part one of muggle net interviews
David Heyman is happy with the 12A rating because he doesn't feel they're children's books, and calls it a "generous, smart, funny thriller."
Mike Newell, much to WB's chagrin, says the movie has all the elements of a great Bollywood film.
Two years ago, Mike Newell met with Jo Rowling and they discussed the moral challenges inherent in the book and how important it was for Harry to stand on his own morality
Mike Newell: "I can't stand myself sometimes." He hates his work, all the time, he says. "I always hate the end result, and this time, and it may be a very bad sign, this time I don't hate it. This time I think it's what I tried to do, what we all tried to do, which was to make this wonderful, terrifying thriller ride. So it pleases me very much."
Dan Radcliffe likes to do his own stunts; he'll go to the gym several times a week during lunch and has become a "jock," says David Heyman.
Jo has not seen the film yet but will soon.
Jo Rowling OK'd putting Barty Crouch in the first scene. "Oh, that could have happened, yes," she said when they called her to ask about it.
Mike Newell: Jo Rowling is not, "the best returner of a phone call I've ever come across," but is very sweet and available, and gives the filmmakers the freedom they need to make their own work. David Heyman calls her "the most generous of collaborators."

Goblet of Fire: 156 minutes long
Veritaserum has independently confirmed the fourth Harry Potter movie's running time as being 156 minutes and 25 seconds; this includes thirteen minutes of credits which are filled "with bits of humor".
LONDON — Just as Harry Potter is growing up in J.K. Rowling's series of phenomenally popular books, the screen version of the young wizard isn't entering quietly into his adolescence.
Judging by the first look at the finished film at a screening for journalists Friday night, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire more than earns its PG-13, the first in the series to receive that rating.
In the USA, PG-13 carries with it a caution for parents and warns that some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Goblet is cited for its sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images.
Says director Mike Newell: "Audiences that began with No. 1 and are now 14, 15, 16 years old will kind of want to know you are not infantilizing the situation. These are not children's books; these are adult stories."
Among the more frightening scenes in the fourth Potter installment, due in theaters Nov. 18:
• A giant man-eating snake.
• An implied murder.
• The graphic destruction of the Quidditch World Cup campsite at the hands of the dark-hooded, skull-faced Death Eaters.
And that's just the first 15 minutes.
Goblet features the first appearance by the evil Lord Voldemort, played by Ralph Fiennes, and culminates in a graveyard battle between Harry and Voldemort that includes a torture scene.
Other scenes that may be of concern to parents include creepy spiders crawling on schoolchildren, fire-breathing dragons, monstrous mermaids, a character nearly suffocated by vines and a near-drowning. The film also contains mild profanity, sexual innuendo and the death of a main character.
Producer David Heyman says he was pleased with the rating. "It will be good for a slightly older audience, and it shows that we've been faithful to the material," he said Saturday at a news conference to promote the Warner Bros. picture, one of the most anticipated films of the holiday season.
Goblet "is a different kind of animal. It has evolved," says Newell. Dumbing down the books would have been patronizing to fans who have grown up and matured alongside Potter, Newell says.
Whether the film is too scary for children under 12 depends on the child's disposition, says star Daniel Radcliffe.
"If you are a very sensitive 10-year-old, you probably couldn't see it, but then again, if you are a very resilient 5-year-old, you could," he says.
"What's great is there is all the intensity, and that's fantastic. I think people would have been disappointed if we had pulled away from that. At the same time, you have got a lot more comedy. It is the funniest of the films so far. There is a nice balance of light and shade."

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth movie adaptation of JK Rowling's phenomenally successful series.
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40947000/jpg/_40947608_potter_pa203.jpg Grint, Watson and Radcliffe have acted together for five years
It has been five years since a trio of unknown actors were cast as the junior wizards and witches Harry, Ron and Hermione.
Despite the latest film featuring a host of stellar actors including Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman and Dame Maggie Smith it is the young cast who are pushed into the limelight to publicise the film.
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have grown up on screen along with their characters, transforming into confident, laid back screen stars.
And Radcliffe, 16, Grint, 17, and Watson, 15, were able to take under their wing a new crop of young actors, including Katie Leung as Cho Chang and Stanislav Ianevsi as Viktor Krum, many of whom were making their film debuts.
Speaking about his own experiences, Radcliffe said: "It's been an odd five years but it's been great.
"I've been through all the same stuff as Harry - like the hormones and everything. I've been doing it since I was 11, so it makes it easier in the long run."
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40947000/jpg/_40947612_potter_old_pa203.jpg They came together in 2000 for the first Potter film
Role model
Watson also says the job has become much easier as each film has passed.
"It felt like I didn't have to act at times. I know Hermione so well.
"There's so much of her in me, and me in her. It's been wonderful and I'm very fond of Hermione's character.
"She's turning into someone that people can identify with and she's a great role model."
The Goblet of Fire was a darker book from the previous three and the film follows in this vein.
Thriller movie
Because of the scarier contents the film has been given a 12A rating, meaning anyone under that age must be accompanied by an adult.
Watson said: "I'm in it and I was scared. I think it is much more of a thriller.
"It's always about staying faithful to the books and at the end of the day someone dies in the book, you can't avoid it."
Producer David Heyman said that at the test screenings it was the adults who were concerned their children would be scared rather than the children actually being too scared.
The Goblet of Fire sees Four Weddings and Funeral director Mike Newell take over the reigns from predecessors Christopher Columbus and Alfonso Cuaron.
He was reported to have said that the undisclosed multi-million pound budget was not enough to make the film the way he wanted.
But he said his quote was taken vastly out of context.
Newell said: "When I began the sheer scale of the film is daunting and then after a little bit, like every director and like every film I've made, big or small, you feel there isn't quite enough money to put the absolute bit of topspin on it.
"And of course you start to feel aggrieved that you have so little money - it's a monstrous nonsense."
Newell has declined to take on the fifth film, with producer Heyman admitting they are a "real endurance test".
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40947000/jpg/_40947610_potter_cast203.jpg A new crop of young actors has joined the regulars
'Wear a hat'
David Yates is the next director to take on the Potter franchise, with filming due to start in February.
Radcliffe, Grint and Watson signed on to reprise their roles for the fifth movie Order of the Phoenix but the possibility remains that they may not always play the roles.
Radcliffe said: "We are not absolutely confirmed as doing them all. We are confirmed to do the fifth but after that who knows."
The producers are in talks with Imelda Staunton to join the cast of the next film as Professor Umbridge, while secrecy surrounds other actors who may be joining.
Despite already appearing in three hugely successful films, Radcliffe insists the young cast are able to enjoy normal teenage lives although he added "it's often sensible to wear a hat!".
Radcliffe said: "I only feel famous about two days a year and that's the premieres, the films haven't cut into our lives that much. "Having said that it's a possibility that may change once we turn 18 because perhaps the paparazzi and photographers have maybe been going easy on us, it might change but hopefully it will continue."

I know seen them all, but it would have been nice if they just showed the beginning. That would have made everyone even more anxious!!
The stars of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire have attended the film's world premiere at the Odeon Leicester Square in London.
Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, thanked all the fans who had turned up. "If this doesn't get you exhilarated, nothing else will," he told the BBC.
Emma Watson, who plays Hermione, said the atmosphere was "amazing and completely overwhelming".
The Goblet of Fire is the fourth Potter book to be made into a film.
Some Potter fans had waited patiently outside the West End cinema since Saturday night.
"There were about 100 people when we got here at 9pm last night and there has been a lot of pushing to get to the front," Romina Talamonti from Argentina told the BBC News website.
Some Harry Potter fans camped out overnight for the premiere
"We didn't get any sleep at all but I think it will be worth it," she added.
Rupert Grint - who plays Harry and Hermione's friend Ron - also attended the premiere.
He told the BBC he had enjoyed making all the Potter films: "It's five years now and it's been a long time but they're good fun."
Filming on the fifth Potter movie gets under way in February.
Grint added that he would "definitely" like to be part of the sixth and seventh films.
New characters
The cast of the new film includes Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon and Dame Maggie Smith.
The film has been rated 12A, meaning children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, due to what classifiers called "more intense scenes".
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) decided the film contained "moderate fantasy violence, threat and horror".
The cast of the new film includes Ralph Fiennes and Michael Gambon
The film sees the boy wizard, played by Radcliffe, mysteriously selected to compete in the prestigious Triwizard Tournament against older students from Hogwarts and two rival schools from Europe.
Fiennes plays Harry's nemesis Lord Voldemort, while Miranda Richardson appears as gossip columnist Rita Skeeter.
The film also sees Harry get his first girlfriend in the form of Chinese pupil Cho Chang.
Emma Watson returns as apprentice witch Hermione Granger while Rupert Grint is back as Ron Weasley.
At 157 minutes Goblet of Fire is the second longest Potter film, three minutes shorter than Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The film, released in the UK on 18 November, has been given a PG-13 rating in the US, signifying it may be inappropriate for pre-teens but it does not restrict children under 13 from admittance.
The fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is due out in 2007.

wow - just go home - what a film - but be warned if you havent read the book you wont understand half the film - they have made it thinking that everyone going to see the film will have read it and will understand whats going on in places.
It was a good film but was too rushed in some places they dont explain about frank being the keeper of the old riddle house the world cup lasts about a minute and they fires and fighting after it last about that long too and they also dont explain about barty crouch jnr. (How he got out of azkaban etc...) but apart from that i give it a

Imagine ralph as a monk - bald in black robes and only two slits for a nose. Hes not as scary as i would have thought the would have been and think they could have done alot more with the grave yard part.
just got back too, never thought I would bother to go to see a film so late, I agree with what you are saying I havent read the book but lucky my son had, I really enjoyed it :cheer:
