Coronation Street airs a grisly ending for Rufus Donahue next week as the Stephen Reid storyline continues.
Rufus is found dead in his own home after several weeks of causing problems for the Weatherfield killer.
Stephen has been pushed to breaking point since Rufus found out about him drugging Carla Barlow to steal her position in charge of Underworld.
Rufus has blackmailed Stephen by demanding 25% of the profits from the factory's Nippersnapper deal, in exchange for keeping quiet about what he did to Carla.
Scenes airing early next week see Rufus increase the pressure by informing Stephen that he has decided 25% of the profits isn't enough.
Rufus now demands 50% instead, leaving Stephen worried about how the business will be able to afford it.
Rufus throws another spanner in the works by trying to convince Michael Bailey to quit Underworld.
Michael, who designed the Nippersnapper range, has recently been shadowing Stephen at the factory. However, Rufus offers Michael a rival position in his London office.
As Michael starts to feel undervalued by Stephen, he decides that he'd be better off working for Rufus. He informs Stephen that he's leaving as Rufus has offered him a far better job in London.
When Michael later turns up at Rufus' house to see him, he gets no reply to the doorbell even though there's loud music inside, hinting that someone is home.
Michael calls Rufus and leaves a voicemail instead, but becomes worried when he doesn't hear anything back.
Michael's uncle Ronnie suggests that he should make a return trip to Rufus' house and agrees to join him.
They both arrive at the property, but find it surrounded by police.
The housekeeper fills Michael in, explaining that Rufus is dead and she found his body in the swimming pool. Is Stephen responsible?
Wonder whether Stephen killed him first and then put him in the pool or he got into the pool and killed him then... :hmm:
