Revelations:

It's fresh starts all round - Allie and Gavin are happily back together, and Brawdie (Annette Badland) and Tom (Bill Thomas) are renewing their wedding vows.

The Salon's thriving, and Allie wants to expand and open her own hairdressing academy, bringing on a new generation of hairdressers. The venture has financial backing from Liam Carney, an ex-boy-band member who's trying to shake off the trappings of his past life with mixed success.

Gavin is wavering over marriage, although he's keen to have more children with Allie. When Allie discovers she might be pregnant she thinks she can have it all, Gavin, the baby, the academy - fate, however, has other plans - she discovers her pregnancy is actually ovarian cancer - a secret she shares only with Darcey. Sydney misreads Allie and Darcey's secretiveness and drags Gavin to the hospital where he's confronted with the devastating truth about Allie's condition.

Also set to cause trouble is beautiful Aussie, Melissa, Gavin's guilty fling from the past. She gets the job of academy Styles Director with a little underhand help from a secretly besotted Liam.

Melissa's feeling for Gavin are soon reawakened, frustrating Liam's amorous ambitions. At the same time Melissa has to deal with Troy vying for her affection.

Darcey's relationship with Eugene continues to blossom.

After her first bout of chemo-therapy, Allie's keen to get back to work. She has the gushing support of her family, all showing varying degrees of denial. Not least Sydney, whose New-Age leanings reach dizzy heights, and sees her prescribing coffee enema's and urine therapy!

The Henshall Ferraday Academy is up and running, but only weeks into the new term the students are already causing trouble. At the centre are Fuschia, Dido and Craig Gutteridge. The rebellious and lazy sisters take the mick out of their nerdy, cardigan-wearing brother and are threatening to pull out of the course - a move which would cripple the academy.

With Shane out of his depths as a teacher, it falls on the ever-competent Melissa to prove that it will be worth their while to stay. Confused by her feelings for Gavin, Melissa offers her resignation. But when it becomes clear that Allie won't be up to working in the academy, Melissa is convinced to stay on.

Liam continues to repel unwanted attention from Sydney by claiming that he's in mourning for his dead wife. His own attempts to pull prove more effective though, with Melissa coming back to his flat. The two kiss, although she dismisses his declaration of love - for her, their fling is out of necessity.
Eugenebegins to suspect that Darcey and Troy are having an affair, before discovering that he's jumped to all the wrong conclusions - he's actually going to be a dad!

Her illness makes Allie reflect on her life - she wishes that she'd done all the small things she planned to, as well as all the big ones like opening salons and having babies. She admits to Gavin that doctors told her she has a 20% chance of survival. But she's determined to be in that 20%.

The strain of Allie's cancer begins to take its toll on her relationship with Gavin He feels lost in the magnitude of what's happening to her, and bears his soul to Melissa. The bond between Gavin and Melissa doesn't go unnoticed by Allie, and she spots them together leaving a bar. She learns from Liam that Gavin and Melissa had a fling three years earlier, but pretends that she already knew about it.

Allie discovers that her cancer isn't responding to treatment, and shares this secret with Liam. She's invited to join the 'Gloria Gaynors' a cancer support group which uses singing as therapy. Initially sceptical, she ends up embracing their madcap cathartic singing sessions.

Gavin eventually realises that he's let too much get between him and his beloved Allie, and finally asking for her hand in marriage.

A mistake by Liam over the lease means the landlord is barring the academy from using the building. Teachers and students are forced to decamp to the salon where chaos ensues.

Liam faces an uphill struggle to sort out the mess he created and earn the respect of the team. His error raises the suspicions of Troy, who starts investigating the history of the former pop star.

Troy learns that Liam's made up the story about having a dead wife called Leah. Liam was never married to Leah, but he did fall in love with her. She was the daughter of Ginger Buckley, the band's manager who kyboshed the relationship as it was bad for the band's image. Leah didn't die - she's now podiatrist in Clitheroe.

Liam is forced to seriously swallow his pride in order to win back the lease of the academy from cranky landlady Mrs McClair. She turns out to be a big fan of his band, and makes Liam sing her one of his biggest hits, 'Just As I Am'.
Shane finds himself attracted to nerdy student Craig Gutteridge (Andrew Moss) and makes it his mission to win him over. But Shane suffers a knock back when Craig says he doesn't fancy him. Shane still snogs Craig to show him what he's missing out on!

Still deep in denial about Allie's condition, the Henshalls jump on the Gloria Gaynors' bandwagon and try to raise the profile of the group. They exploit Liam's celebrity connections to organise a TV interview with presenter Ross Peagrum (Terry Christian). The death of one of the 'Gloria Gaynor's puts an end to their moment of TV stardom. Instead Liam is forced into the spotlight to relive his time in a boy-band. In the midst of this humiliation the lie about his dead wife gets full exposure.

Meanwhile, Allie faces the truth of her own mortality and decides to learn to skateboard in an effort to embrace life and conquer her fears. Filming the moment for her young son Ralfie, she is discovered by her concerned mother, Brawdie, who learns that Allie has stopped the chemo because it wasn't working.

Allie secretly plans her wedding as a surprise for everyone - including Gavin. After the wedding Liam is shocked and horrified by the appearance of his living wife Justine Jenson (Katy Carmichael), a woman on a mission.

Full of wedded bliss Allie visits her consultant for an update. But on her way out of the hospital she is hit by a passing van.

Before telling him what the consultant said, and after he assures her that he's had a perfect day, Allie dies in Gavin's arms...

With the prospect of Allie's funeral looming, Gavin is trying to cope with the grief of Allie's death, by moving on and removing all traces of her from his life.
Eugene is mourning the loss of Allie too, so much so that Darcey begins to feel as if she'll never mean as much to him as Allie did.

Sydney immerses herself in organising the service, even allowing Shane and Craig (Andrew Moss) to create utterly tasteless floral tributes.
PR goddess Justine (Katy Carmichael) lays her cards on the table with Liam - having been the one who discovered him and made him famous, she now wants a share of his assets.

When the driver of the vehicle that killed Allie claims that she deliberately stepped out in front of him, her bereaved family dismiss it as nonsense. But Brawdie (Annette Badland), who had discovered that Allie's chemo wasn't working, begins to harbour a secret belief that the driver is telling the truth.

On the morning of the funeral, Gavin's denial gives way to furious rage at her untimely death as he smashes up the salon delaying his arrival at the service.
Once underway, the funeral service gets hijacked by a family row as Brawdie voices her fears. Gavin has to face speculation that Allie might have killed herself, particularly when Liam reveals the secret that she abandoned treatment.

Allie's doctor interrupts to tell them that Allie's last prognosis was good, and that she left her consultant in an optimistic frame of mind.

The strange but heartfelt tributes to Allie are able to get underway. They include 'Puff The Magic Dragon' performed by a member of the Gloria Gaynors, a poem from Calypso (Rebecca Bellamy), and the video of Allie skateboarding that Brawdie secretly shot.

It's all too much for Gavin who runs out of the service to make his own personal peace with Allie out in the countryside on a hill top.

Gavin finally contemplates a future without Allie. He wants to make a go of things with Melissa, who admits to being in love with him and ends her relationship with Troy. But seeking solace in Melissa's arms makes Gavin very unpopular among Allie's family. He and Melissa plan to move away and start a new life together.

Justine (Katy Carmichael) is angling to share Liam's stake in the business. Knocked back when he successfully raises the money to pay her off, she is forced to change tack. In the academy there's an air of discontent as Fuschia, Craig, and others bemoan their bleak job prospects. What the academy needs is exposure. Seizing on the plight of the academy students Justine decides to make a dramatic show of strength.

Justine goes on a charm offensive with the Henshalls and arranges a special part for the students in a Manchester wide talent showcase, hosted by Ross Peagrum (Terry Christian). She arranges for them to do a make-over for the show. Meanwhile, in another make-over, overseen by Marshall Kemp, four stylistically challenged men turn out to be the other four members of Liam's boy band, Gimme 5. Liam is forced to lead a full on performance of their monster hit, Just as I Am. In doing so he raises money for Sydney's new venture, the Allie Henshall scholarship.
New futures beckon as the door closes on the Henshall Ferraday salon. Gavin leaves Darcey in charge of the academy, giving her the chance to finally step out of Allie's shadow.

At the last minute, Melissa realises she'll always be second to Allie in Gavin's affections, and that Ralfie will be a constant reminder of Gavin's previous relationship. A dramatic change of heart sees Melissa asking Darcey for a job at the academy, while Gavin walks into the distance alone.
