Lord of the Rings actor Sean Austin who played Fat Hobbit Sam Wise Gamgee is to join 24. Sean 34 will be a regular in the fifth series which begins next year. His character will be in the Counter Terrorist Unit.

I liked him in LOTR. I can't say that i have seen him in anything else, though.
