Coronation Street chiefs have given Bono and his band U2 an amazing snub.
The band wanted to appear on the soap after hearing that old stagers Status Quo had landed roles on the soap, but ITV chiefs rejected their bid.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Corrie's executive producer Tony Wood said "We had to say 'No' to U2 - There just wasn't room for them. But it is great to have famous fans."
Quo's Francis Rossie and Rick Parfitt are set to make their Corrie debuts perfoming at Les Battersby and Cilla Brown's wedding in October, but there was no place for U2.
A Corrie spokeswoman told the newspaper "We love to have celebrity cameos but we need to be careful the show doesn't become overloaded with them."
