Coronation Street has revealed that Abi Webster will face turmoil in the dark storyline involving Mason Radcliffe.

It was revealed on Friday (December 27) that Mason would soon be fighting for his life after being stabbed during an altercation with his brothers Logan and Matty, an event witnessed by Abi.

In scenes set to air on January 8 and January 9, Mason?s stabbing is still the talk of the town as Abi is left shaken by the events, with the character being confused by a news report that she thinks is referring to her late son, Seb.

Later in the week, a disturbed Abi takes her eyes off son Alfie and subsequently panics as he vanishes from the play area, though she eventually finds him walking alongside Toyah, who had previously been involved in a custody battle for the youngster.

Owing to their past, a paranoid Abi accuses Toyah of abducting Alfie for her own benefit. As they return home, Abi doesn?t take her eyes off Alfie as she attempts to atone for her earlier lapse, though Kevin notices that his wife is clearly affected by something?

The devastating storyline involving Mason was recently explained by producer Kate Brooks, who told Digital Spy and other press: ?We start the year with a big knife crime story. It's a really important story to tackle, because the statistics are so alarming.

?We've worked really closely with the Ben Kinsella Foundation to make sure we're telling the story right and that the message is to not carry a knife out of fear, because that escalates everything.

?We know we're tackling a sensitive storyline and it's going to be very hard-hitting. We have Mason at the centre of it and Dylan and Betsy are involved. It has massive ramifications for Abi ? and for Tim and Sally going forward.?

David Platt will chase Kit Green on Coronation Street after the detective slept with his wife, Shona.

It was revealed earlier this month that Shona and Kit had spent the night together in a hotel following a strain in her relationship with David, which had been caused by his deceit in regards to her imprisoned son, Clayton Hibbs.

David will soon become hellbent on discovering the identity of Shona?s fling, with the character incorrectly assuming that Adam Barlow was guilty. In scenes set to air on December 30, David will discover that Kit is the man he?s looking for, beginning a plan of revenge.

In scenes on January 8, David will continue to treat Shona with contempt as he struggles to forgive her for the mistake, though Sarah implores him to move on for the sake of their marriage.

Kit, meanwhile, receives a call from Shona regarding the whereabouts of Logan and Matty Radcliffe, who have remained at large following the stabbing of their brother, Mason. Kit orders her to leave the area, with the detective going after the pair.

Sarah overhears what has happened and informs David that Shona was near the dangerous brothers, though he gets the wrong idea as he becomes enraged that Kit had called Shona in the first place.

David hurriedly grabs his keys and chases after Kit as he incorrectly assumes that he had resumed their affair with Shona - will this lead to disastrous consequences for David and Shona?s marriage?...

The dramatic storyline was recently discussed by Jack P Shepherd, who shared with Digital Spy and other press that David would be restricted in how he could enact revenge on Kit, saying: ?I think David will react in a way where he'll have to try and get his own back on Kit somehow.

?He'll have to try to do it in a clever way. With Kit being six foot taller than David, he won't be able to take him on physically! It'll have to be something that he does mentally. He'll do something to mess Kit's life up somehow. That's what he'll do ? definitely.?

Coronation Street is set to expose Betsy Swain's secret after the incident with Mason Radcliffe.

Back in November, Betsy was responsible for allowing the thieves into Underworld, which resulted in Carla Connor's attack. Carla learned the truth, but has kept it quiet so Lisa won't lose her daughter so soon after losing her wife.

We already know that Mason is going to be stabbed during an altercation with his brothers Matty and Logan in upcoming episodes, and now spoilers have been revealed for scenes set to air on Wednesday, January 8.

In the episode, Betsy is reeling from the aftermath of Mason's stabbing, and decides to finally admit to mum Lisa the truth about the factory robbery.

She also reveals that Carla knew about it, and was sworn into secrecy, leaving Lisa stunned.

At the hospital, Lisa confronts Carla about everything she's just learned. Carla apologises for not telling her the truth, and says she just agreed to say quiet in order to protect her.

Will Lisa be able to forgive Carla, or will this drive too big a wedge between Corrie's newest power couple?

It's also been revealed that another aspect to the stabbing storyline will see Hope Stape convince Joseph Brown to make a hoax call to the emergency services, which will have a direct impact on how long it takes the ambulance to get to Mason.
