The Fast Show star Arabella Weir has lined up a special appearance in Coronation Street.
Digital Spy has confirmed that Weir will have a comedic guest appearance in an upcoming episode when a visit to Weatherfield reunites her with a face from her past. No air date has been announced yet.
The actress/comedian is perhaps best known for the classic recurring sketches 'Different with Boys' and 'Girl Men Can't Hear' in BBC Two's cult classic comedy series The Fast Show.
Weir would later have memorable roles in Two Doors Down, Skins and Posh Nosh, and has also appeared on the West End in Calendar Girls.
Fans of Doctor Who's spinoff audio dramas may also remember her as the voice of a non-canonical version of The Doctor in the Unbound series.
In Coronation Street, the Baileys have recently had some sombre scenes, as Ed Bailey was among the first to suspect that something is wrong with Paul Foreman.
When Paul had trouble with his right hand, Ed had no choice but to temporarily lay him off from the garage due to safety concerns. But now, Ed wants him back, as he assumes Paul's hand has got better.
In reality, Paul has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND), a lift-shortening condition for which there is no cure. It could eventually lead to him being unable to breathe without assistance.
Ed's daughter Dee Dee Baily has been a confidant for Paul and is aware of his MND diagnosis. She's promised to keep the news in confidence until he's ready to open up to his loved ones.
