The Sun newspaper has apologised to former EastEnders actor Chris Parker for printing allegations that he was sacked from the programme.
"We said that Chris had been sacked when in fact he had left voluntarily," stated the newspaper.
It said sorry for the "embarrassment and distress caused".
The 22-year-old actor, who played Spencer Moon in the soap and was last seen on screen in January, was wished well for the future by the BBC.
The Sun added in Thursday's edition it was "happy now to correct the position".
Their story, published in December, also speculated on circumstances surrounding the actor's private life.
The BBC refused to comment on the details at the time.
Parker joined the soap opera in 2002 with actor Shane Richie, and the pair became popular with viewers.
The character of Spencer Moon is said to have been staying with his cousin Maxwell since his departure earlier this year.
