Coronation Street's Tim Metcalfe is reunited with a face from his past next week, which rocks his marriage to Sally ? and ends up making him question a murky chapter of his past. The cabbie's head is turned when he recognises a customer as Trisha, a girl he had a thing with when he was a teenager.
As further revelations come to light, and Tim opens up over their past, it turns out that their relationship was far from straightforward. Will Tim face up to the upsetting reality of the situation?
"When Trisha Pinkerton gets in Tim's taxi, he can't believe it," our Corrie source explains. "They haven't clapped eyes on each other in almost 40 years.
"At first, Tim enjoys reminiscing about his schoolboy conquest, until unsettling details emerge of the retro 'romance'. Turns out the memories might not be as happy as Tim thought?"
It's Tim and Sally's wedding anniversary, but Mrs M allows her hubby to go for a pint with Kevin Webster to cheer up his best mate after his recent marital strife. In The Rovers, Tim is pleased to see Trisha for the second time in the same day.
The flirty bants between Tim and Trisha make it obvious they used to be more than friends. Kev is instantly disapproving, not liking the idea of his pal neglecting Sal.
Tim gets carried away chatting to Trisha and ends up missing his special anniversary meal. Sally is not best pleased, and when she goes to talk to Tim in the cab office the next day, she finds him entertaining another woman ? guess who?
"Sally introduces herself as Tim's wife, and demands to know who this stranger is," our insider continues. "Annoyed that Tim ruined their anniversary to take a walk down memory lane with an ex, Sally storms off.
"Tim later reminisces about his adolescent fling to Brian. He reveals that he was 14 when he lost his virginity to Trisha, who was nearly 20 at the time. Brian is quietly shocked, and reckons that's some age gap?"
Unsettled by the info about how much older Trisha was when she slept with Tim, Brian realises there was something deeply inappropriate about the relationship, as Trisha was an adult and Tim was still legally a child.
Clearly keen to see Tim again, later in the week Trisha calls at Roy's Rolls looking for him and asks Brian where she can find him. Perplexed Brian gives Trisha short shrift, and she's stunned when he accuses her of grooming underage Tim into sleeping with him.
"Trisha is disgusted ? as is Tim when he hears what Brian is implying," our source says. "Brian, however, is adamant Trisha broke the law and that Tim was a victim of grooming as a 14-year-old. Now it's Tim's turn to be aghast."
Brian's take on his questionable history soon has Tim's brain ticking. Sally confronts her hubby over his past with Trisha, and Tim explains that she took his virginity when she was 14.
All these years later, Tim now finds himself deeply troubled by the age difference ? has he realised he was groomed? And what will the consequences be for Trisha?
