Emmerdale bosses have brought in Eddie Osei as Charles Anderson's father Victor.

The actor made a surprise arrival in the role in Thursday's hour-long episode, which saw Victor have a tense reunion with Charles.

Charles had been behaving strangely, which culminated in him paying a visit to a high-security prison.

The village vicar arrived just in time to see his father Victor walk out of the prison as a free man, having just been released from a long sentence.

For the time being, Emmerdale bosses are keeping tight-lipped about the reason for Victor's imprisonment.

Viewers will have to stay tuned to see what Victor's release means for Charles ? as well as his ex-wife Claudette, who has also just joined the show's cast.

Emmerdale producer Hannah Cheers commented: "Victor's arrival in Emmerdale turns life for the Andersons upside down. The brilliant addition of Eddie Osei as Victor has allowed us to learn more about who the Andersons are and we can't wait for the audience to watch as the drama unfolds.

"While Claudette is confronted by the husband she prayed she'd never see again, Charles has to face up to painful past traumas and he makes no secret of the fact that Victor is not welcome here. But who will win out?"

Eddie Osei added: "I feel privileged to be joining such a great show and I am honoured to be working with the fantastic cast and crew.

"It is very exciting for me to be playing Victor who is such an enigmatic character and who causes the Anderson family so much trouble!"

Charles confronts Victor about worming his way back into Claudette's life in upcoming scenes, but when Victor starts acting smug about it, things turn physical.

When Claudette walks in on the two fighting, she blames Charles and berates him with a slap.

Meanwhile, Manpreet meets with Jai and begrudgingly agrees to return the necklace her late ex-husband Rishi gave to her.

Still furious with Charles for siding with Jai over the necklace, which is a Sharma family heirloom, Manpreet confronts him about it and they get into a heated row.

Things worsen for Charles when he realises Victor has overheard them. When Victor goads him about it, Charles is more determined than ever to get rid of his father.

The next day, Jai arrives to collect the necklace. However, Manpreet quickly realises it's missing and is immediately suspicious of Victor.

While Claudette initially believes her husband is innocent, she is horrified to discover the jewellery in Victor's pocket.

Manpreet contacts the police, but Victor isn't willing to risk a trip back to prison and makes a hurried escape.

Later, when PC Swirling is questioning Manpreet and Claudette about the robbery, Charles arrives home. Is Victor truly to blame? Or is this a cunning ploy concocted by Charles to finally get rid of his father?

Well this is Emmerdale so the necklace probably planted by the vicar, if you can call him that.

I can't warm to Claudette. She needs to go away with Victor.
