Emmerdale villain Alex Moore is left for dead next week after being knocked over on a busy road.
The shocking incident takes place after Alex's hidden agenda is finally exposed, so there's no shortage of suspects in the mystery.
Emmerdale has previously revealed that Alex's new relationship with Naomi Walters is all a sham. His true interest lies in getting access to the local doctors surgery, where Manpreet Sharma ? partner of Naomi's father Charles ? works.
In next week's episodes, Billy and Dawn Fletcher attend a court case which will determine whether they get full custody and adoption of Lucas and Clemmie.
Naomi encourages Alex to join them in court and fight for his right to have access to his children.
At the hearing, Billy and Dawn become anxious when the judge points out that their only obstacle would be Alex making a surprise appearance.
It seems that the couple have no reason to be worried, as Alex focuses his efforts on robbing drugs from a pharmacy van.
Once Alex returns to the village, Charles is horrified to find the drugs in the bad boy's car.
An argument follows and Alex ultimately comes clean about how he has been playing the Anderson family for fools over the past few weeks.
Charles feels terrible for Naomi when Alex confesses that he never had any genuine romantic interest in her.
As the confrontation between the two men turns physical, damage is caused to Charles' car.
Charles tries to call the police, but Alex spitefully smashes his phone and hurries off with the drugs.
Later, the village vicar tries to warn Naomi about Alex's deceit.
Charles is frustrated by Naomi's response, so he grabs his keys and heads out for a drive.
Shortly afterwards, Alex ponders his next move while on the side of a road. When he steps into the road, he's hit by a passing car.
A mysterious figure walks towards Alex, who's lifeless on the ground, but the unknown person quickly turns back and runs away.
Was the collision an accident? And is the person who abandons Alex a familiar face?

Emmerdale's Samson Dingle faces a major backlash next week after he's finally caught out for using his baby daughter to extort money from his cousin Noah.
The teenager has demanded major bribes from Noah in recent weeks, promising to stay away from Amelia Spencer and baby Esther in exchange for cash.
Samson is the father of Amelia's young daughter, but has wanted nothing to do with Esther since she was born last October.
When Noah received a large trust fund, Samson hatched a plan to get his hands on the money. He finally started spending time with Amelia and Esther, aware that Noah would feel insecure about being replaced in their new family set-up.
Just as Samson had predicted, Noah started paying him off if he agreed to stay away.
In next week's episodes, Samson starts spending time with Esther again after she's taken to hospital with a temperature.
Amelia is pleased over Samson's growing interest in their daughter, but it's all part of his ploy to demand money from Noah for a third time.
When Samson calls for another payout, Noah reluctantly arranges a bank transfer.
Samson receives the cash and soon upsets Amelia by revoking his desire to spend time with Esther, without any suitable explanation.
Later, Amelia worries that she won't be able to afford Esther's childcare. She suggests that Noah could pay for it with his trust fund, unaware that he has already spent the money on bribing Samson.
Feeling uneasy over the situation, Noah snaps that Amelia only sees him as a cash machine. Amelia is hurt by the accusation and storms off.
Noah's mum Charity witnesses the argument and asks him what's going on. She's alarmed to hear that the trust fund money has already disappeared thanks to Samson's blackmail.
Before long, the terrible truth spreads and Samson finds himself confronted from all angles by his family and friends.
Samson tries to get himself off the hook, but the reality of his actions hits home when his father Sam orders him to find somewhere else to live.
Will Samson ever be forgiven for this?
MONDAY
Mack Boyd may well be madly in love with Charity Dingle and her brood but he's also desperate to have a child of his own. And Chloe's carrying that very child.
Though Mack had the fateful one-night stand with Chloe when he and Charity were on a break after a terrible row about, er, having kids, he hasn't confessed to his betrayal and is hoping his fiery fianc?e will never find out.
After a chat with Nate ? who suggests his mate might be catching feelings for his baby mama and her cargo ? Mack runs into Chloe.
With Nate's words whirring around in his mind, Mack swoons as Chloe reveals she's carrying a boy and tells him to feel her bump as the baby is kicking right there and then!
Oh lord! Is broody Mack starting to feel attached?
There are baby issues happening elsewhere as Samson is still pretending to be a doting dad while secretly taking money from Noah's trust fund to stay away from Amelia and little Esther.
Amelia's boyfriend Noah is sickened when his cousin Samson is later praised for his quick thinking when Esther starts running a really high temperature while he's babysitting her.
Knowing Samson is only pretending to care about his daughter, Noah fumes when his girlfriend Amelia and the likes of her dad, Dan, are being taken in by Samson.
Later, sure enough, Samson makes a big show of wanting to check up on Esther (who's fine by the way) but sneakily insists Noah coughs up another wodge of cash.
Dawn is still furious that Alex is swanning around the village, having got together with the vicar's daughter Naomi. Dawn's tried to tell Naomi not to be taken in by her junkie ex but she hasn't listened.
But Alex is about to reveal his evil true colours when a woman called Clare tracks him down and insists he 'finishes what he started'!
Creeping in to the docs' surgery, it becomes clear that Alex intends to raid the drugs cabinet and is left furious to find it empty.
Coming up with a plan B, he promises Clare he'll deliver.
TUESDAY
Nate Dingle's already put it out there that Mack Boyd's more into his secret baby than he's letting on.
With Chloe having revealed she's carrying Mackenzie's son, emotions are flying high and the cheating pair end up rowing about how things will pan out once the baby's arrived.
While Mack's adamant that he won't be having anything to do with the baby and will, instead, be putting all his energies into his relationship with his fianc?e Charity Dingle.
As a dad who's being kept from his child, Nate just knows his broody friend isn't going to be able to keep away.
Unaware of her fianc? Mack's inner turmoil, Charity's got angst of her own to deal with when she overhears Noah snapping at Amelia.
It's all because Samson has washed his hands of Esther leaving Amelia distraught and wondering how she'll cover the childcare her baby daddy has been doing.
When Amelia asks Noah if she could use some of his trust fund to help, he snaps at his girlfriend. But Noah hasn't got any money of course, as he's been forced to hand it over to his conniving cousin Samson.
Is curious Charity about to find out what's been going on?
At Home Farm, Kim has a decision to make about manny Nicky whose contract is up for renewal.
She ends up offering Nicky a permanent position, unaware that her employee is already breaking the terms of the contract as he's sleeping with Gabby!
As the couple sneak upstairs to 'celebrate' are they about to get caught out?
Elsewhere, with the custody hearing coming up, Manpreet and Naomi urge Alex to fight Dawn and Billy to keep a place in his kids' lives. But all dodgy Alex can think about is the drugs robbery he's planning?
Is his good guy act about to shatter?
WEDNESDAY
Samson Dingle's dirty laundry is about to get an airing ? and as his awful deeds come to light, his dad kicks him out of home.
Charity Dingle is the driving force behind his exposure.
Having found out that he's been conning her lad Noah out of his trust fund, using his own daughter Esther, as bait, she urges Noah to speak out.
Noah's girlfriend Amelia is utterly gobsmacked when he admits Samson's been taking money off of him to keep out of Esther's life.
Crushed that he really has no interest in their baby daughter at all, she storms off to have it out with Samson.
Very quickly, a hullabaloo kicks off as loads more folk become involved, including Samson's dad Sam who's utterly disgusted by the tawdry tale.
Samson comes unstuck when Sam insists he packs his bags and gets gone.
At Home Farm, Charles has got a bone to pick with Will and Kim.
The vicar has learned how the couple kidnapped Alex, forcing him to step away from his kids' lives.
Charles has been totally taken in by Alex's nice guy act and is now convinced his daughter's boyfriend has turned over a new leaf and is nothing like the lowlife he was when he was with Dawn.
But Alex is the same old scumbag he ever was.
Later, posing as village GP Liam, he ascertains when the pharmacy delivery will arrive and gets ready to pounce?
Dawn meanwhile is left worried about the upcoming custody case she and husband Billy are due to attend for Clemmie and Lucas, Alex's kids.
Across the village, Mandy Dingle tries to cater for fragile Paddy's every need, and gets excited about attending a Beauty awards ceremony.
THURSDAY
A nightmare is about to erupt for Charles Anderson.
And it's all down to Alex Moore, his daughter Naomi new bloke, who used to go out with Dawn.
Though Charles was initially super anti this Alex character, the vicar's gone full circle and is now routing for him and urging Alex to fight Dawn for custody of his kids Lucas and Clemmie.
But Charles is going to wish he'd trusted his instincts.
In the courtroom, Dawn and Billy Fletcher are on pins as they wait to hear if they've been awarded full custody of Dawn's kids or whether flakey Alex is going to put a spanner in the works.
Alex has got Naomi's family eating out of his hand and between them, they're all urging him not to give up on his children, Lucas and Clemmie.
He doesn't want anything to do with his kids really. He's been playing Mr Nice Guy and is, really, all about the drugs raid he's been planning with equally dodgy Clare.
As Dawn and Billy wonder if Alex is going to burst in and ruin everything, back in Emmerdale, the absent dad has the pharmacy delivery van in his sights and sets to work?
However the wheels come off Alex's plan? As events unfold, Charles finds the drugs in his car and the penny drops!
Alex then cruelly informs the vicar he had them all fooled and couldn't give a stuff about Naomi.
The situation turns violent as protective dad Charles snaps and launches himself on Alex!
But does Charles go on to run down Alex in his car?
Elsewhere, Mandy Dingle is off to the beauty awards do that she's been looking forward to.
But when she bumps into Paddy, who's in need of a friend, will she sack off her evening out to help him instead?
At Home Farm, secret lovers Gabby and hired nanny, Nicky, are caught getting heavy by Kim's business partner Caleb!
Will Caleb tell Kim, who's made it plain the pair are not to get romantically entangled?
FRIDAY
After a dramatic showdown between village vicar Charles Anderson and Alex Moore, Alex was left lying lifeless in a road having been hit by a car...
But who drove off leaving the drug thief on the ground?
As the police swoop and make an arrest, is Charles about to get cuffed? And if so, is this the end of his career?

At Home Farm, having been caught getting passionate with Nicky, Gabby needs to talk fast. Can she persuade Caleb not to tell Kim who expressly forbade it?

Later, as Samson reluctantly babysits, Sarah discovers Esther has a burning temperature. Panicked, they call an ambulance to take her to hospital.
Meanwhile, Alex lets himself into the surgery but is shocked to find the drugs cabinet empty. However, he soon has a Plan B and urges Clare not to give up on him.
Elsewhere, Mackenzie bumps into Chloe and he's gobsmacked to learn Chloe is having a boy as the baby begins to kick. There's a charged moment between the two as Mackenzie feels the kicking.

With the truth finally revealed, Samson is confronted from all angles by his angry friends and family.
As the confrontation comes to a climax, Samson tries to wriggle off the hook but he's left shaken when an ashamed Sam tells him to find somewhere else to live.
Meanwhile, Charles tries to convince Alex to fight for his kids, but is shocked to learn Kim and Will kidnapped and threatened him over the matter. Soon Charles heads to confront them both and soon Dawn can't believe what she's hearing, hoping their previous actions won't backfire on her case.

Billy and Dawn attend the custody court.
As the court case continues, the judge states that the only way Alex could have his kids were if he arrived now to announce his desire. Billy and Dawn look tense.
Meanwhile, Charles is shocked to discover the drugs in Alex's car. Alex makes a run for it, but Charles gives chase. Alex is tackled by an incensed Charles, causing damage to Charles' car.
After an argument, Alex reveals all about his masterplan. Charles is broken to hear that Alex has been playing them the whole time, including his relationship with Naomi.
Later, by the side of a road, Alex is on the phone to Clare. He hangs up and steps out into the road, only to be hit by a passing car. Alex lies lifeless. A figure walks towards him, before quickly turning back and running away.
Elsewhere, as Mandy gets ready to set off to the Beauty Awards, Paddy is busy heading to see daughter Eve. But when Eve doesn't want to spend the day with him, he's heartbroken. Will Mandy be there for her friend or will her awards prove too important to her?
Also today, Gabby and Nicky are getting hot and heavy in the kitchen when Caleb walks in and catches them red handed. Gabby defends the situation, hoping she has said enough.
