i think they wanted the viewers as well as everyone on the island to think clare's baby was the one they were after but the end of the season finale proves that it was in fact walt they were after all along when he gets snatched off the raft bit of a cliffhanger ending wonder what it was that jack kate and co found/saw at the very end, wonder if either jin michael or sawyer will servive as they are meant to be so far from the island they wouldn't be able to swim that far especially with sawyer wounded

cant wait for season 2 to start nexy week

although it is just off the island i think that it is still the same 'forces' that are after walt that were after him on the island (not clares baby as was thought)as they definately aren't trying to help them after what they did they made it clear all they wanted was walt. we already saw that walt has a special gift

he can make things happen they haven't really explained much yet but the bird was the key thing to us finding out i presume it will be developed in the second series when they are trying to find walt

no it hasn't aired in britain yet according to it he has some special powers that he can make things happen (by thinking them i think but im not sure) it gives an example of him arguing about a bird then something happens to it - cant remember the details he also burns michael's first raft although i am not sure if he does this the normal way but he does it because he wants to stay on the island as it feels like home to him.
