Coronation Street's Betsy Swain suspects her own mother next week as the Joel Deering murder mystery continues.

Betsy can't help doubting Lisa when she learns that Joel was in a fight with a mystery person on the day he died.

Joel's body was found in the river earlier this month, two weeks after he'd mysteriously disappeared. A post-mortem revealed that he was already dead when he hit the water, so the police immediately launched a murder investigation.

Next week, more potential clues are shared with viewers as Lisa secretly examines some unexplained bruises in the bathroom mirror.

Betsy walks in and quizzes her mum over where her injuries came from. Lisa claims that she was hurt during a body combat class, but Betsy isn't convinced that she's telling the truth.

As Betsy digs a little deeper, she finds that Lisa has a bottle of painkillers dated September 28. This seems highly suspicious too, as Joel was killed the day before.

In a chat with Daisy Midgeley, Betsy later learns that Joel was in a fight on the night that he was killed.

Feeling under pressure as the evidence seems to be mounting against her, Lisa suddenly changes her story. She lies to Betsy, making out that she got the bruises due to an office injury.

Corrie fans saw Lisa threaten Joel in the days before his death, clearly sickened by the way he'd treated Lauren Bolton, Betsy and other young girls. Did she go rogue by getting him out of the picture for good?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, October 30 and Friday, November 1.

Coronation Street teen Liam Connor sees a nicer side to his former tormentor Mason Radcliffe next week.

The schoolboy is shocked as Mason finally expresses remorse for making his life a misery.

Earlier this year, the two characters took centre-stage in an emotional storyline focusing on school bullying and how the ordeal affected Liam's mental health.

Mason and his cronies bullied Liam in person and continued the cruel abuse on social media.

Although the upsetting situation played out over several months, Mason eventually got his comeuppance when he was arrested, charged and sentenced for threatening Liam with a knife. As this wasn't his first knife-related crime, he was sent to Young Offenders.

Next week, Liam absentmindedly steps out in front of Chesney Brown's car on the street.

Mason witnesses the incident and jumps in to pull him to safety.

As the former enemies finally get a chance to talk again, Mason tells Liam that he's genuinely sorry for the bullying. He adds that he's now a changed person after taking positive steps to turn his life around. But will Liam believe him?

Dev Alahan witnesses the intense conversation and decides that it's best to warn Liam's step-dad Gary Windass about what happened.

Determined to keep Mason away from Liam, a furious Gary takes matters into his own hands ? but will Liam appreciate his interference?

Charlie Wrenshall, who plays Liam, recently suggested that his character could ultimately become friends with Mason in a surprise twist.

He told Inside Soap magazine: "As we're seeing on the show now, with Mason, people are starting to feel bad for him. So maybe they have a similarity in that. You never know, they could become friends."

Discussing Liam's future, Charlie laughed: "What I want to see Liam do is completely switch and go on a rampage, and just do whatever he wants ? just like Gary.

"Maybe he could use this experience to spark something in him, to the point where no-one wants to mess with him!"

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, November 1.
