Coronation Street has promised more trouble for Stephen Reid next week, as his fianc?e Elaine Jones becomes angry with him.

Stephen takes centre stage at a party thrown in his honour in upcoming episodes, but there's a sense that storm clouds are gathering for the ruthless villain when Elaine's attitude towards him starts to change.

Next week, there's more tension for the pair's relationship when Elaine practises her Tai-Chi exercises at the flat and moody Stephen snaps at her.

As Stephen heads off for work, Elaine worries about his low mood. Michael Bailey suggests that it could be due to Stephen missing Canada, which leaves Elaine thoughtful.

Meanwhile, as plans continue for Owen Longford to buy Carla Barlow's share of Underworld, Stephen worries that he could lose his job after the takeover.

Jenny Connor kindly offers to put in a good word for Stephen with Owen, which leaves him with some hope for the future.

Later in the week, Stephen reveals that it's Canada Day and Elaine secretly forms an idea to help him celebrate.

Oblivious to this, Stephen focuses his efforts on winning Owen around and invites him to the flat for lunch.

Owen takes the honest approach with Stephen, admitting that he doesn't trust him. He adds that, after inspecting the Underworld accounts, he suspects that Stephen is using a mysterious company called "Seagull Ltd" to siphon money from Underworld.

Not stopping there, Owen also correctly guesses that Stephen wants Jenny for himself.

Just as Stephen tries to argue, the door opens and Elaine bursts in alongside Michael, Audrey Roberts and Sarah Barlow.

The guests wave flags and wish Stephen a happy Canada Day.

Stephen goes along with the impromptu celebration, but he's unsettled to see Elaine scowling at him. Did she overhear his conversation with Owen?

Monday

Sarah Platt joins Double D in the Rovers, but as she takes a sip of her wine, she suddenly baulks and, worried she might be pregnant, hurries out.

Back at home she looks at her positive pregnancy test in total shock. Stealing herself, she hands Adam the pregnancy test and admits that she doesn?t know who the father is, him or Damon. How will Adam react?

As Max heads towards Bec?s flat, Gav approaches and explains that he?s been released from the STC and he intends to marry Bec. When Max reveals that she has moved on and she?s going out with him now, Gav?s furious and grabs him. Spotting Bec, Max shouts at her to run, but is Bec hiding her own secrets?

Roy shows Evelyn the schedule he?s drawn up for Freddie?s care. But when Evelyn realises she?s got Freddie whilst Roy takes Yasmeen to a meeting of the Historical Society, she?s less than impressed.

Bernie orders Paul and Billy to enjoy some quality time together while she cleans the flat. Billy suggests Paul should come up with a bucket list while he?s still fit enough.

Later, Paul?s clearly touched when Gemma organises a game of darts and instructs Billy, Todd and Bernie to throw with their weaker hands.



WEDNESDAY

As Evelyn Plummer grumbles to Tyrone about Roy spending time with Yasmeen, Cassie watches unbeknown to them.

Following Tyrone?s advice, Evelyn steals herself and invites Yasmeen and Roy to join her later at the bistro. As Evelyn heads home, she spots Cassie across the street but chooses to ignore her.

On her way to the bistro, she receives a call that stops her in her tracks. As Roy and Yasmeen wait for Evelyn, she hurries into A&E reception and explains that her daughter, Cassandra Plummer has been admitted as an emergency.

Max is shocked when Lauren approaches, revealing that she fell out with her Mum, wants nothing more to do with her Dad or his right-wing mates, and spent last night kipping in the bus station. Feeling sorry for her, Max takes her to the caf?. But will he regret his decision?

After finding out she?s pregnant, Sarah attends the DNA appointment and does her best to remain positive.

Will Adam be by her side?

As Elaine practises her Tai-Chi exercises, Stephen snaps at her and heads off for work, leaving her worried about his low mood. Michael reckons his bad mood is down to the fact he?s missing Canada. Later, Stephen?s grateful when Jenny offers to put in a good word for him with Owen.

Bernie and Gemma tell Paul and Billy about their idea for a chilli eating competition to raise funds for Paul?s equipment.

Meanwhile, Billy is stunned when Paul discusses religion and sexuality with him?


FRIDAY

Evelyn receives a call from the hospital, but chooses to ignore it. But after much soul searching, she calls back only to discover Cassie Plummer has discharged herself.

Evelyn returns home to be met by Tyrone who reveals that someone called Cath has come to see her. Evelyn enters the living room and is horrified to see Cassie grinning at her from the sofa. When Tyrone enquires how they know each other, Evelyn?s thrown into panic.

When Stephen reveals that it?s Canada Day, Elaine forms an idea. Determined to win Owen round, Stephen invites him for lunch. In the flat, Owen levels with Stephen and admits that he doesn?t trust him and suspects he?s using Seagull Ltd to syphon money from Underworld and wants Jenny for himself.

As Stephen tries to argue, the door opens and Elaine, Audrey, Sarah and Michael burst in waving flags and wishing him a happy Canada Day. Stephen paints on a smile, but he?s taken aback to clock Elaine scowling at him.

Spider encourages Max to do the right thing when Max tells him that the CPS want him to make a statement for Griff?s trial. With Shona at his side, Max meets with the CPS lawyer and confirms he?s willing to make a statement about how Griff groomed and manipulated him.

Billy suggests to Paul that he could baptise him, but Paul refuses, adamant it?s not for him. But will he reconsider when Dee-Dee talks to him about her religion and how it?s brought her comfort?

Adam finds Sarah and Michael celebrating in the Rovers. When Sarah enthuses about Owen and his passion for Nippersnapper, Adam gets the hump and storms out.
