Coronation Street provides a worrying update on teen thug Mason Radcliffe next week.
Maria Connor receives a nasty shock when she learns that her son's bully is due to be released from the Young Offenders centre after just three months.
The news comes through when Maria receives a letter that confirms the details of Mason's release back into the community.
Maria is understandably concerned by the revelation, and she heads straight down to the police station to ask some questions about whether Liam will be protected.
In a case of unfortunate timing, Maria's husband Gary Windass is already at the police station, as he's on a new mission to help his ex-partner Sarah Barlow.
This week's episodes see Sarah hauled in for questioning by DS Swain, who believes that Nathan Curtis was bribed to keep quiet about the culprit behind his recent attack.
As Gary wants to get Sarah out of trouble, he provides his bank statements to DS Swain.
When Gary emerges from the police interview room, Maria is baffled and wants to know what he's doing there. Will Gary come clean about his latest secrecy with Sarah? And will Maria get the reassurances she needs over Liam's safety?
Mason was put on trial in April after being charged for threatening Liam with a knife.
The nasty encounter was just one incident in a long-running bullying campaign, which saw Mason and Dylan Wilson repeatedly target Liam.
Mason was found guilty after Dylan testified in support of Liam. As this was Mason's second knife crime offence, the judge took a dim view of his actions and imposed a custodial sentence.
Coronation Street airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, July 8.

Coronation Street's Roy Cropper is shocked by an unexpected visitor next week after being rushed back into hospital.
Roy's health is about to take a dramatic turn for the worse, just days after he returns to work at the caf? for the first time following his prison ordeal.
This week's episodes see Roy's loved ones con him back behind the counter, as they're all concerned by him shutting himself away in his flat.
Shona Platt pretends to be unwell, so Roy reluctantly starts doing shifts again as he doesn't want the business to be short-staffed.
Next week, this tactic backfires when Roy kindly heads off to take some home-made soup to Shona.
Roy is still a target for negative attention after the false allegations that he killed Lauren Bolton, so he's quickly confronted by a gang of thugs.
The group surround Roy and make nasty comments, with worrying consequences as he falls to the floor. Carla Connor rushes over and chases off the gang, before turning her attention to Roy's health.
Roy plays down his collapse but it's clear that he's in pain. When Shona comes clean about how she was never ill, Roy is annoyed and asks her and Evelyn Plummer to leave.
Before long, Roy's worrying symptoms intensify and an ambulance has to be called. His worried niece Nina Lucas watches on in horror as the paramedics give him CPR.
Later, Roy recovers in hospital but is surprised when a visitor appears at his bedside.
Roy struggles to stay conscious, and his mystery visitor soon disappears.
When Roy finally comes round, he tells Nina who came to see him.
Nina speculates that Roy was hallucinating, but who does he think he has seen?

Monday 8th
Roy Cropper collapses after being confronted by a gang of youths
As Roy Cropper heads out of the cafe to take some homemade soup to Shona, he is confronted by a gang of yobs calling him names and he stumbles to the floor. Carla rushes to his aid but it?s clear he is in pain. When Shona admits she was never ill, Roy sends her and Evelyn packing.
Shona is telling Nina what happened when an ambulance rounds the corner and the pair rush into the cafe to find Roy being given CPR.
Later, in the hospital, a visitor appears at Roy?s bedside - but who is it?
Maria is stunned to get a letter saying Mason is due to be released from prison. She heads to the police station to ask some questions, unaware that Gary is there with Sarah providing his bank statements.
As Gary comes out of the interview room, Maria demands to know what is going on. Will he come clean?
Leanne tells Nick she is going to spend the day looking after Toyah but when Rowan calls asking her to attend the taster session for new recruits, Toyah offers to go with her. What is she up to? As they arrive at the Chariot Square Hotel for the new recruits session, Leanne is delighted to see Amy amongst the attendees.
Craig confides in Beth that he?s worried he?s made an enemy of Kit and tells her about the shoplifting incident with Gemma. In the factory, Betsy suggests to Carla she might like to employ her full time but Carla gives her short shrift and Betsy?s stung.
Tuesday 9th or Wednesday 10th at 8-00pm
Nina Lucas is concerned when Roy talks about his surprise visitor
As Roy was confronted by a gang of yobs calling him names and he stumbled to the floor, he was given CPR and was rushed to the hospital. Later, in the hospital, a visitor appeared at Roy?s bedside.
Roy drifts in and out of consciousness whilst his visitor stays at his bedside before disappearing. When Roy tells Nina Lucas about his surprise visitor, she wonders if he is hallucinating.
Who does he think he has seen?
Leanne was delighted after Toyah offered to go with her to attend the taster session for new recruits. As they arrived at the Chariot Square Hotel for the new recruits session, Toyah had already formed a plan - but can she make it work?
How will Betsy cope after she suggested to Carla she might like to employ her full time but Carla gave her short shrift?
Maria confronted Gary and demanded to know what was going on after receiving a letter saying Mason was due to be released from prison. Could Gary bring himself to tell her the truth?
