Coronation Street airs a new storyline for Tyrone Dobbs' daughter Ruby next week, as fans get their first glimpse of a new actress in the role.

Ruby goes head-to-head with her big sister Hope as the local kids continue to attend Little Big Shotz classes at the community centre.

In the upcoming scenes, Hope confidently rehearses her solo in front of Ruby at home.

Hope makes it very clear that she fully expects to land the lead part in the Little Big Shotz summer spectacular.

However, at the community centre later on, Glenda Shuttleworth throws a spanner in the works by revealing that Ruby has secured the lead role.

This means that Hope, Eliza and Ciara will all be Ruby's backing dancers. Ruby celebrates the news, but it's clear that Hope is not pleased.

The scenes also mark a real-life change for Ruby, as Macy Alabi has now left the role. Moving forward, Ruby will be played by show newcomer Billie Naylor.

Digital Spy understands that Macy, who played Ruby from the character's birth in 2012, has left Coronation Street because she's starting high school this year.

As all soap fans know, recasts are common for child characters for various reasons, including the real-life actors having education commitments.

The first scenes with the new Ruby will air on Corrie in the week commencing Monday, August 7.
