I hope not i like to think they wont ruin the sharon and dennis relationship i know it will have to end one way but i hope it is happy and together :)

I'm finding recent years to be the worst ever for ALL the soaps giving characters personality changes to suit the storyline! :)

EastEnders I'll admit has been guilty of this a lot recently but they just need a bit of stability then things will get back to normal.

It sounds vaguely plausible afterall she was married to Grant before and did love him once but on the other hand it's not something I'd like to see them do and thankfully it doesn't look like we will be given an affair between the pair in such a short space of time.

No i dont think sharon would cheat on dennis after everything they have been through to be together especially with den and zoe also people accepting them on the square she didnt go through all that so she could throw it an way on a one night stand with her ex husband grant mitchell with who she was in an unhappy marriage and described it as a slow car crash if i am not wrong

Also i would like to think TPTB would know if they ever did anything like that it would make the whole shannis storyline unbelieveable and a complete farce and very out of character for sharon in this moment in time

I think they are supposed to be leaving the show at the same time, we know sharon will return, dennis will not.

I cant think of any other explanation for sharon returning without dennis other than those two splitting or dennis dying

They were married once but that’s doesn't make it creditable for them to jump in the sac as soon as he returns. I don’t buy it. When Sharon returned in 2001 she told Phil that she had a phone call from Grant and he sounded sad. Sharon said she felt nothing but 'sympathy' for him. Also when Phil started laying into her about aborting Grant's baby, she said that she won't take any crap from him because she went through it with Grant. Since she has split from Grant, the majority of her comments on him and their marriage have been negative. It's clearly something that was in the past. They had a volatile marriage where Sharon was not happy. She has said as much. This is why when Dennis punched her accidentally she was petrified because it bought back all the memories with her and Grant. She fell for Dennis because he had that edge but was someone who could never hurt her. Sharon was the love of Grant life but he was never hers. Dennis clearly is as she has shown more for him than any of her previous partners. I have no reason to think why Sharon would jeopardise what she’s got with Dennis for a one night stand with an ex-husband who made her life a misery. It would only be feasible if she and Dennis had split or she did it as a way of grieving and Dennis blocking her out after Den’s death. However I rather if she didn't. If they were to split, I want it to be an outside influence that doesn't involve a third party. However if there had to be one, I'd chose Den as even from beyond the grave he has a way of coming in between them. Him splitting them up would be quite realistic.

I would say Dennis's transformation is realistic, especially how he has progressed as a character. When he arrived he was cold, distant and a womaniser. Life made him the way he was and because no one ever loved him, he put his barriers up and shut himself away from the world and expressed himself through violence and sex. However Dennis was always a character capable of love. It just had to come from someone who could break those walls and that was clearly Sharon. Unlike all his previous conquests he got to know Sharon before he slept with her. She offered him a place to live, a job, companionship and was a good friend to him. Most importantly she was the first woman who gave him love and not asked for anything in return. It was no surprise that he fell for her. Dennis is character of redemption. With Sharon, although he is not quite there, he is on his journey of redemption if that makes sense. Like he said to Jim Sharon is the first woman that got inside his heart. I agree, sharon has evolved as a character but then after all these years Grant will have also changed....and as you said it was very much a volatile, love hate relationship with Grant. I think all it would take for a fling would be sharon arguing with dennis and Grant providing a "shoulder to cry on" - the same way he had his wicked way with michelle!

Den coming between them is something I can see happening.

As for the sibling thing, this is something Den manipulated Dennis into believing way back in April. Back then he had just smacked the woman he loved, had his awful childhood bought up and hit rock bottom. He was obviously very vulnerable at that point so when Den starting harping on about family and how he is 'confused' because he's never had love before, Dennis was willing to believe it. Ok thats a fair point about dennis, but what about Sharon?

She knows that Den didnt approve of the relationship and when she finds out he is dead this may lead her to question the marraige....

In normal circumstances, i would never have suggested a sharon/grant reunion - but with sharon taking a break and dennis leaving, i just thought it tied in with the whole mitchell revenge on dennis issue and if dennis is to leave (as opposed to being killed off) it seems like a logical reason for him to go (unless as you say den eventually comes between them - but i dont think thats as interesting lol)

Well i think there is two obvious options, they either kill dennis or have him leave of his own accord.

I think if Sharon was to have a fling with Grant, it would be a huge storyline, a certain ratings winner, reminiscent of the sharongate plot.....

Grant would easily be able to persuade sharon into thinking that her relationship with dennis would not have been what den would have wanted etc etc

Like i said it would tie in nicely with the return of the mitchells and the issue of revenge. In one night, Grant will have rid the square of dennis who set up his beloved bruvva!! lol

Wouldnt you just love to hear Grant shattering poor dennis's dreams of a happy marraige? lol

Dennis has never encountered Grant,, he has no idea the two brothers are as different as night and day,, I do think Grant will boink Sharon just cause they WERE MARRIED at one time,,and there is some heavy history between those two,, this is just my opinion..

I know what you are saying about it ending suddenly but i dont think it will be sudden - dennis doesnt actually leave til early jan so there is a good few months for arguing (oh goodie! lol)

And i think the writers are just being true to life, how many relationships have you been in where you talk about "being in it for the long haul - marraige, kids and oh i could never love anyone as much as you blah blah" and then proceding to split up (i have been in that situation at least once >ahem!! :D ) ......................I think they call it the "honeymoon period" lol

I don't think Sharon knows because I don't think Michelle would want to risk another falling out, it was pretty bad when she found out about Vicky being Den's daughter. It was just Mark and Ruth (Mark's wife). Geoff (Michelle's ex boyfriend) knew it wasn't his baby, but I can't remember if he knew about Grant. Everybody else who knew her assumed that it was Geoff's though. I don't think Pauline would have been best pleased if she had found out! I doubt even Vicki knows about Mark being Grant's, I think Michelle would be worried about Sharon finding out.

Michelle planned to tell everybody the baby was premature. When it was born Mark told Grant that it was. I remember when Mark was showing him a picture of Mark jnr in the pub, but I don't think he suspected anything. You wouldn't want a Mitchell fathering your child would you? I think Michelle definetely did the right thing in not telling him.

I don't think Sharon still loves Grant, she's married to Dennis and is happy with him, but there is probably still some feelings left. After all when she left Grant she was still in love with him, I remember her telling him before she got into the taxi. It was quite a heartfelt moment. I hope she doesn't have a fling with him though, it just makes a mockery of Sharon and Dennis's marraige. If it happened I don't think Dennis should forgive her, to me it would prove that she doesn't love him as much as he loves her. They did put Sharon and Phil together before she left again at Xmas 2001 and that was digging up the past so they might have Sharon and Grant getting cosy but nothing else.

Thats because there was alot of unfinished buisness between Sharon and Phil.

Sharon has said countless times since she's split with him that the marraige held alot of bad memories for her and when Grant called her (which she mentioned to phil in 2001) she felt nothing but sympathy for the man. I can see there being an attraction but I just cant see Sharon acting on it.

In any case there would be tension and I would find it believable if there was still a spark between them. After all, they were married, did love each other and share a long complicated history. However for her to hop into bed with him is something I'd find unrealistic. It would have to take something big for that to happen and I doubt it will. It’s Dennis that she loves and is married to now and Grant is someone of her past. Seeing him again will conjure up some old emotions but with Sharon, she has moved on so much from them. People do change after 10 years, do fall out of love with people and fall for others, if not more deeper and stronger and I think this certainly applies to Sharon in regards to Dennis.

yeh i think ur right - i never thought sharon and grant would have a flown blown affair but i think even an "innocent" kiss between them would hugely affect dennis - maybe even cause a break up

I never thought that grant would split shannis - just cause them problems. If they dont split (and i think they will) the producers will come up with a better reason than that. Maybe dennis doesnt feel the same about her after the kiss and has a one night stand, or maybe they just start to argue more - i dont know but grant will definately cause a change in their marriage

I think they are both attractive in different ways. I think it helps that they are such nice people in real life. So when you look at Grant, some of the qualities he has as Ross come out. It's what they bring to the role.

I liked them fine when they were sneaking around,, that was acceptable.. no chemistry needed just pure lust LOL.
