Coronation Street has signed up former Hollyoaks star Ryan Mulvey just weeks after his departure from the Channel 4 soap.
The actor played JJ Osborne on the soap for a year before his final appearance last month (January 15), which saw the character sentenced to two years in a Young Offenders institution following the abuse of his sister, Frankie.
Just under a month from his last appearance as JJ, it seems Mulvey now has a new role on the horizon, with The Sun reporting that the actor is set to join ITV soap Coronation Street for a ?brand new? storyline across the spring season.
Whilst Mulvey?s role on Corrie is a secret for now, the actor previously spoke about his ?challenging? role as JJ, sharing: ?Even though he is a villain, JJ does not see himself as that, so playing the delusion and denial in JJ has been super interesting.
?The part has pushed and challenged me hugely as an actor but I?m super proud of the end product and humbled by the feedback we?ve received for the storyline? I?m so proud to take part in the storyline and how important it is to be represented in the media.?
News of Mulvey?s casting comes amidst a tumultuous time on Corrie, with Paddy Bever, Colson Smith, Shelley King, Charlotte Jordan and Sue Cleaver all set to depart the soap in the coming months.
?After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max and Coronation Street to explore new opportunities,? said Bever, who has played Max Turner since 2021, of his impending exit.
?I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way. I'm eternally grateful for the chance to bring Max?s story to life and it?s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show? I will treasure these memories.?
brody the son of mick and lou?
In upcoming storylines thug Brody, who is currently with Dylan in the Secure Training Centre, will reportedly be revealed as Mick and Lou's son, though it is later revealed that Brody isn't Mick's son and is actually the son of Kit Green.
Could he be Kit's son????
Here's our first look at the Coronation Street family reunion from hell, as bad boy Brody Michaelis catches up with his parents Mick and Lou.
Brody's time in the Secure Training Centre is about to come to an end, which could be bad news for the residents of Weatherfield.
The troublesome teen has been serving time alongside Sean Tully's son Dylan Wilson, making his life a misery.
Next week, it's all change as Brody gets his freedom again ? and top of the agenda is getting to know his new home...
"Mick and Lou moved to nearby Mawdsley Street while Brody was locked away," our Corrie source reminds us.
"Once Brody is out, the trio head to Speed Daal for a meal to celebrate. But if the local residents thought that living alongside two members of the Michaelis family was bad enough, how will they cope with three?"
One person who surely won't be happy to see Brody is Sean. Brody repeatedly blackmailed Sean earlier this year, threatening Dylan's safety in the STC if he didn't cooperate.
When Sean tried to do the right thing by reporting Brody's nasty games to the bosses at the STC, Mick retaliated by brutally beating up his neighbour.
Brody's release airs during next week's special episode exploring the secret backstory between Mick, Lou and local detective Kit Green.
Corrie bosses have confirmed a huge twist on the cards, as Kit finds out that Brody could be his biological son rather than Mick's.
Jacob Roberts, who plays Kit, recently told us: "Kit would know that Brody has just come out of the STC and I don't think you can change a lad ? the damage has already been done. He thinks Mick is Brody's dad and Kit has got nothing to do with this kid.
"It would come as a shock to Kit and he'd certainly be upset or angry that Lou never told him he had a child. He's not ready for a kid, we've seen that he's not ready for a baby, so how can he be ready for a 16-year-old lad who's already learnt from his dad Mick?"
Asked whether this could bring Kit closer to his estranged mum Bernie, Jacob replied: "Bernie's probably the best person to speak to about it, because again, Kit has got no-one else to talk to. That's what you will see ? it's little subtle hints that Kit needs Bernie there while he's talking to Brody. He'll need Bernie on his side because he's questioning if he's doing the right thing, and if he's feeling the right emotions.
"But I do think Bernie might get a bit too involved in it as well!"
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday 16 May on ITV1 and ITVX.

Going to find out that Kit is his father..

Coronation Street star Ryan Mulvey has confirmed that Brody Michaelis will undergo some changes as he makes the bold decision to help Mick escape from prison.
Mick has been imprisoned for the past couple of months following a brutal attack that caused the death of Craig Tinker, while Brody's own arc in Weatherfield has seen him discover that Kit Green was his biological father.
Friday's instalment of the ITV soap saw Brody call Mick after Lou was arrested, with the villainous Mick promptly telling Brody to keep himself available as he begins to plot his way out of prison.
Given Brody was only released from the STC in the past few months, the character will harbour some trepidation about helping his stepfather, with Mulvey explaining: "[Brody] definitely puts [on] a front that he's not scared, [but] he's quite impulsive.
"He [does] these idiotic things and I would definitely say he likes the adrenaline rush from it. That is his personality and it fuels him to do these things. He likes being excited because it gives him something raw and it takes him out of his own head.
"But then again, even though there's all that excitement there, it does scare him because the STC is not a nice place to be. He's had horrible times [and] loads of fights growing up, so he doesn't really want to go back there."
As the escape plot progresses, Mick comes face-to-face with friend-turned-enemy Kit in a dramatic prison showdown, with the police officer left fighting for his life as Mick gets the better of him.
Brody catches wind of the events and is immediately overcome with mixed emotions, with Mulvey explaining: "It's hard because he's [Brody] only just found out about Kit being his dad. It's all very overwhelming for Brody and he doesn't really know how to process it.
"He's obviously worried that his [step] dad, who's already in prison, could be sent down for longer if this ends badly. He's hurt an actual police officer, [who] is also Brody?s dad. It becomes a whole moral battle? I don't think he really knows who he wants to win."
While Brody will be conflicted over his loyalties, Mulvey expressed hope that his character would continue to interact with Kit in the future, with the actor explaining: It's a great dynamic - his dad being a policeman and Brody, the way he is, always getting into trouble.
"I love working with Jacob [Roberts]. It's great because there's so many dramatic scenes that we can play, [such as Brody] finding out he's his dad and all the drama and emotion around that. There's probably a lot of resentment there for him as well.
"But there's also just the average dad and lad scenes that would be exciting to do. Say, like, involving girls [or] throwing a house party. There's just so many different routes we could do with the dad and son which is really exciting to come.
"[Brody has] so many different sides to him and that?s what makes him so interesting and exciting. He?s angry and likes [to] fight but also he loves his sisters. He wants friends, a girlfriend [and] a dad who looks after him.
"He wants to feel safe. I think because of what he?s been through he struggles to trust people but it would be nice to see him push that boundary and see if he can trust anyone around him again."
Mulvey, who previously portrayed JJ Osborne on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, also reflected upon his wider experience on Corrie, with the actor - who debuted as Brody in February - expressing his admiration for his cast and crew.
"It's really good - it's a madhouse but a great house," he said. "Everyone's lovely. I know everyone says it, but it is like a family - you've got your crazy cousins [and] those you look up to. Everyone's creative and it's just a wonderful place to be.
