Betty Applewhite came to Wisteria Lane with something to hide, and we're going to find out exactly what she's hiding in the season premiere,
Richard Burgi (playing Susan's ex-husband) is a series regular in season 2. Maybe this is the new Edie relationship that Susan fins uncomfortable?
"I'm hearing that Rex really is dead. His funeral will have an open casket, and it’s open long enough for a darkly comic storyline involving Bree and Rex’s mother fighting over what kind of tie he will wear. I've heard that Kelly Monaco will be on the show."
Susan will find out about Zach's relationship to Mike. Gabrielle finds a way to convince Carlos the baby is his. Bree will fight with Rex' mother (played by Shirley Knight). Edie will start a relationship, which does not sit well with Susan
Marc Cherry: "My hope is that we can continue to examine not just the big stuff but the small everyday stuff, that I think is so interesting and fascinating about women's lives. We've taken things to such operatic proportions toward the end of the year, it will be nice to reset and settle down a little bit
Susan survives her season-ending hostage ordeal - sets out to unravel the mysterious past of frosty new neighbours Betty Applewhite and son Matthew. Little does Susna know "Applewhite" is a name assigned to them by the federal Witness Protection Program
Jealousy will rear its ugly head in the Scavo house after frazzeled Lynette returns to work and hubby Tom mananges the household and kids far better than she did! Also in the works: an unexpected friendship betwen Tom and vixen Edie that'll have Lynette worrying
Rex Van De Camp is REALLY dead! But just because he suffered a fatal heart attack in the past season's finale - triggered by jealous druggist George - doesn't mean we've seen the last of him! Look for Rex in flashbacks. With Rex out of the way, widow Bree realises she no longer needs love sick George hanging around and she lands a new suitor, who naturally has a very bizarre past. Still, George won't be gotten rid of that easily!
Metcalfe's departure will obviously curb the appetite of man-hungry Gabby, who will find that juggling hubby Carlos and John and being pregnant by she's-not-quite-sure-which-one isn't enough to satisfy her high-octane libido. It seems that she requires yet another lover.
We can expect an episode dealing with how all the Wisteria Lane residents came to live there
ABC posted a spoiler-rich photo on its website that sorta reveals what's going on inside the Applewhites' house. The pic — from a scene that was cut out of the season finale — shows Alfre Woodard and her son taking a tray into a locked basement room that looks a lot like a dungeon. Clicky Clicky!
Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry has revealed the early storylines that will engross viewers once again when the infamous black comedy returns to screens this October. Cherry has told the New York Times how the story will pick up 8 months after the 1st series' finale.
"We return to Wisteria Lane in the midst of the action. Each of the main characters are trown straight into mix, with Gabrielle, Bree, Susan and Lynette each carrying off their individual stories."
Cherry also told the Times that one of the main characters from the original series will not be returning, (Mike Delfino being shot by Zach anyone?)
"Gabrielle is now living alone, realising how much she misses Carlos [her husband] and is also on the brink of giving birth. Bree has recovered from the initial shock of Rex's sudden death and is in the midst of trying to discover the true culprit behind his death. Lynette has gone back to work, leaving Tom to look after the children, but she soon discovers how much she truly liked being a housewife. Meanwhile Susan is recovering from a massive shock."
Marc, who created the award-winning series after being inspired by his own Mother, explained that the 2nd series won't focus around one particular storyline like the 1st.
"I want the 2nd series to be a series of smaller storylines that all link to one another that finally wrap up nicely at the end... I don't want this series to be as long, either. There's a lot of ground I want to cover in this series too. I want to reveal further secrets about each of the housewives, including the newest edition to Wisteria Lane [Diedre, who featured briefly in the final episode]."
Thus far, all the main actresses including Teri Hatcher [Susan], Felicity Huffman [Lynette], Marcia Cross [Bree], Eva Longoria [Gabrielle] and Nicollette Sheridan [Edie] have signed up for a further series, but there has been no official word on any other cast members."
Betty Applewhite came to Wisteria Lane with something to hide, and we're going to find out exactly what she's hiding in the season 2 premiere says Kevin Murphy, co-executive producer.
Rex is really dead. Marc Cherry and Steven Culp say so themselves. With Rex gone, Marc Cherry tells me "a new man will enter Bree's life and he will have a shocking secret of his own." Cherry also confirms that a new suitor will be introduced for Gabrielle who will further "complicate the relationship between her and Carlos."
Desperate Housewives villain Roger Bart -- who plays the show's pharmacist with a homicidal bent, George -- will join the hit ABC series full-time next season
According to Nicollette Sheridan: "Edie will make it into the next season, yes, and so will her house," she tells me. "Her house will be built next season, and her 6-yr-old son that we heard about in the pilot is going to come visit." Jesse Metcalfe is also coming back next year
Series creator Marc Cherry told me that he's constructing a prison set for Ricardo Chavira to shoot his scenes in. "He'll be in there for a while," Cherry said. "We'll see him pulling strings from inside the jail cell."
Alfre will be central to the prevailing mystery of next season
The young family are set to appear in season 2 also.
The actress who plays Mary-Alice Young is contracted to appear in seven seasons
Alfre Woodard joins Desperate Housewives fulltime in season 2 as a new neighbour
Doug Savant, who plays Lynette's husband Tom, will be a regular cast member next season
According to James Denton (Mike Delfino), next year the show will be around more often. "They're bringing us back early because they want to do more episdes," Denton told the Chicago-based Northwest Herald, when asked about the length of his summer hiatus. In addition, he said the stars of the show are going to use the break in filming to "do international press." Although Denton did not mention by how many episodes the second season will be extended, it will likely be only a few more episodes
