clean the bathroom (and I don't normally do that 'cos I have a cleaner). I would rather do just about anything, except jump out of an aeroplane or bungee jump.
I have a phobia of heights too, but I don't think I can blame that on my mum!

Absolutely. This has has a lasting impression on me. It is a long time since I was 16! In addition she used to make me wear coats with little capes, you know, like sherlock holmes. Now I never where a coat unless it is snowing, and asometimes not event then!
God - what am I unconciously doing to my kids!
