Neighbours' revival has signed up Shiv Palekar for a major role.
Announcing the Shantaram star's casting on Instagram today (June 7), the soap's official profile wrote: "Harold's is under new management!
"We're thrilled to announce that Shiv Palekar will be joining us in the new role of Haz Devkar in all new episodes of #Neighbours later this year.
"(Plus, he's had the seal of approval from Harold himself...)".
The addition of Palekar to Neighbours' cast arrives shortly after Digital Spy's exclusive chat with Alan Fletcher, who told us what to expect when the show and his character Dr Karl Kennedy return to screens.
"The new storylines that they've got for these first few weeks of Neighbours are startling," he told us.
"I actually got in contact with our story team by email the other night when I read the latest scripts that I've received, just to congratulate them.
"They're some of the most innovative and exciting scripts I've ever seen in the show on my 28 years.
"The fans have got an enormous amount to look forward to."
Further along, Fletcher also shared his hopes for Australian viewers getting behind the show as much as international viewers, including those in the UK.
"I think it's going to be quite a change. When Australia found out that Neighbours was ending, we had around 1.5 million people watch the last episode," he pointed out.
"Now in Australia, that figure is huge and it was the highest-rated programme of the night.
"I think the interest that has been generated by Neighbours returning will be sufficient to really bring the audience back up in Australia as well."
Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours has hinted at Holly Hoyland and Haz Devkar's relationship taking a romantic turn.
The pair have been growing closer over the past few weeks after their recent ordeal with Erinsborough's newest villain Eden Shaw.
Earlier this month, Haz brawled with Eden while protecting Holly from her dangerous ex-boyfriend. This incident occurred when they both tried to track down Mackenzie Hargreaves' stolen wedding ring.
The dramatic showdown led to Holly seeing Haz in a new light, as she was clearly smitten with her knight in shining armour.
Next week's episodes see Haz and Holly team up for a second time, finding Eden's hiding place and alerting the police to his whereabouts.
Their intervention comes in the wake of Neighbours' dramatic Flashback Week, which exposes Eden's surprising role in some of the soap's bigger mysteries. Recent episodes have hinted at a connection between Eden and Melanie Pearson, who has just returned to Ramsay Street.
After such a stressful day dealing with Eden, Haz and Holly need some time to unwind when they return home to the Street.
Mackenzie is on hand to support the pair at the share house. However, when Mackenzie has to leave, Haz and Holly are left alone.
Haz comforts Holly after her traumatic few weeks, leading to a cosy moment on the sofa.
Will this lead to more between them? Plus, with Mackenzie also having feelings for Haz, how would she feel if her friends became an item?
Neighbours airs these scenes on Wednesday, November 22.

Neighbours' Haz Devkar will make a big decision next week, as his storyline with Trevor the dog continues.
Haz recently received a shock when his housemate Byron Stone took his pet dog, Trevor, out for a walk, only to encounter a woman named Alyssa who claimed that Trevor is actually her missing dog, Bodie.
Despite Alyssa presenting them with proof, Haz has refused to believe her claims and has started keeping Trevor indoors to hide him from Alyssa, fearing that she may take his pet away.
In scenes that will air on Monday, January 22, Haz decides that he's sick of hiding Trevor indoors to avoid Alyssa. He makes the decision to finally call Alyssa to talk things over.
With Mackenzie Hargreaves' encouragement, Haz explains that he is now Trevor's legal owner and Alyssa has no rights to him.
But when Alyssa asks to meet him in person, Haz is torn as he battles his conscience. It seems that this might not be the easy interaction he was hoping for...
Haz has been embroiled in plenty of drama over the past few months, having been caught up in a love triangle with Mackenzie and his girlfriend, Holly Hoyland.
While Haz and Holly recently got back together after a break, things still aren't plain sailing after Holly's dad, Dr Karl Kennedy, voiced his disapproval.
Haz will soon get a visit from his sister, Amira, with Maria Thattil due to take on the role for a guest stint.
"We're delighted to announce that Maria Thattil will be joining the cast next year in the guest role of Haz's big sister!" Neighbours' Instagram account revealed. "But just why she turns up suddenly at Harold's is yet to be revealed."

New spoiler pictures confirm a difficult time ahead for the Harold's Caf? boss as someone targets his business.
One image shows Haz in shock as the caf? has been completely trashed ? including overturned tables and plants.
Haz's girlfriend Mackenzie Hargreaves also witnesses the damage and is equally concerned by the upsetting turn of events.
A teaser spoiler for the episode, which airs on Wednesday, March 20, reads: "Haz is the target of a terrible attack."
The synopsis for the following episode on Thursday, March 21 adds: "Haz hides a terrible truth."
Viewers have recently seen Slade Weston's gang cause problems around the Lassiters complex, targeting the area with vandalism and graffiti.

Jane Harris and Nicolette Stone soon join in by praising Haz and handing over congratulatory gifts. Haz finally loosens up and embraces the success of his business.

A few interesting theories are floating around about all this. Firstly, that Haz's brother (mentioned for the first time yesterday, as Bossy says) is actually his twin & he did the break-in. Highly unlikely I would think. Secondly, that Haz has a split personality & his 'other self' did it. Quite possibly. The third, & most interesting I think, is that this is all AI/Deep Fake & linked to a couple of other storylines coming up ie Aaron getting a phone call that appears to have David's voice on the other end (spoilers 28th March) & also then 'Jane is cruelly targeted' (spoilers 2nd April). Are they all linked?? Someone has even suggested that after the selfie that Haz posted of the 'clean-up crew' group at the coffee shop, which included Aaron & Jane, that this could lead to others also possibly being targeted?
As we have seen in the last few episodes, Mackenzie thinks she has seen someone watching her & Haz. Could this be Haz's sister, who we know will be arriving on the show soon? And does she have something to do with all of this, & if so, why? Interesting speculation indeed. We will see...

Just on the split personality theory, we find out next week that Haz has 'unexpected tech skills' when he restores Krista's presentation file (that Chelsea corrupts). So, is this setting him up to have the computer skills necessary for any AI/fake storyline??
Also, Haz doesn't seem to want people to know much about his family and not keen for Mac to meet them etc. Are we going to soon learn more about his family life/upbringing?

In scenes set to air on Wednesday, March 27, Mackenzie tries to help Haz following the mysterious break-in at Harold's by getting security cameras installed in the caf?.
After offering her help, Mackenzie is shocked by Haz's angry reaction. She begins to notice her boyfriend's strange behaviour since the break-in and tells their mutual friend Byron, who downplays Haz's actions.
However, the pair aren't aware that Haz has bugged their phones and is listening in on their conversation.

Neighbours has revealed a first look at a new character who'll be heading to Erinsborough as part of the Haz Devkar storyline.
Winners & Losers star Stephen Phillips has filmed a guest stint as newcomer Zach Wade, who'll be appearing amid the ongoing mystery surrounding Haz's behaviour.
Newly released spoiler pictures show Mackenzie meeting up with Zach next month.
While full storyline details won't be revealed until nearer the time, the images seem to suggest that a suspicious Mackenzie will start to do some digging into Haz's past.
Stephen Phillips is best known for playing the role of Zach Armstrong on Australian drama Winners & Losers between 2011 and 2014.
This isn't his first time on Neighbours as he previously portrayed guest character Dr Cameron Hodder for a handful of episodes in 2003.
Last week, Neighbours launched a big new storyline revolving around Haz after his beloved caf? business was trashed by an intruder.
Haz later received an incriminating video which appeared to show that he was the culprit behind the criminal damage.
A possible motive became clear when Haz's friends pointed out that he could profit from the incident thanks to the strength of his insurance policy.
However, another explanation was also teased as Haz mentioned that he has a brother who is often described as "exactly like" him. Could a twin sibling have been responsible for the attack on Harold's?

Yes, Lassiters owns the building as part of the complex. Haz owns the cafe business (& pays rent to Lassiters for the premises).

I reckon he's a former hacker or something along those lines and has had a run in with another hacker years ago who has now seen the Cafe award and is making chaos in his life.

Neighbours' Haz Devkar is set to be caught out by Mackenzie Hargreaves as part of his hacking storyline.
Recent scenes on the soap have seen Haz hack into his girlfriend's and friends' phones, and the show has also suggested his involvement in recent deepfake incidents, such as a suggestive video of Jane and a purported phone call to Aaron from his deceased husband David.
In more disturbing scenes next week, Haz will set his sights on Holly Hoyland as her savings disappear and end up in Haz's bank account.
Following on from this in new scenes airing next Tuesday (April 9) and Wednesday (April 10), Holly tells Mackenzie and Byron about her cyber burglary, and Haz manages to emulate their shock ? though wrestles with his guilt.
He then tries to make amends by trying to anonymously deliver an envelope with Holly's original $20K, though Haz is caught in the act by Mackenzie and Holly as he struggles to make an excuse, which leaves Mackenzie suspicious.
He later gets a screenshot from his tormentor of Mackenzie's email, and is hurt when he reads that she will never love Haz the way she loves Hendrix.
Meanwhile, Andrew learns that the cybercrimes against Aaron, Jane and Holly are all from the same IP address, and have been done through a malware app. He advises them to download an anti-virus app, though when Mackenzie does so she learns she has malware on her phone.
Her suspicions grow towards Haz when he tries to downplay the incident and becomes increasingly confrontational.
This leads her to go through his bag as she finds a hard drive, and once she plugs it into his laptop her fears are realised as she finds the AI files she suspected him of being involved in.
She then weighs up when to confront Haz about the truth.

This week in Neighbours, Haz (Shiv Palekar) is in over his head with his deal with Wade (Stephen Phillips), a shady friend from his criminal past.
Wade has blackmailed Haz into continuing their schemes, threatening to destroy Mackenzie?s (Georgie Stone) career prospects if he doesn?t.
When Byron (Xavier Molyneux), Holly (Lucinda Armstrong Hall) and Mackenzie get word of what Haz is up to, they insist he turn himself in to the authorities. But knowing what going against Wade would mean, he chooses a life of delinquency instead.
?Haz leaves [town] because he?s let all this go too far,? Shiv tells TV WEEK. ?He knows Wade will go after Mackenzie with everything he?s got, and he can?t let that happen. He?s kept enough from her and now he?s hoping to make things right.?
Haz is now on the run and holed up, put to work on grubby schemes by Wade. Meanwhile Mackenzie, at home confused, miserable and missing her partner, remembers a note Wade gave her on a notepad ? could this be a clue to Haz?s whereabouts?
When she gives what she knows to the police, shockingly, they don?t act. And when her impatience becomes too much, Mackenzie, with Karl (Alan Fletcher) as support, drives to where she thinks Haz is. But, in a cruel twist, Mackenzie accidentally crashes into him as he?s in pursuit of Wade.
?Who knows what happened in Haz?s head when he got hit?? Shiv says. ?All he knows is he sees Mackenzie and is confused; he?s not sure what?s real or fake. He feels his heart surge and then everything goes dark. You can decide what that heart surge means.?

Neighbours has revealed the full details of Haz Devkar's horrifying accident, as his life hangs in the balance after being hit by a car.
After it was confirmed earlier in April that Haz would be left fighting for his life as his deep fake plot comes to a head, the soap has now revealed exactly how he ends up in the potentially deadly situation.
Neighbours viewers recently discovered that it was a face from Haz's past, Wade Fernsby, who was responsible for the disturbing deep fakes and illegal hacking incidents that have been plaguing Erinsborough in recent weeks.

In new scenes due to air on the soap, Haz prepares to make his exit from Ramsay Street with Wade, who has threatened to release a damaging deep fake audio file of Haz's girlfriend Mackenzie Hargreaves unless Haz comes to work for him on secret hacking jobs.
Unfortunately for Haz, he is caught trying to leave the share house by Mackenzie, Byron Stone and Holly Hoyland, who are all deeply disappointed to find him fleeing.
The trio convince Haz to stick around and face the music, as Wade's deep fake crimes caused havoc in Erinsborough after he took revenge on Haz for his dodgy past in IT.
Sadly, when Aaron Brennan, Jane Harris and Nicolette Stone drop by later to talk things through with Haz, Byron finds that he has vanished, even leaving Trevor the dog behind.
Mackenzie is gutted to realise that Haz has apparently proven that he's not the wonderful guy that she thought she'd fallen for.
Later in the week, upset Mackenzie confides in Karl and Susan Kennedy, admitting that while Haz isn't the person she thought he was, she still can't stop thinking about him.
Elsewhere, Haz is holed up in a city office with Wade, and is disgusted when Wade puts him to work on a grubby new job.
Later on, Mackenzie gets a new lead on where Haz could be when she remembers a note that Wade gave her on a complimentary notepad. Deciding that stopping Haz before he can commit more crimes is the best thing in the long run, Mackenzie takes the address to local policeman Andrew Rodwell.
However, Mackenzie is bemused when Andrew doesn't treat the case with any urgency and she starts to regret handing him her lead. She soon resolves to give Haz the chance to turn himself in, so she drives off to the city with Karl to find him.
In the city, Wade becomes suspicious that Haz is wearing a wire and he makes a run for it. As he dashes across the road with Haz in close pursuit, Mackenzie is driving down the road and she doesn't have time to brake or swerve.
Haz soon goes flying, much to everyone's horror ? will he survive the shock accident?
With Haz's life hanging in the balance, the path is also paved for his sister Amira to arrive in Erinsborough later in May.

This week in Neighbours, Karl (Alan Fletcher) jumps into action and attempts to resuscitate Haz (Shiv Palekar). The cafe owner was accidentally struck when he was chasing down Wade (Stephen Phillips), a shady criminal from his past who was trying to evade the police. And Mackenzie (Georgie Stone) is in stunned disbelief once she realises what she?s done.
?Once Mackenzie reaches Haz and sees him on the ground, she?s definitely scared he?s dead,? Georgie, 23, tells TV WEEK. ?She?s feeling fear about the prospect of losing him ? especially given everyone she?s already lost up to that point.?
Prior to this, Mackenzie lost her husband, Hendrix (Ben Turland), after he underwent a lung transplant and his body rejected the new organ.
The pain she endured after losing Hendrix means she couldn?t bear it if someone else she loves were to die.
Though Haz and Mackenzie weren?t in a good place at the time of the crash, everything she has learned since about Haz?s criminal past and how he was actually helping the police to catch Wade has changed her feelings towards him ? and the accident has put everything into perspective.
?She hasn?t necessarily forgiven him [for being involved with criminal Wade],? Georgie says. ?But she knows Haz was working with the police to bring Wade to justice. Mackenzie would definitely try to protect Haz as best she could without compromising her integrity.?
But if he dies, what will this mean for Mackenzie?
?If Haz dies, I think it would break her,? Georgie says. ?There?s no way she could recover from another loss ? there would be no coming back from that trauma.?

Neighbours has revealed that Haz Devkar will be left in a coma next week following his shocking accident.
Haz fights for his life after his ongoing storyline with hacker Wade Fernsby comes to a head in dramatic scenes.
Later this week, Haz starts work for Wade despite his friends urging him to defy the villain's ruthless threats.
Haz's decision ends in chaos when Wade suspects him of wearing a wire for the police and rushes off to avoid being arrested. When Haz gives chase, he finds himself in jeopardy as his ex-girlfriend Mackenzie Hargreaves accidentally runs him over in the road.
In follow-on scenes next week, Mackenzie and Karl Kennedy both rush to help Haz. At the same time, local policeman Andrew Rodwell steps in to capture Wade.
Haz is initially still awake but he loses consciousness and Karl is ultimately forced to start resuscitation. Mackenzie watches on helplessly, fearing that she's about to lose another man she loves.
Before long, Haz is rushed to hospital and Mackenzie is joined by Karl, Susan, Byron Stone, Holly Hoyland and Sadie Rodwell as she anxiously waits for news on his condition.
Dr Bowman confirms that Haz suffered a heart attack due to impact trauma and is now in a coma. Tragically, he may never wake up.
The news sends Mackenzie into a spiral as she's plagued by terrible memories of losing her husband Hendrix Greyson in 2022.
Fortunately, Dr Bowman later returns with another update, announcing that the chances of Haz coming out of his coma with a positive outcome are now much higher. Will Haz make a recovery?

Neighbours has confirmed that Haz Devkar will make a recovery following his shocking accident.
The caf? owner fights for his life this week after being run over by his ex-girlfriend Mackenzie Hargreaves.
Mackenzie accidentally knocked over Haz after deciding to track him down and put a stop to his alliance with hacker Wade Fernsby. She was unaware that Haz had in fact gone undercover for the police to finally bring Wade to justice.
In this week's episodes, Haz is rushed to hospital and is left in a coma following the worrying incident. Mackenzie struggles when she learns that there's a chance Haz may not wake up.
Fortunately, new spoiler pictures for June episodes have confirmed that Haz will ultimately regain consciousness.
The photos show Haz spending time with his sister Amira, who's played by guest star Maria Thattil.
Show bosses recently revealed a first look at Amira in Neighbours' newest trailer, which included footage of a frosty moment between her and Mackenzie.
When Haz is still in his coma, Amira tries to take control by telling Mackenzie that she'll "take it from here".
With Haz and Amira clearly getting along well when they're finally reunited, could Mackenzie find herself left out in the cold?

Neighbours' Haz Devkar receives a plea to leave Erinsborough next week as he finally comes out of his coma.
Haz is currently in a serious condition in hospital after his ex-girlfriend Mackenzie Hargreaves accidentally ran him over.
Mackenzie has spent the past few weeks loyally at Haz's side, but that all changes next week when Haz's sister Amira arrives in town.
Amira isn't impressed as she's introduced to Mackenzie, realising that she's the ex who put Haz in a coma. She responds by immediately restricting Mackenzie's access to Haz.
Mackenzie struggles to suddenly be shut out from Haz's hospital room, so she seeks advice from Holly Hoyland over what to do next.
Holly encourages Mackenzie to stand her ground with Amira, so she returns to the hospital for a showdown.
As Mackenzie and Amira clash, they're interrupted as Haz wakes up from his coma.
Amira doubles down on her harsh stance by telling Mackenzie that she's still banned from seeing Haz. It turns out that Haz has other ideas when he asks to see Mackenzie.
In a brief moment alone, Mackenzie tells Haz that she's still processing the details of his troubling past but still has feelings for him.
Haz responds by declaring his love, but Amira interrupts before Mackenzie can properly react.
When Amira gets Haz by himself again, she informs him that their family want him to come home. Haz's sister and parents are all in agreement that there's nothing for him in Erinsborough anymore, but how will Haz respond?

Neighbours will air the outcome of Haz Devkar's exit decision next week.
In scenes set to drop on Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23, Haz will have come out of his coma, after his ex-girlfriend Mackenzie Hargreaves accidentally ran him over. He will discover that his sister Amira has arrived in town, and has demanded that he leave Erinsborough with her to come back to his family.
In the scenes, Haz will be torn about the choice: part of him wants to see his family again after hearing they've forgiven him for his past mistakes, but he also feels the love from his friends who looked after him while he was comatose.
He concludes that his decision comes down to whether Mackenzie can forgive him, and if she can stop comparing him to her late husband Hendrix.
Mackenzie tries her best to hide how sad this situation is making her, and when Holly suggests that she needs to fight to make Haz stay, she's not sure.
Later on, Mackenzie takes Trevor the dog to visit Haz in the hospital when Holly is unable to, and Amira gets a chance to see how strong their bond is.
Mackenzie eventually tells Haz that she wants him to stay, which prompts him to tell Amira that it's what he wants to do as well. Having seen how good they are together, Amira says that she will support his choice.
She does add that she will be hanging around for the time being, until she is sure that he's fully recovered.
