Neighbours reveals release date and plans for classic episodes on Freevee
Some iconic episodes are set to be released later this month.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a42731038/neighbours-release-date-classic-episodes-freevee/

Ahead of the new season launching on Freevee later this year, Amazon is set to drop some classic episodes of Neighbours.

Fans were given a huge surprise late last year when it was revealed that the classic Australian soap would be back, despite being previously cancelled and wrapping up its run last summer.

Now, to get us all nostalgic, Freevee has confirmed that select classic episodes will be heading to the service later this month on February 23, as well as episodes featuring breakout stars like Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, Kylie Minogue and Liam Hemsworth.

The launch date will also include the entire 2012 season, which featured the iconic kiss between Chris and Aidan and Toadie's proposal to Sonya.

Following on from this, the service will launch a library season of Neighbours every month, as well as a number of free ad-supported streaming channels (or FAST channels), including 'Neighbours ? Looking Back' (Channel 1) and 'Best of Neighbours' (Channel 2).

Speaking in December, Amazon's head of content and programming Lauren Anderson teased what fans can expect from the new season of Neighbours.

?We?re going to do everything we have to do ? in front of and behind the camera ? to make sure that we?re delivering a consistent series,? she said.

"We are continuing the show to at least the same level of what audiences have loved for 37 years. The most important thing to us is to make sure that those who love the show already continue to love the show."

She added: "What we?re moving through is what do we want the arc of the first season to be? How do we create a world that?s at once a continuation and also the start of something new. The storyline in a lot of ways is going to mirror what?s happening with the series. It?s a continuation, but it?s in a new place."

The revival series is set to see the return of stars including Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) and Ryan Moloney (Toadie Rebecchi).

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours announces seven more returning cast for the show's revival
Mackenzie, Terese, and more are back.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43114737/neighbours-cast-returning-revival/

Neighbours has announced seven more cast members will be returning for the revival.

The Aussie soap was saved by free streaming service Amazon Freevee last November, months after Channel 5 pulled the plug on it putting an end to a 37-year-long stint.

As the series is gearing up to start filming this spring, more familiar characters are flocking to Ramsay Street, with Annie Jones (as Jane Harris), Rebekah Elmaloglou (as Terese Willis), Georgie Stone (as Mackenzie Hargreaves), and Tim Kano (as Leo Tanaka) reprising their roles as series regulars.

Returning in guest roles are Ian Smith (as Harold Bishop), April Rose Pengilly (as Chloe Brennan), and Melissa Bell (as Lucy Robinson).

They will star alongside the previously announced cast members of the revival, Neighbours long-running stars Stefan Dennis, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney and Jackie Woodburne.

Neighbours seemingly wrapped things with a bow for the residents of Erinsborough, the fictional suburb of Melbourne where the action takes place.

What was thought to be the last-ever episode welcomed back former Neighbours stars whose careers started on Ramsay Street, including Kylie Minogue, Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce.

As for Pearce's character Mike Young, it will be interesting to see how the show will work around his happy ending with Jane, now that Jones is set to return.

Meanwhile, Jodi Gordon has recently hinted at reprising her role as Elly Conway. The original finale saw Elly and Chloe reuniting.

"There are conversations happening, I say that with a big smile on my face," the star recently said, when asked about a potential return.

With Pengilly confirmed as a returning guest star, it appears very possible that Gordon will be back in some capacity as well.

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours star Freya Van Dyke reveals whether Zara is in revival series
"It's insane to me that you all are so supportive."

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43146355/neighbours-freya-van-dyke-zara-denies-return/

Neighbours star Freya Van Dyke has confirmed that she will not be a part of the show's revival? for now.

Freya was a major part of the Australian soap's final year on air as Zara Selwyn, the troublesome daughter of long-running character Amy Greenwood (Jacinta Stapleton).

To set the record straight, Freya shared a statement on her Instagram Story to directly address her future on Neighbours.

"I know a lot of you have been asking. Is Zara coming back to Neighbours? Are you going back to Neighbours? First of all, thank you so much," she told fans. "It's insane to me that you all are so supportive and you want to see Zara back."

Freya then referenced the last cast announcement from the show, which doesn't include Zara in the list of returning characters.

"At this stage, no, Zara is not going back," she clarified. "It's nothing to do with anything beyond what storylines they've decided to go with.

"I am so, so happy for all of the cast who are going back. It's going to be absolutely incredible and there are going to be some incredible storylines. I can't wait for you guys to see it."

The actress also assured fans she has some "exciting" acting work coming up away from Ramsay Street, where she will be working on stage.

But while we shouldn't expect to see this star back, fans will have plenty of familiar faces to look forward to when Neighbours returns. Annie Jones (as Jane Harris), Rebekah Elmaloglou (as Terese Willis), Georgie Stone (as Mackenzie Hargreaves), and Tim Kano (as Leo Tanaka) have all been confirmed to be coming back.

The soap will also have long-running stars Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy), Ryan Moloney (Toadfish Rebecchi) and Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy) all as part of the core cast.

Neighbours star Madeleine West discusses possible return for Dee Bliss in show revival
"I'd be there in a heartbeat!"

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43173252/neighbours-dee-possible-return/

Neighbours star Madeleine West is keen to reprise both Dee Bliss and Andrea Somers in Amazon Freevee's upcoming revival.

West made her Ramsay Street debut all the way back in 2000, leaving in 2003 before returning sporadically between 2017 and 2020.

Joining Australian talk show Studio 10 this week, West was asked about whether she would be back on the soap.

"Look, I'm putting it out there, but if the opportunity was there I'd love to," she replied.

"I didn't have the opportunity to take part in the finale [because] I was doing the Predatory podcast, which took quite a toll. I didn't get a chance to come back and wrap up [Dee and Andrea].

"So if the opportunity is there, I'm on Ten, I'd be there in a heartbeat!"

Freya Van Dyke, who played Amy Greenwood's daughter Zara Selwyn, was also posed the question of whether she'll be back alongside confirmed cast members Annie Jones, Rebekah Elmaloglou, Georgie Stone, Tim Kano, Stefan Dennis, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney and Jackie Woodburne this week.

Setting the record straight, she wrote via Instagram Stories: "I know a lot of you have been asking. Is Zara coming back to Neighbours? Are you going back to Neighbours? First of all, thank you so much.

"It's insane to me that you all are so supportive and you want to see Zara back. At this stage, no, Zara is not going back. It's nothing to do with anything beyond what storylines they've decided to go with.

Neighbours confirms when filming will start on the show's new season
'The New Chapter' begins very soon.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43402555/neighbours-spoilers-filming-start-date/

Neighbours is gearing up to begin filming on its long-awaited new season.

Ever since Freevee saved the show from cancellation earlier last year, fans have been wondering when the cast will get back to work ? and now we know filming is only a few weeks away.

The cast have now confirmed on the final date of their 'Neighbours ? The Celebration Tour' in London that filming begins on April 17, 2023 at Nunawading Studios in Melbourne, Australia. This means Neighbours will air on Amazon Freevee this autumn.

Veteran cast members Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Stefan Dennis, Ryan Moloney, Annie Jones and April Rose Pengilly were all on stage at the London Palladium to make the historic announcement and will all be back for the new season as well.

Neighbours Executive Producer Jason Herbison has also confirmed: "It feels very real now. It?s a hive of activity at the studio. We?re busy writing the next chapter of Neighbours, bringing to life again the show?s much-loved characters as well as new residents.

"It?s exciting to see the sets being prepped, ready to start filming on April 17, which will be a huge day for everyone involved."

Amazon has already released several classic seasons of the Australian soap on its Freevee streaming service, with even more episodes from 2013 being added on Thursday (March 23).

Legendary cast member Alan Fletcher has promised the new episodes will be "incredibly exciting" for both classic fans and newcomers alike.

"I was reflecting on this with Jackie (Woodburne) the other day. I've been doing this show for 28 years, the show's been going for 37 years," he told UTV Life. "It changed over that time, the production values increased. But now we get to do a re-do.

"It'll still be the same show... but we will be able to make it even better."

"Ned has not been asked back. I can tell you that he's not going back at this point in time," he said in a recent video message for a superfan.

"If they deign to bring back Ned Willis, then I'd love to be there. I'd love to see everyone again, actually."

Neighbours filming begins again today, Mon April 17th, in Australia. A couple of announcements have been made:

Neighbours secures Ramsay St location, Lucinda Cowden returns.
As cameras roll once more, there were two key announcements at last night's Neighbours Celebration show in Melbourne.

https://tvtonight.com.au/2023/04/neighbours-secures-ramsay-st-location-lucinda-cowden-returns.html

Neighbours begins production today in Melbourne for Network 10 and Amazon Freevee / Prime Video with confirmation it has secured the location of its ?Ramsay Street? home, Pin Oak Court in Vermont South.

The news was revealed at last night?s Neighbours: The Celebration stage show in Melbourne.

But it isn?t clear if there are any exclusions and some homes have undergone changes by their owners.

April Rose Pengilly explained, ?People had been under contract for years so if they wanted to get a new fence it had to get approved. But when contracts lapsed they all went ?Great, renovation time!'?

Actor Lucinda Cowden also confirmed the return of Melanie Pearson, who married Toadie in the season finale.

?She?s comin? back!? she announced.

?It?s (been) so hard not to share. People were just fighting for me, and I just want to say thank you to you all,? she said to the fans.?

Last night?s event, hosted by Jennifer Hansen, also included Alan Fletcher, Annie Jones, Ian Smith, Anne Charleston and Tim Kano.

Neighbours' revival series is set to resume filming tomorrow (April 17), and now another cast member has been announced.

Taking to Twitter today (April 16) Neighbours confirmed the return of actress Lucinda Cowden who will be reprising her role as Melanie Pearson on the soap.

Along with a picture of Cowden in character as Melanie, they tweeted: "We're so excited to announce that Lucinda Cowden will be reprising her role as Melanie Pearson in new episodes of Neighbours later this year. We can't wait to welcome her back (and maybe her pig collection too). Even Madame Zolga couldn't have predicted this one!"

Back in 2022, Neighbours was cancelled after 37 years on air, leading to an emotional goodbye. But, after a few months, it was saved by Amazon Freevee and is set to return later in 2023.

Among the stars due to return to the soap are Toadie Rebecchi actor Ryan Moloney, Paul Robinson actor Stefan Davis, Susan Kennedy star Jackie Woodburne and Alan Fletcher as Karl Kennedy.

It's good news for Toadie actor Ryan Moloney, who tied the knot with Melanie in the show's emotional finale.

Moloney previously spoke about his hopes for Lucinda Cowden to return saying: "I definitely would like to see the return of Mel, as otherwise it'd be another death in the family!"

Speaking recently about his return to the soap, Moloney teased a possible time jump: "We're meant to start filming in April and it'll go to air later in the year. They said they were thinking of maybe jumping ahead a couple of years but I don't know."

Neighbours films with three more returning cast members
New episodes are being shot on Ramsay Street.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43629460/neighbours-spoilers-rodwell-family-return/

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours' Rodwell family will be returning to the show for the new season.

Lloyd Will, Emerald Chan and Candice Leask were all on set yesterday (April 17) as filming began for the revival series.

Lloyd, Emerald and Candice played Andrew, Sadie and Wendy Rodwell respectively in the "final" few months of Neighbours.

At the time, they were believed to be the last ever family to move onto Ramsay Street, become show regulars and make it into the opening titles.

Paparazzi photographers yesterday caught the trio working on location at Pin Oak Court, the real-life location of Ramsay Street. Show bosses have secured permission to continue filming on the Street, which has real-life residents living in the houses.

Cast members were seen moving boxes, hinting that some changes in living arrangements could be on the way for Ramsay Street.

As no formal announcement has been made over the Rodwells' return, it's currently unclear whether they're back full time or as guests.

Late last year, Candice Leask addressed questions over the Rodwells' future when Neighbours was confirmed to be returning.

Candice told her Twitter followers at the time: "Haven't been on Twitter in Ages! Thx u as ALWAYS to the amazing Neighbours Twitter family who sent msgs hoping for a Rodwell/Wendy Revival.

"Even though no one knows who the new cast will be, I'm just so happy the fans were heard & your favorite show is coming back to you."

Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy), Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy) and Ryan Moloney (Toadie Rebecchi) have all been confirmed to return as Neighbours regulars alongside Tim Kano (Leo Tanaka), Rebekah Elmaloglou (Terese Willis), Georgie Stone (Mackenzie Hargreaves) and Annie Jones (Jane Harris).

Ian Smith (Harold Bishop), April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) and Melissa Bell (Lucy Robinson) have been announced as guest returnees.

Lucinda Cowden has also been confirmed for a comeback as Melanie Pearson, but the show hasn't specified whether she'll be a regular or a guest.

https://metro.co.uk/2023/04/20/mischa-barton-films-neighbours-as-another-return-is-confirmed-18643743/?ito=newsnow-feed

Filming has commenced on the highly-anticipated relaunch of Neighbours, with Hollywood star Mischa Barton having already been spotted on set.

The actress, who is best known for playing Marissa Cooper on The OC, will guest star in the revival series of the Aussie soap, which was rescued by Amazon Freevee last year shortly after its cancellation by Channel 5.

Mischa will portray mysterious newcomer Reece, an American who rocks up in Ramsay Street with a secret, with subsequent scenes set to reveal that she?s not who she appears to be.

?I?m excited to be part of this iconic show?s next chapter, and I am really looking forward to being back in Australia a place I know and love!,? said the Invitation to Murder star.

?I think the character of Reece is going to be a great role for me to explore and play with.?

Neighbours? executive producer Jason Herbison added: ?With Neighbours launching on Amazon Freevee in North America, we are beyond excited to have an actor of Mischa?s calibre join us for the beginning of this exciting new chapter.

?Mischa?s character is dynamic and unpredictable, and will have an instant presence on Ramsay Street. Our loyal viewers are going to love her, locally and abroad.?

Mischa was pictured arriving at Nunawading studios in Melbourne, where the popular soap is filmed.

Neighbours resumed production earlier this week, with the new series set to launch on Freevee, Amazon?s free ad-supported streaming service, later in the year.

Cast members including Rebekah Elmaloglou, Tim Kano and Georgie Stone, who play Terese Willis, Leo Tanaka and Mackenzie Hargreaves respectively, were all pictured on set, as was Emerald Chan, who played Sadie Rodwell during the show?s final few months on Channel 5, which confirms her return too.

Word of Neighbours? revival was broke to audiences in a specially filmed video clip, featuring Jackie Woodburne, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney and Stefan Dennis, who play Susan Kennedy, Karl Kennedy, Toadie Rebecchi and Paul Robinson, confirming that they have all signed on to take part in the sequel series.

A further announcement was made in February, with Annie Jones, who played Jane ?Plain Jane Superbrain? Harris, set to reprise her iconic role, alongside Rebekah, Georgie and Tim, who will also be full-time series regulars.

Melissa Bell, who plays Lucy Robinson, will also be back in a recurring capacity, as will April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) and Harold Bishop star Ian Smith, with Melanie Person star Lucinda Cowden set to return full-time.

Neighbours returns to screens on Amazon Freevee later this year, with hundreds of classic episodes already available to stream.

Ian Smith is happy to return to Neighbours in guest appearances, but he?s also looking forward to a decent retirement.

?I do want to retire, ? he confirmed this week at the Neighbours: The Celebration event in Melbourne.

?They?ve been so kind to let me come back to do bibs and bobs.?

Asked if Harold is likely to have changed in any way he said the character had found a sweet spot.

?People know that he can turn in a second. If he thinks there?s been an injustice done he will fight like fire. But if he gets caught in a corner he can be a little bit stupid. He?ll blunder and buster around until he gets out of it,? he said.

Quizzed on Harold?s infamous amnesia storyline, he said, ?There are times when you think ?Here we go, it?s a soap plot?. but I?m happy to say they have shown Harold a lot of respect.

?Apart from the time when Bouncer had a dream about him.?

Neighbours legend Ian Smith discusses future as Harold Bishop
"I do want to retire."

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43666352/neighbours-harold-bishop-future-ian-smith/

Neighbours fans will agree that Ian Smith, who has played Harold Bishop on and off on the show since 1987, deserves a nice retirement.

Smith, who first left the show in 1991 but returned in 1996, 2011, 2015 and again for last year's would-be finale, is part of the guest cast for Amazon Freevee's upcoming revival.

Smith took part in Melbourne's Neighbours: The Celebration Tour this week, when he was asked about long-term goals.

He said (via TV Tonight): "I do want to retire. They've been so kind to let me come back to do bibs and bobs."

As for what we can expect from Harold in the all-new Neighbours, Smith reassured assured the event's attendees that his character's often combustible personality won't be diminished.

"People know that he can turn in a second," he noted. "If he thinks there's been an injustice done he will fight like fire.

"But if he gets caught in a corner he can be a little bit stupid. He'll blunder and bluster around until he gets out of it."

Meanwhile, Smith's co-star Alan Fletcher has praised the all-new Neighbours as "even better" than the original.

"I've been doing this show for 28 years, the show's been going for 37 years. It changed over that time, the production values increased. But now we get to do a re-do," he began.

"It'll still be the same show... but we will be able to make it even better. I think this next season is gonna be incredibly exciting."

Neighbours releases first official picture of returnee back on set
"What kind of trouble will she be causing in Erinsborough next?"

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43684505/neighbours-first-official-picture-emerald-chan/

Neighbours has given fans a first look at Emerald Chan back on the set of the revival.

The Aussie soap has been picked up by Amazon Freevee following its cancellation last year. Chan, who plays Sadie Rodwell on the show, was among the last characters to be introduced as series regulars before Neighbours said goodbye to fans in an emotional final episode in July 2022.

After being spotted on set earlier this month, Chan has now been confirmed as returning in the new batch of episodes.

"We're very excited to announce that Emerald Chan will be reprising her role as Sadie Rodwell in all new episodes of #Neighbours later this year," the soap shared on its social media channels.

"What kind of trouble will Sadie be causing in Erinsborough next? We can't wait to find out!"

Chan commented on the announcement, writing "so happy to be back" and adding a red heart emoji.

Chan was seen back on Ramsay Street together with Lloyd Will and Candice Leask, who play Sadie's parents Andrew and Wendy.

No formal announcement has been made as of yet regarding Will and Leask's return, but it may not be long before Neighbours clarifies their status for the new episodes.

Meanwhile, the show has introduced the first Erinsborough newcomer by casting The OC star Mischa Barton in the role of Reece, an American. While details of her character are being kept under wraps, it seems that Reece's arrival to Ramsay Street conceals some mysterious motivations, setting up an explosive storyline.

Neighbours has released an official photo of Lloyd Will back as Andrew Rodwell for the soap's highly anticipated revival.

After being spotted on set earlier this month, Will's return as Andrew has officially been confirmed with a photo posted to the soap's Instagram page.

"We're very happy to announce that Lloyd Will is also reprising his role as Sergeant Andrew Rodwell in the new season of Neighbours," the post was captioned. "Who else was going to keep those Erinsborough residents in check?"

"Great to be back," Will commented on the announcement, while plenty of fans also shared their excitement.

Lloyd was spotted filming on the set of Neighbours earlier this month along with Emerald Chan and Candice Leask, who play Sadie and Wendy Rodwell respectively.

Chan's return was officially announced earlier this week, which just leaves Leask, though it surely won't be long before the Rodwell family are completed.

Other returning cast members include Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy), Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy) and Ryan Moloney (Toadie Rebecchi), as well as Tim Kano (Leo Tanaka), Rebekah Elmaloglou (Terese Willis), Georgie Stone (Mackenzie Hargreaves) and Annie Jones (Jane Harris).

Ian Smith (Harold Bishop), April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) and Melissa Bell (Lucy Robinson) will all make an appearance as guest stars.

Meanwhile, former The OC and The Hills star Mischa Barton will make her Neighbours debut as an American named Reece, whose arrival in Erinsborough is set to shake things up.

Alan Fletcher details what it's like reuniting with his "family" on the Neighbours reboot set
It's like they never said goodbye!

https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/neighbours/neighbours-reboot-alan-fletcher-77511

When Alan Fletcher first walked back onto the Neighbours set at Melbourne's Nunawading Studios, it was as if nothing had changed. There was the same security guard outside the building. He caught up with old friends.

"Everything old was new again," Alan, 66, tells TV WEEK from the set of the resurrected Aussie drama. "But it was screamingly apparent what had changed and what hadn't.

"Neighbours has always been a family. You'd see someone from the past and give them a big hug, then you'd turn a corner and see someone new and ask, 'What's your name? What department are you in?'"

With scripts in hand and rehearsing, the cast are now well and truly back at work. Alan has been poring over three weeks' worth of scripts and says the new stories "are fantastic".

"When people see it [Neighbours], it will be like coming back to a familiar friend," Alan says. "What will be interesting to see are the subtle changes made to how it looks and how we film."

Of course, fans were surprised in November when it was announced the show was rescued by streaming platform Amazon Freevee, just a few months after Neighbours aired what was then thought to be its last hurrah. It was a suitably star-filled episode, featuring original cast members Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce.

Returning for the reboot are a cavalcade of Ramsay Street favourites. Along with Alan, who reprises his role as Dr Karl Kennedy, Stefan Dennis, Jackie Woodburne, Melissa Bell, Ryan Moloney, Annie Jones, Rebekah Elmaloglou, Lucinda Cowden, Georgie Stone and Tim Kano are back ? as is the legendary Ian Smith as iconic Neighbours character Harold Bishop.

There are also new cast members joining the show. UK-born American film and TV actress Mischa Barton ? famous for playing troubled teen Marissa Cooper in hit 2000s drama The OC ? has already been announced, but Alan teases there are more he can't discuss just yet.

What fans can't wait to see is what's next for Ryan and Lucinda's characters Toadie and Melanie, who tied the knot last year.

What of scheming Paul (Stefan) and his roller-coaster relationship with Terese (Rebekah)? And how will the show's writers resolve the Jane (Annie) and Mike (Guy Pearce) storyline, after the former lovers reunited in the final episode?

"There are lot of things for fans to be excited about," Alan says of the 2023 season to come. "Neighbours will pull out all the stops to surprise audiences."

As for Karl and Susan (Jackie), he says historically a lot of the drama has revolved around the characters "moving through" the Kennedy household, which he expects to continue.

"There's enormous potential for anything," he says. "It's a new adventure and it's wonderful to be part of that."

New episodes of Neighbours will air on Network 10 later in the year. They will then be available on Prime Video seven days later.

For Corrie fans:

Could THIS much-loved Coronation Street star be making the move to Neighbours?
Coronation Street star Ciar?n Griffiths has spoken out about whether he'd return down under

https://www.whattowatch.com/news/could-this-much-loved-coronation-street-star-be-making-the-move-to-neighbours

He's playing one of Cornation Street's most controvesial characters at the moment, but could Ciar?n Griffiths, who plays Damon Hay in the ITV show, be heading for sunnier shores?

The Coronation Street actor recently addressed whether or not he'd return to his homeland of Australia - perhaps even making an appearance on Neighbours.

Damon Hay is in the Corrie spotlight right now due to his affair with married Sarah Barlow, with many Corrie fans left in shock over the developments.

While it's unclear how long Ciar?n will be staying on the show, it's thought that he won't be a long-term Corrie character.

Yeah, if it meant I could have regular work near my family, then absolutely," he told Inside Soap.

"Melbourne is a great city. I'd want to play something completely different to anything I've done before, so maybe some old washed-up, Meth-head surfer. I'd get to be out in the sun!"

And it seems there are some more plus points when it comes to filming in Aus, which is known for its healthy work/life balance as well as fantastic weather.

When comparing filming in Australia as opposed to the UK, Ciar?n said, "They're a lot more laid-back in Australia. The pace is a bit slower ? but the weather's better!

"When I'm here freezing on the cobbles and they say they're taking your coat as we're going for a take and you have to act warm, it's hard! I did a job in Melbourne last January; it was scorching.

'I can't handle the cold now."

Sounds like a convincing argument to us! Watch this space for Ciar?n's next move...

"All we can say is the Rodwells are back with a bang."

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43854100/neighbours-candice-leask-lloyd-will-rodwell-storyline/

Neighbours stars Candice Leask and Lloyd Will have hinted at a dramatic story for the Rodwell family ahead of the soap's return later this year.

The pair ? who play Wendy and Andrew Rodwell, respectively ? teased a storyline for the family in an on-set video, which was posted to the show's Instagram account.

"This is one of our first scenes back at the Rodwell house, and we are super excited to be back on set. I can't wait to bring it all to you back at home," Lloyd began.

"I am so, so thrilled to be here with Lloyd today," added Candice. "We've got so many people working around us and all we can say is the Rodwells are back with a bang. See you soon!"

Candice and Lloyd were both announced as returning cast members alongside Emerald Chan last month, with the latter reprising her role as Sadie Rodwell.

One new cast member will be The OC alum Mischa Barton. She's joining the Australian soap as Reece, an American whose arrival in Erinsborough is "far from what it appears to be".

Neighbours casts Big Brother Australia star Xavier Molyneux for new season
The actor and reality TV star is spotted on set.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43873713/neighbours-xavier-molyneux/

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours bosses have cast Big Brother Australia star Xavier Molyneux for the show's revival series.

Paparazzi photographers have caught Xavier working on location at Pin Oak Court in Melbourne, which is the real-life location of Ramsay Street.

Xavier was pictured alongside The OC star Mischa Barton, who was previously confirmed for an exciting guest role on the new season.

As Xavier's involvement with Neighbours hasn't been officially announced yet, there's no confirmation on which character he'll be playing.

Xavier will already be familiar to some fans, as he competed on the 12th series of Big Brother Australia in 2020.

Since leaving the Big Brother house, Xavier has filmed roles in short films Girl and Aussie of the Year. He has also been involved in the film Take My Hand alongside Adam Demos, Radha Mitchell and former Home and Away star Jake Ryan.

Neighbours has made several casting announcements in recent months, with filming for the new season now well under way.

Last month, Mischa was confirmed to be playing the guest role of Reece, an American who's new to Erinsborough and not quite who she appears to be.

Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison recently said: "With Neighbours launching on Amazon Freevee in North America, we are beyond excited to have an actor of Mischa's calibre join us for the beginning of this exciting new chapter.

"Mischa's character is dynamic and unpredictable, and will have an instant presence on Ramsay Street. Our loyal viewers are going to love her, locally and abroad."

Guy Pearce set for surprise return in Neighbours reboot

https://www.theage.com.au/culture/tv-and-radio/guy-pearce-set-for-surprise-return-in-neighbours-reboot-20230512-p5d80s.html

Guy Pearce is set to return to Ramsay Street when the rebooted Neighbours airs later this year.

The Emmy Award-winning actor helped send the show off with a bang last July when he reprised the role of Mike Young, the character he played in more than 450 episodes between 1986 and 1989, for what was meant to be the long-running soap?s finale after 37 years on air.

Reconnecting with old flame Jane Harris (Annie Jones), Pearce?s Mike played a major role in the final three episodes (screened in one movie-length block), and by the end had bought a house and returned to Ramsay Street.

It was a gesture of enormous goodwill from an actor whose career has soared since he made his debut on the show as a 17-year-old novice. But when Amazon and Ten announced they had joined forces to revive the show just four months later, Pearce?s generosity came back to bite him.

?I was a little thrown by that,? Pearce said, in an interview recorded for the Good Weekend Talks podcast. ?Annie and I called each other, ?what do we do now, because we?re living in the street?,? he said, referring to Jones, who returned to the show in 2020 after her own extended period away.

?And she said, ?well I?m all right because I?m on the show anyway, but what are you going to do?? I said, ?I don?t know?. So we?re in the process of working it out.?

Asked if viewers could expect to see him return, Pearce said, ?you may, you may? before making it clear they in fact would.

?Obviously, if I?m going to extricate myself from the show, I want to do it respectfully,? he said. ?I wasn?t just gonna go, ?well, bad luck. You had your chance, that was it?, you know. So there may be a little appearance or two, shall we say.?

Asked if it felt like he had been ambushed, and if the familiar suburban court where the show is set was beginning to fell like a career cul de sac, Pearce laughed.

?It?s the gift that keeps on giving, as they say.

?It?s all right,? he added. ?I?m happy to be there.?

In a revealing interview for Good Weekend Talks, Pearce also shared his thoughts on becoming a father after long believing he didn?t ever want to have children, his unconventional relationship with Dutch actress Carice Van Houten, his thoughts on playing second fiddle versus leading man, and the curious story of The Family, the weird Melbourne cult that inspired his new project, the Disney+ drama The Clearing.

And now the DS article:

Guy Pearce hints at another Neighbours return as Mike Young
"We're in the process of working it out."

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43947515/guy-pearce-neighbours-2023-return/

Guy Pearce could be heading back to Ramsay Street, once the revived Neighbours begins airing on Amazon Freevee.

The actor played Mike Young on the Australian soap in the 1980s before going to Hollywood, starring in Memento and Iron Man 3.

When the Australian soap opera was believed to be ending for good last year, Pearce returned for a multi episode arc in which Mike reunited with old flame Jane Harris, played by Annie Jones.

After taking time out of his busy schedule to help to say goodbye to the thing that launched his career, he ended up creating a plot thread that fans would love to see more of.

"I was a little thrown by that," he told the Sydney Morning Herald's Good Weekend Talks podcast. "Annie and I called each other [and said] 'what do we do now, because we?re living in the street'. And she said, 'Well, I'm all right because I'm on the show anyway, but what are you going to do?'

"I said, 'I don't know'. So we're in the process of working it out."

lthough the finer details may take some time, Pearce says he's definitely up for a return in the revival.

"Obviously, if I'm going to extricate myself from the show, I want to do it respectfully," he continued. "I wasn?t just gonna go, 'well, bad luck. You had your chance, that was it'. So there may be a little appearance or two, shall we say."

The revival has already begun filming, while Amazon Freevee has recently added episodes from 2015 and 2016 to its service for viewers to watch again in anticipation.

What's going to happen between him and Jane?

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a43956324/neighbours-guy-pearce-mike-young-return/

Neighbours is officially bringing back Guy Pearce as Mike Young for the revival on Amazon Freevee.

The Australian soap's official Twitter account confirmed the news, tweeting: "It's official folks... Guy Pearce is riding back into Erinsborough as Mike Young in all new episodes of #neighbours later this year..."

Jason Herbison, the executive producer, told the Herald Sun: "We are delighted that Guy is returning to continue Mike and Jane's reunion. It was a highlight of last year's finale and (there is) definitely more story to tell for these much-loved characters..."

https://twitter.com/neighbours/status/1660447694966620161?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5 Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1660447694966620161%7Ctwgr% 5E26f74c02624ca9c0ee80651f7d29e32837180a60%7Ctwcon %5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.digitalspy.com%2Fsoaps%2 Fneighbours%2Fa43956324%2Fneighbours-guy-pearce-mike-young-return%2F

We don't know how long Pearce will be back for, but he teased last week that since his previous return turned out not to be an ending, he feels like it's right by the soap and the character to come back again, rather than have Neighbours return and write Mike out off-screen.

"Obviously, if I'm going to extricate myself from the show, I want to do it respectfully," he said last week. "I wasn?t just gonna go, 'Well, bad luck. You had your chance, that was it'. So there may be a little appearance or two, shall we say."

Pearce admitted to being taken aback by the news that the soap is coming back, and called up Jane actress Annie Jones to talk about it, when he learned that she has signed up to be on the revival full-time.

If Pearce is only back for a short time, does that mean that the couple will be split up?

Hopefully we'll find out sooner rather than later, as filming has already begun. Meanwhile, Amazon Freevee has recently added episodes from 2015 and 2016 to its service for viewers to watch again in anticipation.

Singer Imbruglia, who starred as Beth Brennan in the original soap, has admitted she would consider returning to the show.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, she was asked by host Ed Balls whether she would be tempted to star in Neighbours again, and replied, "Never say never," before saying she would "love" to do something with Guy Pearce, who will be returning as Mike Young.

"They haven't approached me, but I mean, if Guy Pearce is coming back I'd have to consider it. I'd love to do something with Guy," she continued.

The star also spoke about her return in the show's finale and pondered whether creators knew that Neighbours had been saved while the cast filmed.

"I wonder if they knew when we shot that, we didn't know anything about this other re-emergence of Neighbours," she said.

"It was actually Holly Candy who said to me, 'Are you doing this thing?' And I said, 'I will if you will', and we weren't even on the show together so it was so fun to do it with her.

"Obviously it made no sense, but it was the final episode and it was about saying thank you to the show because that's where my career started."

Before we can enjoy new episodes of the soap, a series of classic episodes will be coming to Freevee, Digital Spy exclusively revealed.

The free streaming service will add 50 more of the show's best-ever editions on Thursday, June 15.

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours legend Alan Fletcher teases huge return storylines and new tour
"They're some of the most exciting scripts I've ever seen in the show."

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a44066687/neighbours-alan-fletcher-return-tour-interview/

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Life has never been busier for Neighbours legend Alan Fletcher. Just a few weeks after filming the iconic soap's big return episode, Alan has made the trip over to the UK for a month-long tour.

Alan is taking a break from filming to star in The Doctor Will See You Now, an interview-style show that looks back on his most memorable moments as Karl Kennedy ? and teases the future of the Neighbours.

Digital Spy recently caught up with Alan for an exclusive chat about the tour and Neighbours' new season.

What can you tell us about your tour?

"We do 23 shows in 35 days across the country. On the days that I'm not doing shows, I'm generally travelling between venues. It's a pretty intensive tour but I love being on the road.

"My wife Jen [Hansen] is with me doing the show. We both went on the Neighbours Celebration Tour earlier in the year, and then followed it up with a two-week music tour straight after. Being on the road is a lot of fun for us."

What can the fans expect from The Doctor Will See You Now?

"I did a warm-up tour for the Dr Karl show last year. I'm very mindful that a lot of people who came to see me then are coming again this year, so I've done quite a bit of work in revamping the show. I've brought in some new elements and I do a much deeper dive into some of Karl Kennedy's biggest moments. I've also added more music into the show.

"This time, we do a much deeper dive into the early years of the Kennedy family and the relationship that Karl and Susan had with their children. It's important not to gloss over that ? those first four years of the Kennedys really established the characters and made the family beloved, I suppose.

"We also explore the big stories with Sarah and Izzy in more detail as well. There are some moments that we see all the time, like when Susan slapped Karl! But I think it's really interesting to go in there and see how other people were involved ? like Toadie and Billy were really involved in Sarah's storyline. It's great to be able to rediscover those elements that may have been forgotten."

Do you mention Greg Cooper, the other Neighbours character you played in 1987?

"Oh most certainly yes! I think Greg has to be acknowledged. It was enormous fun for me to come and play him because I was working with so many pals ? Stefan Dennis, Paul Keane, people like that.

"They did actually invite me to reprise the role of Greg Cooper on Neighbours but I declined because I was doing theatre! I had no concept at all of how popular Neighbours was at the time. Although, if I had reprised the role of Greg Cooper, I never would have got to play Karl Kennedy."

Neighbours has only been filming again for a few weeks. Will Karl have to take a break because of the tour?

"Neighbours were very good about the fact that this tour was pre-planned before the show was coming back, so they've made some adjustments. But mercifully, because there are production breaks in Neighbours' schedule, I won't be off air for very long even though I'm over here for a long time.

"There's a very good story reason for Karl to go away. Of course, there's so much other stuff going on that I don't think anyone's going to miss Karl!"

So what can you tell us about Neighbours' new season?

"The new storylines that they've got for these first few weeks of Neighbours are startling. I actually got in contact with our story team by email the other night when I read the latest scripts that I've received, just to congratulate them.

"They're some of the most innovative and exciting scripts I've ever seen in the show on my 28 years. The fans have got an enormous amount to look forward to."

When the show was axed, you encouraged people not to get their hopes up about a reprieve! Has the Amazon Freevee pick-up been beyond your wildest dreams?

"No question ? I could not have imagined on any planet that this could happen! I was told later by Amazon executives that it was the fans' outpouring of grief, the petitions and all the social media that drew their attention.

"This is very much a miracle caused by the love of the fans. I think they should be very, very proud and they should take ownership of the fact that they are responsible for getting Neighbours back on air.

"I say thank you to them from the bottom of my heart because the show means so much to me. They are remarkable, and doing the show every night gives me an opportunity to come face-to-face with them every week and say thank-you."

Was the first day of filming emotional?

"Yes, it was incredibly emotional, but also very exciting because we've got a bunch of new people working on the show. Obviously we've got all of our returning cast who've been announced, but we've also got some new cast who people will find out about over time. We've got new crew as well.

"It's extraordinary how the show has been reinvigorated and reimagined by having new people coming in. It's just made things so exciting.

"I now find myself waiting desperately for the new scripts to land in my inbox so I can find out what's happening next. There's so many characters there that I can follow with enormous interest. It's very exciting times and wonderfully joyous to be back."

With Guy Pearce coming back and Mischa Barton joining the cast, there are certainly some big names involved?

"I'm just full of admiration for Guy. He really stepped up last year for the Neighbours finale and did three full episodes. Him, Annie Jones and Henrietta Graham were responsible for some of the best stories in those final episodes.

"When I heard that Guy was going to step up again for the new Neighbours, I thought that just sums up what a fantastic bloke he is. He always said that he's very, very aware of the debt he owes to Neighbours and he honours the show and he's doing that by coming back.

"Mischa Barton's casting is a stroke of genius. Amazon will be showing Neighbours in America and Canada as well. A lot of people loved The OC and they loved Mischa in the show. Even my son, who doesn't tend to watch Neighbours, said that he'd be watching because he loved The OC so much.

"I think it's a great piece of casting and hopefully will help us to establish a new audience in America."

Do you think streaming is the future of soaps?

"I don't know! I'm not a TV executive so I don't know exactly what's going to happen with that sort of thing. People have been prophesying the death of free-to-air TV for a very long time!

"I think there's different types of viewers for soaps. There's a young audience, the YouTube generation, who like to watch things on-demand. There's also a fiercely loyal audience, particularly in the UK, who watch at a particular time of day and that's important to them because it's part of their daily routine.

"I think, as they say on Neighbours, there'll probably be a perfect blend of soaps on streaming and free-to-air."

We've always loved Neighbours in the UK, but do you think Australia will start to become more supportive of the show again after this one-year break?

"I think it's going to be quite a change. When Australia found out that Neighbours was ending, we had around 1.5 million people watch the last episode. Now in Australia, that figure is huge and it was the highest-rated programme of the night.

"I think the interest that has been generated by Neighbours returning will be sufficient to really bring the audience back up in Australia as well.

"Of course, we had 5 million Brits watching the last episode as well, plus the Irish and people in other countries. So I hope and pray that when the first episode goes to air on Freevee later this year, they'll all come rushing back to watch again."

The Doctor Will See You Now tour runs in June and July, with all dates and locations available on Alan's official website.

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Taking to Instagram, April (who plays Chloe) shared a sweet video of herself and Jodi Gordon (who plays Elly) hugging and blowing a kiss on Ramsay Street.

"The street always has a way of bringing people back," she captioned the post, referring to Susan Kennedy's emotional monologue from the 'final' episode last year.

Chloe and Elly reunited in the final episodes of Neighbours' original run, with April and Jodi saying they were "grateful" to bring some closure to the "greatest love story ever told".

Welcome Back To Ramsay Street ? Here's Everything We Know About Neighbours' Return
From returning cast members and new characters, to the UK start date and plot spoilers, there's a lot for Neighbours fans to be excited about.

https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/neighbours-uk-return-date-cast-spoilers-amazon_uk_649c4927e4b0912a6886ed56

Neighbours fans were left feeling bereft in March 2022, when it was announced that the Australian soap would be coming to an end after 37 years.

The news followed months of desperate searching to find a new international broadcast partner to help fund the show, after its biggest investor ? the UK?s Channel 5 ? made the decision to pull out and stop airing it.

Come July, we said a tearful goodbye to the residents of Ramsay Street ? seemingly forever ? but just four months later, it was revealed Neighbours was about to pull off the biggest back-from-the-dead plot twist in soap history.

Bosses announced that a new deal had been struck with Amazon, meaning the show would be able to produce new episodes to air on the free streaming service Freevee in the UK, internationally on Prime Video, and return to Network 10 in Australia.

With filming on the new Neighbours episodes having begun back in April, the countdown is officially on until we?re welcomed back to Erinsborough. Here?s everything we know about its return so far...

When is Neighbours back?

Amazon has confirmed that Neighbours will begin streaming new episodes on Freevee in the UK from Monday 18 September.

It is not yet known exactly when it will begin in Australia, but Network 10 has retained first-run rights to the show, suggesting there may be a slight lag in between episodes broadcasting in Oz and landing on Freevee.

Whatever the outcome, though, we shouldn?t expect too big a gap, as the show was previously confirmed for an unspecified September launch Down Under.

In the meantime, UK fans can watch iconic episodes from the Neighbours archive, and the complete 2012 ? 2018 seasons, on Freevee.

How did Neighbours end in 2022?

Neighbours appeared to be pretty well wrapped up by the time its finale aired in July 2022, with lots of long-running storylines reaching a conclusion, and a host of former residents returning to the street to bid farewell.

While the last episode was set against the wedding of Toadie Rebecchi and Melanie Pearson, the big news was the return of the show?s 80s power couple Charlene and Scott Robinson, played by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.

The couple ? who hadn?t been seen on Ramsay Street since 1988 ? paid an unexpected visit to Erinsborough, as the show reunited another of its much-loved 80s pairings, Jane Harris and Mike Young.

Guy Pearce jetted in from Hollywood to film scenes for the soap?s swan song, as his character moved back to the Street to give things another go with his former love Jane.

There were also romantic reunions for Terese Willis and Paul Robinson, Chloe Brennan and Elly Conway, and Nicolette Stone and Kiri Durant.

With all but one of the houses on Ramsay Street up for sale in the final days of the series, it ended will all the residents ? bar Chloe, who decided to move to Sydney with Elly ? choosing to stay put.

Neighbours? closing moments then saw Susan Kennedy looking affectionately at her friends and neighbours at their Street party, as actor Jackie Woodburne narrated a moving entry into the Ramsay Street History Book.

Which characters are returning to Neighbours for the reboot?

The news Neighbours was returning came with confirmation that long-standing cast members Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Stefan Dennis and Ryan Moloney would be back.

Since then, there have been a number of announcements about Neighbours? returning full-time cast, and the those confirmed so far are:

Alan Fletcher as Dr Karl Kennedy
Jackie Woodburne as Susan Kennedy
Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson
Ryan Moloney as Toadie Rebecchi
Annie Jones as Jane Harris
Rebekah Elmaloglou as Terese Willis
Georgie Stone as Mackenzie Hargreaves
Tim Kano as Leo Tanaka
Lucinda Cowden as Melanie Pearson
Lloyd Will as Andrew Rodwell
Candice Leask as Wendy Rodwell
Emerald Chan as Sadie Rodwell
Lucinda Armstrong Hall as Holly Hoyland

A number of other characters are confirmed for guest appearances in the new episodes, who are:

Melissa Bell as Lucy Robinson
Ian Smith as Harold Bishop
April Rose Pengilly as Chloe Brennan
Guy Pearce as Mike Young
Jodi Gordon as Elly Conway

Meanwhile, fan forums and Reddit threads are awash with speculation there are more returning cast members still to be announced, who include:

Morgan Baker as Callum Rebecchi
Takaya Honda as David Tanaka
Matt Wilson as Aaron Brennan
Bonnie Anderson as Bea Nilsson
Benjamin McNair as Malcom Kennedy
It has also been claimed the role of Nicolette Stone has been recast to new actor Hannah Monson, taking over from Charlotte Chimes, who has confirmed she will not be part of the reboot.

There have also been suggestions that Toadie?s youngest children, Nell and Hugo Rebecchi, have been recast, as well as Jane Harris? son Byron, who was previously played by Joe Klocek for a guest stint in the show?s final weeks.

Who are the new cast members coming to Neighbours?

Fans can also expect to see lots of fresh faces when the show returns, as it has already been confirmed there will be a new family on the Street ? the Varga-Murphys ? and a new manager for Harold?s coffee shop in the shape of Haz Devkar.

Former star of The O.C. Mischa Barton will also appear in a guest role as the mysterious Reece Sinclair.

Former Big Brother Australia contestant Xavier Molyneux has also been spotted filming, although he has not been officially announced as being part of the cast yet.

New cast announced for the show so far are:

Sara West as Cara Varga-Murphy
Naomi Rukavina as Remi Varga-Murphy
Marley Williams as Dex Varga-Murphy
Riley Bryant as JJ Varga-Murphy
Shiv Palekar as Haz Devkar
Mischa Barton as Reece Sinclair

What do we know about the storylines for the new Neighbours?

It is believed there will be a time jump from the events of the finale when Neighbours returns ? likely a year, but possibly two, to explain why some faces are no longer on the Street.

It has also been hinted that the new series will feature flashbacks, with April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) posting on Instagram that she was filming on Ramsay Street with confetti on the floor, which you?ll remember rained down on the cast in the closing moments of the show.

There have been claims that Guy Pearce?s second return as Mike Young will feature in flashbacks, as the Hollywood star isn?t believed to be coming back full-time.

Elsewhere, it has been speculated that Mischa Barton?s character has a link to former Erinsborough bad guy Finn Kelly, which could spell trouble for the Kennedys, who had a tortuous time at the hands of the evil teacher.

It has also been teased that someone in the Varga-Murphy family ?has an ulterior motive for being in Erinsborough... And it?ll have explosive ramifications for their neighbours?.

While other details are not yet known, Alan Fletcher, who plays Dr Karl Kennedy, has claimed fans have a lot to look forward to when the show returns.

?The new storylines that they?ve got for these first few weeks of Neighbours are startling,? he told Digital Spy last month. ?I actually got in contact with our story team by email the other night when I read the latest scripts that I?ve received, just to congratulate them.

?They?re some of the most innovative and exciting scripts I?ve ever seen in the show on my 28 years. The fans have got an enormous amount to look forward to.?

Neighbours teases surprise wedding in new season
Who's the mystery bride?

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a44599978/neighbours-surprise-wedding-new-season/

Neighbours is returning to our screens, teasing a big wedding twist ahead for the residents of Ramsay Street.

The Aussie soap has been saved by Amazon Freevee following its shock Channel 5 cancellation last year and is set to air a new batch of episodes starting from this September.

As we're only a few months away, Channel 10 (the network airing the soap in Australia) has appropriately given fans a taste of what they should expect in a new clip promoting their upcoming slate of programmes (jump to the 23-second mark to take a look).

It seems wedding bells will be heard soon in Erinsborough, the fictional Melbourne suburb where the show has been set since its 1985 inception.

Of course, it wouldn't be a soap teaser if we were given any more than a fleeting glance at a woman clad in a wedding dress. The camera only captured the detail of her hand playing with her rose bouquet, but didn't disclose the identity of the mystery bride.

Whether it will be a veteran character or a newcomer to walk down the aisle, it's too soon to say. Though, it would be interesting to see whether Mischa Barton's character Reece could be the one saying "I do."

The clip also included a scene with Jane Harris and Mike Young from last July's finale. While the moment isn't new, fans of the show are guaranteed to get more scenes with the couple as Guy Pearce has been confirmed to return opposite Jane actress Annie Jones.

It isn't clear how long Pearce will be back for. His agreement with Neighbours could obviously impact the storylines and if he is only back for a short time, it could soon be the end of the line for Mike and Jane after their finale reunion.

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours teases "mind-blowing" storyline twists in on-set video
Every day we're getting closer to that revival.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a44624765/neighbours-revival-storyline-twists-teased/

Neighbours actors Stefan Dennis and Rebekah Elmaloglou have teased some of the "mind-blowing" twists that are set to happen in the big revival later this year.

The Australian soap's official Twitter account posted a video featuring the actors, filmed in the spring on their first day back on the set where they attended a meeting with the cast and crew, with a mix of familiar and new faces.

"We're having a big meeting with our executive producer, Jason [Herbison] to find out what is going on," Elmaloglou said.

"This is so exciting because we haven't got a clue," Dennis added, although his co-star teased that she knew a little bit.

https://twitter.com/neighbours/status/1683388624979759107?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5 Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1683388624979759107%7Ctwgr% 5Ec2f21552b91ff84cc668fd8fc9a273073a471316%7Ctwcon %5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.digitalspy.com%2Fsoaps%2 Fneighbours%2Fa44624765%2Fneighbours-revival-storyline-twists-teased%2F

The video then cut to a montage of the meeting, in which we can't hear what anyone is saying, although we do see some tears (is that because everyone is back together, or because of an upcoming storyline?).

Walking out of the meeting, the pair looked gobsmacked, and Dennis teased: "I didn't think that was going to happen."

"Oh my god," Elmaloglou said. "Mind blown."

What we do know about the new episodes, which will be coming to Amazon's Freevee service, is that Guy Pearce's Mike Young will be back for a short stint following the previous finale, a new family is rocking up, and there will be a wedding involving... someone.

Alan Fletcher has also been teasing the storylines, telling Digital Spy in an exclusive interview: "They're some of the most innovative and exciting scripts I've ever seen in the show on my 28 years.

"The fans have got an enormous amount to look forward to."

First Bouncer in Neighbours, now meet new dog Trevor!
Erinsborough is now Erins-bark-ough as Neighbours is introducing a new furry friend to Ramsay Street!

Following in the paw-prints of legendary Neighbours dog Bouncer, Trevor the dog will be joining the cast of the upcoming season.

Neighbours has announced that a dog named Trevor will make his debut in the new series when it returns to Amazon Freevee on Monday, September 18.

A promotional image of the new cast was recently released showcasing the new characters, along with some Ramsay Street favorites coming back to the show. Not only that, but the poster also featured a new furry face taking up residence in Erinsborough!

The Australian soap has since revealed the dog's name as Trevor and the official Neighbours Twitter account posted a photo of him with Haz Devkar (Shiv Palekar), the new manager of Harold's.

Neighbours captioned the sweet snaps: "When good neighbours become good FUR-IENDS Trevor the dog will make his screen debut when Neighbours returns on September 18th."

Trevor will be joining a number of dogs who made their bark in Ramsay Street over the years, including Bouncer the dog who became one of the soap?s most loved and popular pets.

Bouncer was a Labrador who was on the show for six years from 1987 to 1993 and was adored by both the Ramsay Street residents and fans.

He was part of a number of eventful storylines, where he survived road accidents, being lost, a house fire and being poisoned by mushrooms.

One of his most memorable yet bizarre storylines saw him dream about marrying Rosie, the Border Collie that lived next door in 1990.

Before Neighbours was axed, the soap paid a heart-warming tribute to Bouncer after Shane Ramsay (Peter O?Brien) named his new car after the iconic canine.

Bouncer sadly passed away from cancer in 1993 and he received a flood of tributes from around the world after his death.

The cast were highly affected by Bouncer's sad passing with actor Ian Smith, who plays fan-favorite Harold Bishop, telling us that Bouncer's death hurt the most throughout the three decades he has been on Neighbours.

He said: ?This sounds wrong, but the death that hurt me more than all the others was Bouncer. I mean that dear, lovely beautiful dog was wonderful and he got cancer off screen. It really affected us all, something awful.?

Neighbours starts on Monday, September 18 on Amazon Freevee.

Neighbours teases huge new storylines in extended trailer for show return
Drama is on the horizon.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a44813268/neighbours-huge-new-storylines-extended-trailer/

Neighbours has teased several new storylines in the extended trailer ahead of the show?s return.

Amazon Freevee?s reboot of the Australian soap will hit the small screen next month, and fans now have their first lengthy glimpse at the new developments on Ramsay Street.

The 90-second trailer confirms that the new series will be set two years after the events of Channel 5 ?finale?, with Susan Kennedy stating that ?a lot has happened? in the meantime.

Byron Stone, who is now played by Xavier Molyneux, can be seen in his romance with newcomer Reese Sinclair (The OC?s Mischa Barton), but it looks like there could be trouble ahead as he accuses her of ?keeping secrets.?

Reese might not be the only one harbouring secrets, with Mike Young (Guy Pearce) telling Jane Harris that he had been ?keeping something? from her.

Whilst there could be trouble for those two pairs, it looks like love is in the air for one mystery couple, with a lavish wedding being teased at the end of the trailer.

Elsewhere, Sadie Rodwell is spotted snooping around the hotel, newcomer Haz Devkar has a romantic connection with Mackenzie Hargreaves, and it looks like Toadie Rebecchi?s children ? Nell and Hugo ? have been recast.

Whilst fans don?t have to wait long for the reboot to premiere, Stefan Dennis and Rebekah Elmaloglou teased that there would be some ?mind-blowing? storylines on the horizon.

?We're having a big meeting with our executive producer, Jason [Herbison] to find out what is going on,? said Elmaloglou, who plays Terese Willis. ?Oh my god. Mind blown,? she said after the meeting.

Dennis, who made his first appearance as Paul Robinson in 1985, added: ?I didn't think that was going to happen,? with the pair looking gobsmacked at what they?d been told.

Neighbours returns on September 18, with new episodes streaming on Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours producer Jason Herbison teases new season and returning characters
"It's an exciting new world."

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a44938152/neighbours-producer-jason-herbison-new-season/

Neighbours spoilers follow.

The big day is getting closer. Neighbours returns for its new season on September 18, kicking off a fresh chapter of Ramsay Street drama.

Fans can expect an exciting mix of the familiar and the new, as classic characters mix with a batch of fresh faces in Erinsborough.

Long-serving executive producer Jason Herbison recently caught up with Digital Spy and other press to share new teasers of what's in store.

When you wrote the 2022 finale, did you approach it with this potential revival in mind?

"We very much thought it was the end and worked very hard to make it feel fitting, rewarding and satisfying. I always hoped that maybe the show would come back one day, but I certainly didn't think it would happen so quickly. That's all power to the audience, the fans and of course Amazon Freevee, who came along and are bringing back the show.

"So I didn't want to close off the possibility and I wanted doors to be left open, but certainly had not set my mind to what the next chapter could be, because we wouldn't have even known when that would be and who might be involved. It was not in my mind during the finale."

How did the first conversations with Amazon come about?

"It was after the finale and the incredible response that we saw the finale get. Obviously, all those wonderful cast came back and I think everyone was reminded of the great love that is still out there for Neighbours. Then it was November 2022 that everything came together and we made our announcement."

The new season is set two years after the finale. Why did you decide on that time jump?

"That was decided very early on, when we were having talks with Amazon. We knew there was going to be a transmission gap, so life for the audience would have gone on and time would have passed for them too.

"It just felt like a one-off opportunity. In serial dramas, there aren't a lot of things you can do for the first time. Of course, other soaps have done time jumps, but in our case, we were actually going to have been off air as well. We felt that it was a great opportunity ? and two years felt like a really nice timeline."

How and when did you decide which characters you'd bring back?

"It was very, very quick. I was thinking about it in isolation for a little while, but then when we got the green light and sign-off, I went and visited the four heritage cast [Stefan Dennis, Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne and Ryan Moloney]. We talked to them and very quickly got them all on board for an announcement.

"I had a bit of an idea of the other characters that I'd been thinking about, so we very quickly and urgently got on the phones and in a couple of weeks, pulled together the cast that we needed for the return."

Did you approach everyone, or just people you felt you could play exciting character arcs with?

"Well, with the decision to do a time jump, that meant that some people naturally would have moved on. There were people who were unavailable as they had moved on to other projects, so we had decisions to make over whether or not we might want to recast those roles, or whether or not we might move them on from the show.

"But I will say that, just because a character is not back in episode one, it doesn't mean they may not return in the future. Certainly, there's a lot of love from the actors who have been on the show."

How has the collaboration with Amazon been going?

"They've been amazing. From the get-go, we've had nothing but love for the show from them. It's been a collaboration and it's a big deal for them too ? they know that it's a big thing to be bringing Neighbours back.

"I visited their offices in February and just met everyone, and we've had the pleasure of having several of them come out to set as well. They've just been great. They've got a lot of respect for the brand. They know how much the audience misses the show and wants it back."

Are you pitching the revival to the existing audience or to a new one too?

"Well, it is very much that 'perfect blend'. We are wanting everyone that knows and loves the show, everyone that watched that finale, to come back and to see the Neighbours that they know, love, remember and are missing. We want them to feel as though they've got their show back.

"I always said the finale was a hug to the audience ? a goodbye hug ? and I want this to be a 'welcome back' hug. But at the same time, we did want the show to be accessible to a new audience.

"The time jump is helpful there too. Very naturally, with new characters coming into the show, there are natural organic ways to bring a new audience up to date on what might be going on.

"I think if you've watched the show before, then you'll be able to pick it up straight away. If you haven't watched it for a few years, you'll be able to pick it up straight away. But alternatively, if you haven't watched the show at all, you'll also be able to get into it."

With the show now airing on a streaming service, have there been many conversations about how that might change your approach?

"It's an exciting new world. I think there's been so much conversation about streamers and serial dramas. We're leading the way now and it's going to be really exciting to see this launch.

"In terms of how we plot the show and how we structure the show, I don't think it's changed our approach at all. We are still very much making the show that we were making before, but obviously, we want to be making the show better.

"We're always doing that. We're always looking at the production model, looking at our technology, always trying to make it as good as it can possibly be."

Are you planning to revisit any of the storylines you didn't have time for in 2022?

"Well, we always had a lot of ideas on the table. I did notice some of them sneak out, so I'm certainly not doing anything that got revealed.

"We did bring in the Rodwell family just before the show ended, and because the show was ending, we didn't really get the chance to tell as many stories as we'd hoped. So we've got the Rodwell family back. We've also got a new family as well, who are great."

What was the thinking behind the new Varga-Murphy family?

"Well, we're a very progressive show and I really wanted to bring in a same-sex couple with older children. We played out those storylines with Aaron and David and a younger child, but I was really keen to see it in an older, grown-up family with teenage kids.

"Our motto is 'everyone is welcome on Ramsay Street'. I think there is a little bit of us saying, 'This is the future'. A little bit of us staking what we're about on day one. But they're terrific characters, and we've gotten terrific storylines out of them."

Is it important to you that the show is progressive in that way?

"I just think it's contemporary and real life. I never like to think of it as 'an agenda' or anything like that. I think we're reflecting real life. We've all had so much incredible feedback over the years from people who are marginalised or not represented on television. It's so powerful to hear people say how meaningful it is to them to see themselves on television.

"We've also seen a huge change in the last decade. We used to do a lot of focus groups and I remember in the early years ? I've been here for 11 years ? maybe in a group of 10 people, you might have one person going 'I'm not sure about Aaron or David' or 'I don't think they should be on at teatime'.

"Then a couple of years later, you know that one or two people, maybe it was one every now and then. Then the last time we did them, not one. People would say, 'They're just characters we love in the show'.

"That really showed me the power of a show like Neighbours to change, to normalise, to evolve and also ? why wouldn't you want diverse progressive characters because they give you great stories?"

Is there anything else that you can tease about future stories?

"We've got wonderful new characters. I think one of the many beauties of Neighbours is that it has always been multi-generational. With this next chapter of the show, it's starting afresh and it was a great chance as well to just reset that.

"We have our wonderful grandparent figures like Karl and Susan, we have characters like Toadie and then the new family ? the parents with the kids. And then the 20-somethings, who live in a share household, and then the teenagers and then the young children. I think it's a really nice balance of characters."

What can you tell us about Guy Pearce's return as Mike Young?

"We're very excited that Guy Pearce has been back and done some stuff for us too. That's wonderful and I think people will really enjoy seeing Mike and Jane together again.

"It's more than a moment and it's very meaningful. What happens beyond that will play out. But Guy has been wonderful, and he's very engaged as well in the characters and their future happiness."

Can you share any teasers about Mischa Barton's character, Reece?

"Like with the new family, she's a newcomer to town, so she's another great person for a new viewer to see the world through. But in the tradition of many characters, she's a bit of a mystery woman.

"Reece has got a suitcase of secrets! It's an interesting journey. Has she come for something? Is she running away from something? It's a combination of both, so I think she's got some twists and turns.

"Her character herself goes on a journey. She is touched by the lives of everyone here in Erinsborough and then ultimately, down the track finds out much more, that she was never expecting to ever find there."

Would you bring in more US stars if the show takes off in America, where Freevee is also available?

"I think we're open to anything. We are absolutely a show about Australians living in an Australian suburban street. But we do have a lot of Brits, a lot of Americans, a lot of people from many different countries, just like real life. So I think we're very open to it. We've had many British characters over the years pop through on the show."

Who are your sights on?

"Oh, many, many, many! I will say that we have approached some pretty good names who are very open and it's always a question of timing.

"I do want to put one thing out to the universe. I want Hugh Jackman to appear in Neighbours. Hugh famously almost did a two-year run on the show. He tells the story many times and you can see it online where he had the choice between two years on Neighbours or going to WAAPA, which is a very renowned film acting school in Perth.

"To the despair of his family in the UK, he chose WAAPA so I think it's time that he fulfilled his destiny. His wife Deborra-Lee Furness was directing here in 2020 and he was going to pop to set, but then it was the week of COVID and we had to shut."

Neighbours returns on September 18, with new episodes streaming on Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours star Annie Jones breaks silence on Jane and Mike's new scenes
"I think the fans are going to be really happy."

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a44946534/neighbours-spoilers-annie-jones-jane-mike/

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours surprised fans this year with the big news that Hollywood star Guy Pearce had signed up to film new episodes for the revival season, reprising his role as Mike Young once again.

Mike returned to Ramsay Street and reunited with Jane Harris in the show's heartwarming finale episode last year, but the couple's well-received reconciliation ultimately left the writing team with a dilemma when Neighbours was resurrected by Amazon Freevee.

As seen in a recently-released trailer, fans can now expect to see Jane and Mike sharing the screen again in the new season, but the exact outcome for their relationship remains a closely guarded secret.

Annie Jones, who plays Jane, recently caught up with Digital Spy and other press to share some teasers of what's in store.

How did it feel to get back on set and start filming again?

"Just fantastic. It was such a dream come true for all of us. It's like we never left. But then again, there's been quite a refresh. We have a lot of new crew, because a lot of the older crew have either retired or they've just moved on to other shows. We've got a lot of the same characters and actors back, as well as a whole bunch of new ones."

When you were approached to return, did you have to give it much thought?

"No, not really. I was thrilled to hear that the show was coming back ? for myself and for my fellow actors and crew, but also for the fans. I know how much it means to a lot of our fans, especially in the UK. That became blatantly obvious when we were over there doing the Celebration Tour ? just how loved the show is. I'm super excited to be back."

How was it to get that direct interaction with the fans on the Tour?

"Well, they had us crying a lot of the time because we did four hours of meet and greet before each show. We heard first-hand just how much the show had meant to people and how devastated they were when it had finished. We also heard how generational it is. It tended to be grandma, that was the first viewer, and then at least three generations and counting."

When the show returns, how are things going for Jane?

"It's Jane and her ongoing relationship with Mike and Sam. They're all living in Number 24 together, so it's happy, happy Jane. She's got her man and a new step child, so it's all happy families.

"The house is looking a little bit different ? I think the cupboards have had a bit of a change and the furniture is different. It's a more 'country cottage' look that she's gone for. And of course, Mrs. Mangel's painting follows Jane everywhere she goes."

When you heard that Neighbours was returning, did you have a chat with Guy Pearce about how it was all going to work in terms of Jane and Mike's relationship?

"We did have a bit of a chat. We just threw up a couple of ideas and possibilities of what could have happened. Then we shared those with the writers and the producers and came up with a solution."

Guy didn't want to just walk away after his finale return, did he?

"Absolutely. He's such a beautiful person. He wants to do right by Mike ? and by all of the fans that seemed to have loved the Mike and Jane story in the last episode so much.

"I actually had already shot stuff with Guy before we did the Celebration Tour. It was in the UK in a secret location. We filmed for quite a few days."

Will those be the first few episodes back?

"You'll get to see!"

Can you tease how it's going to play out?

"Well, Jane and Mike are together. Mike has fitted into the neighbourhood. He's great friends with Karl ? he and Karl jam together a lot. They've got a bit of a Ramsay Street Band kind of thing going on. So he really loves living there.

"I think the fans are going to be really happy. I think what happens is very satisfying. I think you guys are going to be delighted ? I hope so anyway!"

How do you feel about Xavier Molyneux taking on the role of Jane's son Byron?

"He's great. Apart from being incredibly handsome, he's really switched on and he wants to be good. So that's what you want ? someone who is keen to learn.

"Things were tense between Jane and Byron last time we saw them together because of his escorting, but their relationship is really good and he's living in a share house across the road. So Jane's loving that."

How is Jane and Paul's friendship after the rocky time they've had?

"Jane and Paul's relationship when we come back again is good. Mike's around too so that's a nice buffer and they all get along. Of course, there's always going to be drama!"

What were you up to after the show finished and you didn't know about the revival?

"Well, my husband and I bought an old house in the country. Our plan was to renovate it, grow vegetables and semi-retire a bit. But now I'm back at work, which is really good."

How do you feel about the show airing on a streaming service and being available to watch in more countries?

"It's so exciting! We're going to be on in America, Canada and New Zealand. It's incredible. Hopefully, they enjoy the show as well. That'd be amazing.

"But it's still the same show. We didn't change it to appeal to the UK audience ? they loved us for who we are ? so we're hoping that the Americans feel the same way. It's a little slice of Australia. Maybe it's novel to them, I don't know."

Is there anyone else you'd like to bring back?

"Any of the older characters that were in the show decades ago would be fun. The best thing now is being on Amazon Freevee and having all of those old episodes that are available to watch. We can bring old characters back, because people know who they are ? it's not just a memory thing, you could watch old episodes and then see them in the new ones too. That's an exciting thing that we can do."

Is there's anything else you can tease about what's coming up for Jane?

"Well, Jane is very involved with the school these days. That's her great passion at the moment, apart from her darling Mike. She's really focused on making the school as fantastic as it can be. So there's a few ups and downs with the school, let's say.

"We have New Year's this year ? we celebrate New Year's on screen, so that's exciting. There's lots of good things coming up!"

Neighbours returns on September 18, with new episodes streaming on Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours releases first listen to the show's new theme tune
♫ That's when good neighbours become good friends... ♫

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a44959429/neighbours-new-theme-tune-first-listen/

Neighbours has unveiled its new theme tune for the upcoming series.

The hit Australian soap was recently revived by Amazon Freevee after its previous cancellation ? and with a new era comes a fresh incarnation of the iconic theme.

The show's cast unveiled the latest version, sung by Chris Sebastian, on social media, as various stars of the show listened to the song for the first time in a video clip.

https://twitter.com/neighbours/status/1697021383987835225?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5 Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1697021383987835225%7Ctwgr% 5E5bb84443780447521453e0125ccd0223e3be0b36%7Ctwcon %5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.digitalspy.com%2Fsoaps%2 Fneighbours%2Fa44959429%2Fneighbours-new-theme-tune-first-listen%2F

Of course, the theme has gone through many versions over Neighbours' run, starting with Barry Crocker's, with The Voice Australia 2020 winner Sebastian the latest star to take on the task.

"When I was told the Neighbours team were going to use my voice for the new season theme song, I was shocked and of course over the moon," the singer said (via TV Tonight).

"I have grown up with that soundtrack and I still can't quite believe that this is real. Neighbours, we are all so glad you are back, it hasn't been the same without our friends. I hope you guys love my version of the theme song as much as I loved recording it for you."

It comes after Neighbours legend Jason Donovan recently revealed that he was approached to record the new version of the theme for the revival, though he decided to turn it down.

"They asked me about recording the Neighbours theme for the new version, and I declined, because I felt the moment had happened," he told Scott Mills' BBC Radio 2 show. "I don't know what [the new version] is."

Neighbours returns on September 18, with new episodes streaming on Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Guy Pearce, Annie Jones secretly filmed new Neighbours scenes in February
Scenes filmed in Surrey, UK, ahead of production resuming in Melbourne have been kept under wraps until now.

https://tvtonight.com.au/2023/09/guy-pearce-annie-jones-secretly-filmed-new-neighbours-scenes-in-february.html

EXCLUSIVE:

Filming of Neighbours scenes with Guy Pearce and Annie Jones took place in February in the UK.

Executive producer Jason Herbison told TV Tonight how scenes were shot ahead of production in Melbourne in April and kept secret from media.

?When the news of the show?s return was announced, one of the big questions was, what will happen with Mike and Jane?: he explains.

?Fortunately, Guy was very committed to seeing the storyline through and absolutely wanted to honour their relationship and their romance, and the fact that the show had ended, with Mike and Jane together buying a house. So we came up with a storyline.

?It was the very first time the cameras rolled for the new series of Neighbours and it was actually in the UK, back in February. We shot for a couple of days with with Mike and Annie at a beautiful estate in Surrey.?

Pearce was open to scenes which revisited the Mike & Jane storylines after his appearance in the 2022 finale resonated so well with viewers.

The show?s unexpected revival meant scenes would need to pick up where the two were last seen given the practicalities of Pearce?s other work commitments.

Herbison credits Pearce for being so accommodating.

?He?s incredibly generous and very invested in the characters and their story. As he himself said, it was very emotional for him to return to the show. He?s always spoken fondly of his time on Neighbours. With this unexpected situation, he definitely didn?t hesitate to come in and see the storyline through. I think the viewers understand that Guy?s on the other side of the world and he?s very busy actor. He?s probably not going to be on the ground here week in, week out in Ramsay Street in our next series.

?But I think where we do land with Mike & Jane is a very elegant way to see them again, and honour the characters and also, sort of, set up for the future.

?It was very, very special. We were shooting at this English manor house in Surrey. It was very, very cold but it was just magical. I wrote a storyline which will play out over a number of episodes. It was just very, very special to be there with the two of them and our British crew.?

Mike Young?s screen daughter Sam (Henrietta Graham), also returns to the revived series.

According to Herbison, the secret filming across two days managed to stay under wraps from media for 7 months.

?We?ve shown we can keep some things under wraps. Other things not!? he laughs.

?We were very discreet about it. Guy even had a suggestion of shooting outside of London. I think he very quite rightly thought that we should get away from the crowds. We stayed at a quintessential British hotel out in the countryside and then shot at this amazing old house and property. We were there on our own. It was us and the birds with the odd overhead plane flying by. We kept it very quiet!?

What does it mean for Mike?s character moving forward? Does Herbison rule Pearce in or out in for future episodes?

?We definitely don?t rule out. It may not be the last you see of him, but we?ll have to let that unfold.?

Neighbours returns 4:30pm Monday September 18 on 10 (Sept 25 on Prime Video).

Neighbours star Alan Fletcher to release Susan Kennedy tribute single
He's got a crush on Susie K.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a45012347/neighbours-alan-fletcher-susan-kennedy-tribute-single/

Neighbours star Alan Fletcher is celebrating the soap's return to our screens in the most fun way possible.

The actor, who is also a singer/songwriter, is releasing a musical tribute to his on-screen wife Susan Kennedy, played by Jackie Woodburne.

Fletcher, who has played Dr Karl Kennedy on the soap for 28 years, is releasing the single '(I've Got a) Crush on Susie K' on September 8, just over a week before Neighbours returns on Amazon Freevee.

The single will be released on all streaming platforms. It's also included in Fletcher's album The Lighter Side of Alan Fletcher, available on his online shop.

Announcing the song's release, Fletcher said: "I sang the song every night on the Neighbours Celebration tour and fans loved it! I was overwhelmed with the number of requests to record and release the song."

Meanwhile, Neighbours' return will see the soap revisit a Karl and Susan storyline that was dropped ahead of the show's cancellation by Channel 5.

Early last year, the couple's marriage was tested when Susan found out Karl had gone behind her back to invest in Montana Marcel's doomed business plans.

Speaking earlier this month about the couple's return storyline, Fletcher teased: "They're not actually in a remarkably different place. I mean, having lost $200,000 is not something that Karl's going to get away with lightly! But when we come back, the Kennedys are surrounded by drama ? more so than causing it."

He continued: "[Executive producer] Jason Herbison's brilliance ?and the whole story department's brilliance ? is that they never forget anything. So what they can do is they can bring back things from the past.

"In our case, the fact that Karl lost $200,000 is still not wasted on Susan. That's good because you shouldn't go through those sorts of things and then suddenly everyone goes: 'Oh, let's pretend it didn't happen'. It's huge."

Woodburne also shared: "Susan does start to act out in a way that is completely out of character. By spending an awful lot of money on tat, really! She doesn't know why she's doing it and doesn't really want it.

"But it's because she's still carrying anger about Karl losing that $200,000. It's an interesting story to tell about how we repress stuff. We think everything's okay and we've moved on, but sometimes we haven't. So that's an interesting story."

Neighbours returns on September 18, with new episodes streaming on Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours star Joy Chambers-Grundy dies, aged 76
She played Rosemary Daniels on the soap.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a45178869/neighbours-joy-chambers-grundy-dies-aged-76/

Former Neighbours star Joy Chambers-Grundy has died at the age of 76.

The actor, who played Rosemary Daniels on the Australian soap, passed away yesterday (September 16), with her family confirming the news in a statement.

"Joy has passed away in her sleep early this morning surrounded by loved ones," read the statement (via OK! Magazine).

"Joy will be remembered as a Logie award-winning actress, a best-selling author, a poet, a philanthropist and an exceptional businesswoman who worked alongside her husband to build one of the largest independent production companies in the world," it continued.

The actor appeared as Rosemary in several stints on Neighbours, making her debut in 1986 and her final guest appearance in 2010. Stars of the soap have paid tribute to the late actor, with Stefan Dennis describing her as "exceptional".

"Very sad to hear of darling Joy's death when I woke this morning," wrote Dennis on Instagram. "She was an exceptional woman and very dear to me as a friend and 'Aunt Rosemary' on Neighbours. Bless you Joy and rest in peace with your best friend/husband, Reg. X".

https://www.instagram.com/p/CxSJE08s2Vk/

Dennis recently previewed the upcoming revival of the soap, which will see the star reprise his role as Paul Robinson in Amazon Freevee's reboot.

"There isn't much of a change, which is really good ? it's a really good sign for us. We did want to go back to the same thing," teased Dennis. "It's exactly the same ? we didn't want to see Neighbours go broke because of too much Americanisation or changes full stop."

"They vowed to keep it the old way. We're an Australian show. The reason we're iconic and the reason we're unique to the rest of the world is because we are the quirky Australian show, so don't change it," he added.

Neighbours returns on September 18, with new episodes streaming on Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours - where are all of the missing characters?
And who might return?

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a45245856/neighbours-missing-characters/

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours has now aired four episodes of its new season, reintroducing some much-loved characters and bringing in some new faces too. But what about the characters who are missing?

With the shock wedding twist dominating attention and a two-year time jump to contend with, you may have missed some off-hand explanations over the characters who are no longer living in Erinsborough.

Here's a guide to the 2022 regulars who are currently absent ? and the chances of seeing them back for a shock return.

Melanie Pearson

Melanie appeared in one scene during the season premiere, but the show messed with our minds in episode two by revealing that this was a flashback as Toadie was reflecting on a memory of their time together.

In the 2022 finale episode of Neighbours, Melanie was over the moon after tying the knot with Toadie, but it seems that their marriage turned sour a year later. After a rough patch, Melanie departed Ramsay Street and left a note behind, claiming that she wasn't cut out to be a stepmum to Nell and Hugo.

Lucinda Cowden, who plays Melanie, previously confirmed that she'd be a regular cast member in the new season of Neighbours, so we'll definitely see her back in Erinsborough in future episodes. Phew.

When fans on social media expressed confusion over Melanie's scene this week, Lucinda reiterated her earlier revelations by promising: "It takes a while but she will return."

Nicolette Stone

Nicolette's absence was explained in the season premiere, as her mum Jane became reflective in a chat with Byron. Jane expressed how happy she was to have Byron back in her life, especially as Nicolette had left the Street with Isla.

Charlotte Chimes, who plays Nicolette, previously ruled herself out of the Neighbours revival. However, during a livestream with fans on social media, she let slip details of a return by revealing that producers were recasting Nicolette.

Aaron Brennan and David Tanaka

Aaron and David were referenced in the same conversation between Jane and Byron. Jane indicated that they'd left the Street sometime after Nicolette had.

Jane said: "When Nicolette and Isla moved away, and then Aaron and David too, it was such a loss."

Meanwhile, Paul later revealed that his decision to leave Terese standing at the altar had sparked a rift with David and Aaron.

He mused: "I will always regret the way that I behaved this time last year. And I'm sad that it cost me the support of Aaron and David as well. But I'm not cut out for marriage and it's good to finally be honest about that."

Matt Wilson, who plays Aaron, was recently spotted on a 10 News First report that went behind the scenes at the revival of Neighbours.

Rumours have also been rife over a potential comeback for David, so it seems that we haven't seen the last of him either.

Chloe Brennan

While most residents abandoned plans to leave the Street in last year's finale, Chloe appeared likely to depart for a new life in Sydney with her partner Elly.

The good news is that Chloe and Elly will both be returning to Ramsay Street in a few weeks' time. April Rose Pengilly and Jodi Gordon have already filmed their comeback stints as guests.

Kiri Durant and Glen Donnelly

At the end of last year's season, Glen was at a crossroads after splitting from Terese, while Kiri had agreed to stay in town with her then-girlfriend Nicolette.

Glen and Kiri were both mentioned in the second episode this week, as they'd sent well wishes to Toadie and Terese on their wedding day. The father-daughter duo were revealed to be on Magnetic Island, off the coast of Queensland.

There was no explicit mention of Kiri and Nicolette's relationship, but reading between the lines, it appears that the pair may have broken up.

So far, there have been no indications that Glen and Kiri will be appearing in the new season.

Amy Greenwood and Zara Selwyn

my and Zara were both close to Toadie in the final months of Neighbours, but seemingly left Ramsay Street during the two-year time jump.

Both characters were mentioned in episode three, as they'd sent their own well wishes to Toadie for his wedding to Terese. There was no reference to the outcome of Amy's baby plans ? the main unresolved mystery from last year's finale.

Freya Van Dyke, who played Zara, confirmed earlier this year that she wouldn't be part of the new Neighbours season.

She told her Instagram followers in March: "I know a lot of you have been asking: 'Is Zara coming back to Neighbours? Are you going back to Neighbours?' First of all, thank you so much. It's insane to me that you all are so supportive and you want to see Zara back.

"At this stage, no, Zara is not going back. It's nothing to do with anything beyond what storylines they've decided to go with.

"I am so, so happy for all of the cast who are going back. It's going to be absolutely incredible and there are going to be some incredible storylines. I can't wait for you guys to see it."

Jacinta Stapleton, who played Amy, is not part of the revival cast either and there has been no word over whether we'll see her again.

Levi Canning and Freya Wozniak

Levi and Freya were loved-up in the finale last year after a dramatic few months for their relationship, but as with the other characters on our list, they left Ramsay Street during the time jump.

Fans can expect a small mention of the pair next week, showing that they're still out there somewhere.

Judging by his Instagram, Richie Morris ? who played Levi ? has been travelling this year. He appeared in Channel 5 drama Heat this year, produced by the Neighbours team, so perhaps the bosses will be able to tempt him back in the future.

Phoebe Roberts, who played Freya, showed her support for the soap by attending the big launch of the Neighbours Experience in London this week, but there has been no word on whether we'll see her again.

Clive Gibbons

Clive revealed plans to visit Los Angeles in last year's finale episode, having received a surprise call from his ex-partner Sheila.

Shortly after the finale aired, Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison told Digital Spy: "There was more dialogue in Clive's final scene that we had to cut for time. He explained to Mike and Jane that he was going to see Sheila in LA. Not to reconcile, but to try to understand his previous relationships better.

"Just as Jane had been re-evaluating her past, he was off on a voyage of discovery to do the same thing."

Geoff Paine, who played Clive, is another former cast member who isn't thought to be returning at this stage.

Neighbours planning 40th anniversary
Ramsay Street will turn 40 in March 2025, with producers already beginning to craft storylines.

https://tvtonight.com.au/2024/02/neighbours-planning-40th-anniversary.html

Neighbours producers have begun making plans for the soap?s 40th anniversary.

The series began in March 1985 on the Seven Network where it ran for just four months before its cancellation.

It moved to Network 10, after Seven infamously binned the sets, and debuted in January 1986.

While it was again cancelled in 2022, the show was revived in 2023 by Amazon Freevee and Network 10 for two years.

That means it will still be on air in March 2025 and with the lead time required for writing and production plans are underway to mark another anniversary for Australia?s longest running drama.

Executive Producer is known amongst Neighbours fans for bringing back classic cast, and while those such as Guy Pearce, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan recently returned (the latter has ruled out any future appearances), they will have to wait to see what?s in store in about a year?s time.

DS article. Interview with Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison:

Neighbours boss Jason Herbison shares more 2024 spoilers
What's ahead for the residents of Erinsborough?

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a60960781/neighbours-spoilers-jason-herbison-2024-spoilers/

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Eight months on from Neighbours' big relaunch on Amazon Freevee, it's like the iconic show was never away from our screens.

The popular series has delivered the 'perfect blend' of high drama, romance and soapy silliness this year. Darker plots like David's death and Krista's baby tragedy have been balanced out by Sadie and Byron falling in love, Harold making a heartwarming return ? and of course, the long-running Dr Pooper scandal.

Neighbours has also achieved recognition in the US, scoring nominations in the Daytime Emmy awards for the first time ever.

Delving back into recent highlights and looking ahead to coming weeks, Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison recently caught up with Digital Spy for an exclusive chat.

How has the new season been going from your point of view?

"I'm very happy with how the show is going. It was a huge undertaking to get Neighbours back up and running, both from a creative and a production standpoint.

"We had new characters to introduce and new story arcs to get under way, along with many technical advancements behind the scenes. We work closely with Amazon and all indications are that the new chapter is tracking very well.

"Our recent US Emmy nomination was the delicious icing on the cake and it's wonderful to see some new viewers popping up Stateside. I also love that some of our long running viewers are engaging with the new viewers and helping them to fill in the gaps."

There's now five or six months between filming and transmission, which is longer than it used to be. Has that provided any challenges when it comes to acting on fan feedback?

"The show has always been a mix of what our audience tells us, what our broadcast partners want and what our own instincts are. Audience feedback is the hardest of all because it's so varied. There is no Facebook post or Twitter thread that gives a definitive picture.

"For example, a story or character that might seem negatively received on one forum might be embraced in audience research. We try not to make knee-jerk decisions, so the TX difference hasn't impacted much at all. It's still modest compared to many shows."

How is the collaboration with Amazon working?

"I'm pleased to say we have developed a wonderful working relationship with Amazon. They are very engaged in all aspects of the process. One difference is that we also receive audience research from Amazon, which is very insightful."

Which episodes are you most proud of from the new season so far?

"There have been many episodes that I've loved. I was happy with Flashback Week due to the sheer ambition of it all. There were a lot of moving parts but I love that it was something different, which is hard to pull off on a show that has done just about everything.

"David's death episode was another favourite. Deaths of long running characters are a gift because the audience are so invested. I think we do them well.

"We've actually just filmed a huge week of episodes that count as some of our most ambitious ever. I can't wait for everyone to see them."

The Varga-Murphy and Rodwell family stories have been warmly received by the fans. Can you share any future plans for those two families and will they stay prominent in the coming months?

"I'm so happy that viewers have embraced the new families, although we did meet the Rodwells last season.

"There were a lot of new characters to get used to and it's a testament to the writers and the actors that they settled in so quickly. We wanted to put them at the forefront and we have long story arcs planned for both families."

Speaking of the Varga-Murphys, are their unseen enemies the Linwell brothers still out there somewhere?

"Of course the Linwell brothers are still out there. Don't you know that if a character gets a name in Neighbours, it's a safe bet you will meet them one day!"

The show seems committed to Toadie and Terese as a couple after their wedding twist in the return episode. Do you see them as a long-term match or could the original Terese/Paul and Toadie/Mel pairings still have a chance?

"One of the great challenges of legacy characters is to keep them fresh and surprising. The Toadie and Terese pairing was the ultimate rock in the pond. It gave us a reset on all the characters.

"It's great that many viewers have embraced it but it's equally great that many want the old pairings back. Some viewers would like the characters to go in totally new directions, which is interesting too.

"In the case of everyone, the new pairings have impacted not just their romantic lives but their work lives and their living situations, which continues to give us a lot of great material."

Was introducing the Eirini Rising retirement complex always part of your masterplan when the show returned?

"It was part of the plan. I love older characters and I believe they have a lot to give society. Workplaces in general are incredibly important to serial dramas as they bring so much story. I've tried a few different ones over the years with varying success.

"With Karl, Susan and Terese working at Eirini Rising, I think we have a great playing area and it's certainly been generative so far."

Are there plans for other returns in that space, beyond Harold and Hilary?

"Harold and Hilary will indeed be joined by further faces from the past, but it will happen organically. I didn't want to open the doors and suddenly bring back every older character imaginable.

"I also love that we might revisit some characters who weren't regulars in the past but have aged in the community."

We recently saw a trailer featuring Logan, a possible new love interest for Aaron. Can you tell us a bit more about him?

"Melanie has a chance meeting with Logan during her travels and this becomes the catalyst for him to travel to Erinsborough. There's more to him than meets the eye and he hones in on Aaron, but it's not a conventional romantic storyline.

"Aaron certainly isn't in the market to meet anyone. The story takes some very unexpected turns, which I don't think the audience will see coming."

How will you approach the 'Mike dilemma' moving forwards? Is there a chance we could see Guy Pearce in person again?

"It's a wonderful dilemma to have. We're very grateful to Guy for continuing his association with the show. Anything is possible but of course it depends on his schedule.

"That said, the distance will soon prove difficult for Mike and Jane and they will need to reassess their future."

Which other characters should we be keeping an eye on?

"We have a very big storyline coming up soon that will take us away from Erinsborough and into some unchartered territory. In some ways it's a companion piece to Flashback Week and some of the characters and themes will be revisited, but in a very different way.

"We also have a few events coming up at Lassiters, including one that's a little nod to the past. We are also establishing a new playing area at the hotel, which will be exciting.

"There will also be another two hander episode before the year is out though I can't say with who!"

With the show plotting so far in advance, can you tell us how plans for the 40th anniversary next March are going?

"We always go big with our anniversary milestones and the 40th will be no different. It will be a week-long celebration with huge story arcs playing out in every direction.

"My hope is that our audience will watch it and say ?that's everything we love about Neighbours'."
