The year isn't out just yet but the start of 2023 doesn't sound like it's going to be an easy one for some of the Emmerdale residents. The ITV soap's executive producer has teased an 'explosive time for the Dingle's and a big story for teenager Cathy Hope that 'hasn't been seen in a soap before'.
Starting with the Dingles, it's not exactly been a great time for the family with the heartbreaking deaths of Faith and Liv in October and the recent imprisonment of Cain. The latter has been charged with murder after taking the blame for the shooting of former enemy Al Chapman.
As viewers know, and Amy, Moira, Mackenzie and Matty, it was Cain and Amy's son Kyle who was the real culprit. When Cain had discovered Al's affair with his sister Chas, he lured him to the barn and threatened him with a shotgun. When a scuffle broke out, a terrified Kyle tried to protect his dad and picked up the weapon, pointing it at Al.
As the pair stopped their scrapping and tried to talk Kyle down, Al lunged towards the 10-year-old and as the youngster stumbled back, he let off the gun, leaving Al dead with Cain first to be seen over the body by Al's shocked fiance Kerry Wyatt. He has since been hiding the truth and is locked behind bars.
But this Christmas, Cain's world is set to be rocked once more as his and Chas' long-lost brother, Caleb, arrives looking for answers. Meanwhile, Chas' affair is exposed and she's forced to spend the festive season with her heartbroken husband, Paddy, for the sake of their daughter, Eve.
"I would say the start of 2023 is explosive for the Dingles," Jan Hudson, Emmerdale's executive producer, told the Manchester Evening News and other press. "We've got Cain at the heart of what's happening in our village. We've got Paddy and Chas, we've got Charity and Mackenzie so the Dingles are really kicking off 2023 with a bang. It's all going on for them."
But Emmerdale fans are set to see much more from the soap's younger cast. "You get to an age with the young cast where you suddenly realise they're growing up," Jane told us. "They've been off-screen for a few weeks and they're a foot taller and their voice is deeper and you go, 'Oh my god, we need to start growing them up in the show'.
"For Rosie [Bentham] who plays Gabby, we kept her at 15 for about three years and she eventually came up to me and went, 'You do know my character is 18 now?' and we were like, 'Oh gosh, yeah. We need to grow you up.'"
Jane went on: "So you'll see a really big story for Cathy, Bob's daughter which is really emotionally and topical. It's her first big story really and it's a challenging one. I think it's one that a lot of parents will connect with and it's one I haven't seen a soap do before.
"Noah and Amelia have got their story going on. Amelia has had her baby and Noah is kind of being the surrogate father and Samson is going to be more devious than usual in terms of looking after himself and it will cause big arguments with his father. Then we've got April's story as she navigates her world with her dad [Marlon] as he recovers from his stroke."

Moira remains torn about Caleb?s plan to help her and Amy, as she knows that Cain will never talk to her again if she accepts the offer.
But soon enough, the two women are seen agreeing that the best course of action is for Kyle to admit that he was trying to protect his dad. However, when Cain then discovers that Caleb?s lawyers are being used to help Kyle, he?s left incensed.
Elsewhere, Chas is left chilled when she sees Kyle for the first time since learning of his involvement in Al?s death. But her heart ends up breaking when she listens to his genuine apology. Matty, meanwhile, is frustrated by how upset Amy is getting over the way Kyle is being treated. Finally, when Liam visits Cain in jail and tries to get him to rethink his situation, he finds Cain adamant that he won?t change his mind.

Leyla is one stressed individual. First, there are the pressures of work. Then, there?s her divorce that needs sorting. And finally there?s the fact that she?s discovered what happened between Bernice and Liam on New Year?s Eve.
As an argument breaks out, Leyla tells Liam that she doesn?t want him anywhere near her. And upset and agitated, she ultimately decides to call drug dealer Callum to arrange a purchase.
He, initially at least, thinks that he?s being lured into a trap. But Leyla does eventually buy a stash, only to be then caught with her supply at Tug Ghyll by Jacob, who formulates a plan to deal with the situation.

Where did Kyle get the idea from to take evidence to the police.
I didn't hear Caleb tell him that, he told him to only do what Moira and his mother said.
Edit - Thinking back Caleb did say the police had no evidence, so maybe he took it upon himself to give them some.

Emmerdale has kicked off the year with some huge storylines ? from the fallout of Al Chapman's death, to Paddy Dingle's emotional mental health scenes.
As we look to the future, there's plenty more drama to expect as new faces in the village start to make their mark and the show's biggest secret finally explodes out into the open.
Here's our full guide to the biggest spoilers for the rest of the year, all in one place.
1. Charles' new story
Speaking in January, Emmerdale's executive producer Jane Hudson confirmed that 2023 will be a big year for local vicar Charles.
We've already seen some major changes for Charles over the past year, as he has welcomed his long-lost daughter Naomi into his life and has reunited with old flame Manpreet. But with a full family unit now around Charles, what's next for him?
In a recent YouTube interview, Hudson said: "We've got our Anderson family ? Charles, Ethan, Naomi and of course Manpreet, who's with Charles. They've finally got their own home ? Charles and Manpreet ? which is fantastic.
"There is a lot in store for the Andersons this year. There is a lot going to be happening for Charles in particular, but I'm not going to tell you what that is at the moment. You're going to have to keep watching, because it's happening a bit further in the year."
2. Ethan's new story
Ethan's relationship with Marcus ended abruptly last month after actor Darcy Grey left the show following a one-year stint in the Dales.
When this break-up was first announced in January, Hudson hinted that making Ethan single would lead into another storyline, so it seems that he's one to watch.
Hudson teased: "We are going to see Ethan go through quite a journey with Marcus on screen, which will result in Ethan being young, free and single ? and where will that lead us to?"
3. Nicky's secret revealed?
Home Farm's new nanny Nicky is a character who's currently being watched closely by Emmerdale fans.
The new arrival was brought in as a love interest for Gabby, but viewers suspect there's more to him than meets the eye after some intriguing comments that actor Lewis Cope made when he first landed the role.
Speaking in December, Lewis teased: "At the moment, Nicky is a lovely person and there's nothing to say that he's not. But he's almost too good to be true ? you'll have to wait and see."
Emmerdale has fuelled the speculation by not giving Nicky a surname in the show's closing titles, while other new characters like Marshall do have full names listed. Is this a red herring, or could Nicky have a connection to someone familiar that the show is currently keeping under wraps?
Plus, with a bigger agenda casting a shadow over Home Farm in the coming months, could Nicky play a surprising role in the drama?
4. Gabby's decision over Nicky
Gabby was smitten with Nicky as soon as he turned up at Home Farm for his job interview last year. When Nicky started work, Gabby made it her mission to win him over ? and ultimately succeeded.
However, in a recent appearance on ITV1's Loose Women, Emmerdale boss Hudson hinted that Gabby's priorities could change in the long-run.
She said: "I think we all know it's not just the children that Gabby wants the manny to take care of. Gabby likes to get what she wants, so she is going to get what she wants.
"But does she want it for a long time? [That's] what we want to wait and see."
5. Caleb's secret revealed
Another Emmerdale enigma is Caleb, who was introduced as Cain and Chas' long-lost brother at Christmas.
Caleb has successfully wormed his way in at Home Farm by teaming up with Kim for her new stud farm. This sparked scorn from Cain, but Caleb was quick to confide in him about a hidden agenda to bring down Home Farm and take it all for himself.
Even after that revelation, though, there were tell-tale signs that Caleb still hadn't shared the full story with Cain ? including some mysterious phone calls to a secret contact.
Appearing on This Morning recently, Emmerdale's former scriptwriter Sharon Marshall promised that fans would be pleased when the truth comes out.
She said: "[Caleb] does have a secret. There's something there. Lots of people are guessing. It's a good one."
Meanwhile, Jane Hudson had previously teased: "What's Caleb's involvement with Cain? Does he really want to be Cain's brother or has he got other ulterior motives?
"I think that's a fascinating dynamic to watch ? and whenever we have the big house (Home Farm) and the villagers coming together in a story, it's just not going to end well at all."
6. Mack is finally caught out
Emmerdale's biggest ticking timebomb is the scandalous secret that Mackenzie is the father of Chloe's unborn baby.
Mack recently came close to confessing everything to his fianc?e Charity, and he may well live to regret not biting the bullet and facing the music sooner.
Emmerdale bosses have confirmed that this storyline will come to a head around the time of Mack and Charity's wedding, which has been booked for April 20.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other press in December, executive producer Jane Hudson teased: "We know that Mackenzie is the father of Chloe's baby and again, that's another secret in the village that's probably not going to be kept secret for long.
"We have got Charity and Mackenzie's wedding on the cards. I think we all know weddings don't always go very smoothly and Chloe's baby will be due around the time of the wedding, so you can put the pieces together yourselves and figure out what might happen somewhere around the wedding date and the birth date.
"It will be explosive for Charity and Mackenzie."
The show has promised a year-long fallout once the truth has been exposed.
In a YouTube video at the end of January, Hudson added: "We are a soap ? it's not a question of 'will Charity find out that Mack's the baby daddy?' It's 'when will she find out?'
"And she is going to find out and it's going to be explosive. There will be massive repercussions for all those characters, which will carry us right into 2024."
7. Paddy's journey
Paddy has taken centre stage in emotional scenes recently, as he planned to take his own life.
The vet's friends reached a breakthrough last week when they managed to get him to open up about his inner turmoil, which left them all hopeful for Paddy's future.
Emmerdale will continue to explore Paddy's storyline in the coming weeks and months, aware of the importance of covering the topic over a long period.
In a recent interview, Dominic Brunt ? who plays Paddy ? told us: "[Paddy has] opened the door to it now ? he's capable of having those thoughts. He's capable of attempting to take his own life and he's going to have to watch that now for the rest of his life.
"Thankfully, the story isn't dropped. There'll be hints, hopefully forever, that he's capable of that.
"But there's also quite a lot of light ? it's not a misery-fest. It's not this dark story that's awful to watch. It's really well-coloured-in with the pace. Even a couple of weeks later, there's little pinches of light where Paddy has found his humour again, but he has to watch himself.
"The story also normalises talking. If Paddy has another slump, he turns to someone and says: 'Are we alright to just go and have a cup of tea? I just want to talk about something that's bothering me'. I'm really glad that it's doing that."
Mark Charnock, who plays Paddy's best friend Marlon, added: "As I've said many times before, soaps have that unique position in drama where they can explore a story over a longer period. For me, it's the perfect format to take on a story like this.
"Marlon will go on supporting Paddy for quite a while. They've always supported each other and they've always been like brothers. Paddy's been there for Marlon with his problems over the past few years, so it's nice that Marlon can now take the reins for him. I think it's a terrific story and it's very moving."
8. Paddy and Mandy's long-term future
In a recent interview, Emmerdale star Lisa Riley hinted that it may be a long wait before we see her character Mandy reunite with Paddy.
The former couple slept together last month, but the focus of the story understandably changed when Paddy's mental health crisis became clear.
Despite this, Lisa has refused to rule out a reconciliation for the pair in the long-term.
Hinting at a bigger plan in play, Lisa told ITV1's Lorraine last month: "You know when you look in the window and there's a massive cheesecake? We're just going to give you a slither of cheesecake. You don't want the cheesecake all at once, do you? Maybe on Christmas Day you might need it but we're only in February!
"Me and Dom love working together and it comes across. You can tell that the camaraderie comes across on screen as the characters as well. The writers then see that and they write more of it, so who knows?"
9. A big summer storyline
While catching up with Digital Spy and other press at the end of last year, executive producer Jane Hudson shared her ambition to tell a huge summer storyline.
Hinting at a possible stunt, Hudson teased: "I'm storylining June at the minute so my head is there.
"I couldn't tell you anything anyway, but we are busy working on summer storylines at the moment as I always like to have a little bit of a summer spectacular. So if I say that I have to come up with something now!"
10. A mystery return
In the same interview, Hudson also dropped a hint that Emmerdale could bring back a face from the past this summer.
Asked about any returns, she replied: "Ooh! I can't tell you! I can't say! We're working on June storylines at the minute and I thought [about a return] and thought: 'Viewers would love that!'"
This mysterious character's return has not yet been confirmed, but is something the show was clearly considering at the time, so watch this space.

Thomas King is set to return to 'Emmerdale' after 10 years.
The primetime ITV soap is preparing for one of its most explosive storylines yet which will see villain Thomas King - the son of killer Carl King -make a shocking comeback a decade after leaving the show.
As reported by The Sun newspaper, Thomas- who was last played by Mark Flanagan - will be heading back to Emmerdale to reunite with his uncle Jimmy.
Last time, Thomas was seen terrorising the locals following his dad?s death and causing havoc for Belle and Chas Dingle after he stalked Chas for her part in his father?s death.
A source said: "Tom?s return is going to be explosive. He shocks his uncle Jimmy when he returns to the village and it?s not clear why he?s back.
"Fans will be glued to their screens watching Tom?s comeback unfold ? and his presence could cause chaos.
Jane Hudson also teased a new love interest for Belle which could see her back in the arms of evil Tom after seducing Belle and convincing her to runaway with him before he fled.
"It will be brilliant because it always is."
Emmerdale's executive producer has hinted that we're in for another unmissable week of episodes filled with dramatic stunts later this year.
The soap usually goes big in October, airing a big week of episodes featuring big stunts and characters in serious jeopardy.
Last October, Emmerdale aired a special series of episodes to celebrate its 50th anniversary. In the episodes, a deadly storm hit the village, leading to the deaths of Harriet and Liv.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at an Emmerdale press event on Tuesday (April 18), the soap's executive producer Jane Hudson teased that there's more big drama to come this year.
When asked about what's in store this autumn, Hudson said: "I was working on it late last night with my producer ? we started getting a bit giddy with ideas and started messaging each other.
"Then I woke up at 3am having had a dream that somebody was trying to break my neck, and I actually jumped up in bed!"
She added: "I keep a pad next to my bed and a pen, and I thought: 'I've got to write down some ideas.' Nobody's getting their neck broken, but I was just in that world of stories. So at 3am, I was scribbling."
As for whether we can expect stunts, Hudson said: "Super Soap Week traditionally has a stunt in it, but we are still at the very early stages. We're in my 'dream head' state at the moment.
"But it will be brilliant because it always is."
eanwhile, Hudson also recently confirmed that a popular character will make their return to the village later this year.
The mystery character will return as the soap celebrates another wedding over the summer.
"You all know we love a summer wedding," Hudson teased. "[We have Charity and Mack's wedding this week], but I can tell you there is another wedding ? at least one ? coming up before we get to the end of summer. I won't tell you who.
"And we'll be having a familiar face returning before the end of summer. I think the audience will be absolutely delighted when this familiar face makes a return to the show."

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/a44485645/emmerdale-spoilers-dawn-billy-christmas/
Emmerdale offers the first hints of a possible Christmas storyline in Monday's episode (July 10).
The latest visit to the Dales sees happy couple Dawn and Billy Fletcher take centre stage following the revelation that they're expecting a baby together.
Dawn heads to the hospital for a scan, with Billy joining her for the heartwarming moment.
The pair are taken aback when the sonographer confirms that Dawn is 16 weeks pregnant, which is much further along than she'd thought.
This timing follows the tradition of new arrivals in Soapland over the festive period, with the due date meaning that Dawn and Billy can expect to meet their baby in time for Christmas.
Dawn and Billy are emotional as they gaze at their baby on the screen for the first time.
Olivia Bromley, who plays Dawn, recently told Digital Spy and other press: "Dawn is just really happy over the pregnancy, because obviously this represents to her so much in terms of the growth from where she's come from.
"It's the fact Dawn has got this stable family unit now, with the person that she loves that she's going to have a baby with. It's such different circumstances to when she had her first child, which were really unhappy.
"Back then, she was in a really scary relationship where she obviously had drug problems and didn't have stability, so this is just like a completely different situation. I think she's really, really happy about it."
Asked how she felt about taking on the storyline, Olivia replied: "I was quite enthusiastic, to be honest. I think it's a really nice change of dynamic for Dawn and for the two of them.
"As an actor, it's going to be quite interesting because I haven't had a baby so that's going to be quite a challenge really, to do all the things that are involved.
"I think it will be a meaty storyline. I think there are a lot of twists and turns. I think it will be good for us as actors to play that dynamic."
no doubt jamie or alex will return to cause trouble for billy and dawn or meena might escape

Emmerdale has confirmed plans to air darker storylines in this year's Christmas episodes.
The festive season won't be a time of celebration for some of the villagers, with show bosses aiming to provide a different tone compared with recent years.
Emmerdale's producer Laura Shaw teased the plans while speaking to Digital Spy and other media at a press event for the show this week.
Shaw commented: "Heading up to Christmas, we've got some exciting plans but I have absolutely, definitely been sworn to secrecy on this one!
"What I can tell you is that, in the last couple of years, we've done a light, fluffier Christmas for Emmerdale, but this one is quite different in tone.
"A lot of it is edgier for us for Christmas. I can tell you that definitely not every one of our villagers will be sat down eating their turkey with all the trimmings on Christmas Day."
Shaw also spoke about early storyline plans for 2024, which will also feature some challenging times for the villagers.
She said: "Heading into the new year, we're going to be introducing more exciting new characters ? they'll all be revealed nearer the time.
"We'll be seeing a well-known face returning. We've got tragedy striking one family in the new year.
"We've got one or two of our villagers getting into very serious trouble, at least one of which may end up with them being sent to prison, but we'll see!"
Ash Palmisciano, who plays Matty Barton, previously told Digital Spy that a wider variety of characters will take centre stage at Christmas this year.
Speaking exclusively to us at the Inside Soap Awards, Ash teased: "We're just starting the December episodes, we're filming them today.
"I think what's really cool is it involves, this year, a lot of the cast at Christmas.
"I don't want to sound boring, I don't want to give it away and spoil it for everyone! But there's going to be a lot going on with some major characters.
"The favourites that our fans love are going to be very busy at Christmas."
zak dying, lydia pregnant, tracey caleb affair?
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw has shared more details of which characters will be taking centre stage at Christmas.
Charity Dingle, Mackenzie Boyd and Chloe Harris have all been name-checked as their ongoing triangle continues.

Emmerdale has revealed that it is bringing famed ice dancers Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean to the village for a special Christmas episode at the end of the year.
Filming has already taken place at an undisclosed location in Leeds, with the Olympic champion figure skaters and Dancing on Ice stars making a special appearance in the Dales in order to help an Emmerdale character with a festive marriage proposal.
It hasn't yet been confirmed which characters are involved in the special romantic gesture, but it has been said that the character seeking their help is "well loved".
Dean said of his experience filming on the soap: "It is amazing being here. We have jumped from watching Emmerdale on TV to being in a scene. From the screen to the scene. I'm loving it."
His skating partner Torvill also shared her excitement about their role, saying: "I can't wait to watch the episode that we are going to be in. It will be surreal sitting at home watching it."
Emmerdale producer, Laura Shaw, commented: "We are delighted to welcome Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as our very special guests to Emmerdale. Torvill and Dean certainly promise to bring the Christmas magic sparkle to the show."
Following their special Christmas appearance on Emmerdale, Torvill and Dean will be seen in the upcoming 2024 series of Dancing on Ice as they return to their roles as judges.
The pair will be reuniting with an Emmerdale star for the new series, as Leyla Harding actress Roxy Shahidi is one of the celebrities taking part in the 2024 run.
Joining her from the world of soap are former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, Brookside and Corrie star Claire Sweeney and ex-EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood.
Among the other famous faces who will be donning their skates in the hopes of impressing the judges are S Club singer Hannah Spearritt, Taskmaster star Lou Sanders and Love Island's Amber Davies.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/a45803568/emmerdale-spoilers-christmas-2023/
Emmerdale has been teasing its Christmas storylines for a few weeks now, but with the slow drip-feed of information, it's easy to miss a spoiler or two.
Fans can expect a dramatic episode on Christmas Day, providing a contrast to the cosier Yuletide storylines that we've seen on the show in recent years.
So, what's ahead in this year's festive specials? Here's our one-stop guide to everything that the show has announced so far.
A darker Christmas
Emmerdale tends not to save its major storyline peaks for Christmas Day ? that's what Super Soap Week is for, after all ? so the past couple of years has seen plenty of joy and celebration in the festive episodes.
In a recent Emmerdale press event, show producer Laura Shaw confirmed that the soap will take a different approach this year.
Emmerdale's love triangle twists just keep on coming in the fallout from the recent Super Soap Week crash, which saw Mack forced to choose who to save when Charity and Chloe were hanging perilously on the edge of a cliff.
Next week's episodes see Mack decide to end things with Chloe, but he's thwarted when her health becomes a cause for concern again.
Although few details have been revealed at this stage, show bosses have confirmed that the Charity/Mack/Chloe dramas will still be playing out at Christmas.
Producer Laura Shaw told Inside Soap: "There's more to come for Charity, Mack and Chloe.
"The repercussions from Super Soap Week will play through Christmas and into New Year."
Back in July, Dawn and Billy discovered that they're expecting a baby together.
The couple later learned that Dawn was further along with her pregnancy than originally thought. A scan at the hospital revealed that Dawn was 16 weeks pregnant at the time and that their new arrival would make an appearance in time for Christmas.
Speaking at a recent press event, producer Laura Shaw laughed: "We all love a soap baby!
"We know that Dawn and Billy are pregnant and excitedly waiting for their baby, which is conveniently due around Christmas, as soap babies always are! It's always either Christmas or Super Soap Week."
A festive proposal ? with special guests
Emmerdale filmed some special Christmas scenes on location this week, featuring VIP guests Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Show bosses confirmed that the ice dancing legends would be appearing as themselves in one of the festive episodes, helping "a well-loved Emmerdale character" with a marriage proposal.
Christopher Dean commented: "It is amazing being here. We have jumped from watching Emmerdale on TV to being in a scene. From the screen to the scene. I'm loving it."
Jayne Torvill added: "I can't wait to watch the episode that we are going to be in. It will be surreal sitting at home watching it."
No information has been revealed over which Emmerdale character will be popping the question, but a picture from the day showed that Dominic Brunt (Paddy Dingle), Eden Taylor-Draper (Belle Dingle), James Chase (Tom King), Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle), Roxy Shahidi (Leyla Cavanagh) and Joe-Warren Plant (Jacob Gallagher) were all on location when the scenes were filmed.
Paddy was at rock bottom in last year's Christmas episodes, facing bitter tensions with Chas after their marriage break-up.
The village vet can expect a happier festive season now that he has reunited with his ex-wife Mandy.
Producer Laura Shaw recently told Inside Soap: "We want to see [Paddy] settle down again now, try to be happy again and move on.
"Christmas is coming up, and how is that going to work with this blended family that we have with Paddy, Mandy and their kids Vinny and Eve? We'll see some happiness for them."
Rhona's life changes forever next week when she discovers the truth about her ex-husband Gus fraudulently using their frozen embryos to start a family with his new wife Lucy.
Speaking about where the story goes in the longer-term, Zoe Henry ? who plays Rhona ? recently told us: "[Rhona and Marlon have] got a very busy Christmas coming up with a few unexpected guests. I'm sure that's not too cryptic!
"I think there's a long road ahead. Nothing is straightforward or linear. It should make for great viewing, I really think so."
A big mix of characters
Ash Palmisciano, who plays Matty Barton, spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about Emmerdale's Christmas episodes during a red carpet chat at the Inside Soap Awards in September.
Ash told us: "We're just starting the December episodes, we're filming them today.
"I think what's really cool is it involves, this year, a lot of the cast at Christmas."
He added: "I don't want to sound boring, I don't want to give it away and spoil it for everyone! But there's going to be a lot going on with some major characters.
"The favourites that our fans love are going to be very busy at Christmas."
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/a45897589/emmerdale-spoilers-caleb-tracy-caught-christmas/
Emmerdale has revealed that Caleb Miligan and Tracy Robinson will face a dramatic Christmas as their big secret comes under threat.
Caleb and Tracy have managed to keep their romantic chemistry under wraps in recent weeks, but there's trouble ahead when someone rumbles them on Christmas Day.
Show producer Laura Shaw teased the tense scenes in a chat with Digital Spy and other media at an Emmerdale press event this week.
Shaw explained: "We've started Tracy and Caleb's dangerous affair. We'll see a bit more of that in the run-up to Christmas.
"What we'll see is the most awkward Christmas dinner ever, where those lot are all sat round the table at the Dingles' together.
"Somebody on Christmas Day is going to find out their dark secret and threaten to blow that."
For now, Emmerdale's team are keeping tight-lipped about who uncovers the secret and whether they'll share the news with the rest of the village.
Caleb and Tracy's chemistry was first revealed in flashback scenes earlier this month.
Amid the suspicion over which of the Dingles were involved in Craig Reed's death, Caleb and Tracy were seen sharing a passionate kiss.
Tracy subsequently felt guilty for cheating on her husband Nate and tried to keep her distance from Caleb, but fans can expect her to be drawn back to Caleb in the coming weeks as we head towards the festive season.
Further details of this storyline and more of Emmerdale's festive plots will be shared in the next few weeks.

Emmerdale has confirmed plans to explore the relationship between Chloe Harris and her father this Christmas.
Chloe's dad will be playing a role in the next chapter of her long-running storyline with Mackenzie Boyd and Charity Dingle.
Show producer Laura Shaw shared the news with Digital Spy and other media at an Emmerdale press event this week.
Shaw explained: "The Charity/Mackenzie/Chloe love triangle has been bubbling away for 18 months or so now. At Christmas, we'll see that reach a bit more of a crescendo, where Mackenzie pushes Chloe to her absolute limit.
"What we'll see is Chloe reach out to her father for help. Obviously we know from previous stories that Chloe's dad is not someone to be messed about with ? he's quite a dark character.
"We know that he was quite controlling with Chloe and that people are afraid of him. So obviously, when she reaches out to him, what we will see is him helping Chloe in his own unique way."
Shaw hinted that the involvement of Chloe's father will be bad news for Mackenzie after his recent poor behaviour.
She teased: "Is Mackenzie going to be able to talk his way out of this one? I'm not sure ? we'll have to wait and see.
"But I think it's pretty sure to say the repercussions of that are going to be long-lasting into the New Year and beyond."
When Emmerdale introduced Chloe to the show in 2021, it was strongly hinted that her father was a dangerous villain.
Chloe's dad was serving a prison sentence at the time, but he had cameras installed in their family home and had cronies watching over her.

I wish! This is just the beginning of a life of hell for Mack ... hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...

chloe should just move on, instead of wanting revenge, she knew deep down he loves charity

Yes, I am sure a lot of folk in her situation would do that but then there would be no drama and that is needed in soapland .. also, Mack would not like Reuben being far away.

Emmerdale has confirmed the Christmas storyline for Rhona Goskirk and Marlon Dingle, with producer Laura Shaw teasing that the former will be pushed to "breaking point".
Recently, Rhona discovered that ex-husband Gus Malcolm had secretly used her frozen embryos to help his wife Lucy.
Tragedy struck, however, with Lucy sadly passing away after giving birth to a daughter, and now Shaw has set out what's next for the characters during the festive season in an interview with Digital Spy and other media.
"We've seen Rhona having a really tricky time recently ? we've recently seen on screen [that] Lucy died just after the birth of baby Ivy," she said. "What we'll see going forward is Gus starting to struggle a little bit with his grief and being a single parent to little Ivy.
"That's going to hugely impact Rhona and Marlon's Christmas ? how is Marlon going to cope if Rhona wants to reach out and help baby Ivy? Will Gus let Rhona help with Ivy? And what are the repercussions going to be on Leo and April? We'll see all that over Christmas.
"In the new year, we'll see Rhona pushed to breaking point ? she's forced to make a risky decision that threatens to affect her whole family and possibly change the dynamics of their family.
"As she's pushed to the extreme can she be talked round, or is she going to lose everything in the quest to help baby Ivy??
Elsewhere on the soap, there has been some recent casting news as former Coronation Street star Paula Lane joined the Dales as Ella Forster.
Paula, who played Kylie Platt on Corrie, will begin filming her new role later this month, with her screen debut coming in the new year.

Coronation Street and Emmerdale will have less screen time than usual on Christmas Day this year.
Newly-released schedules for the festive season have confirmed that both ITV soaps will only air for 30 minutes each on Monday, December 25.
The usual tradition is to broadcast hour-long specials of each show on Christmas Day, but ITV has taken a different approach this year.
Corrie will air for 30 minutes from 7pm on ITV1 on Christmas Day.
Emmerdale will screen in an earlier slot at 6.30pm, also for 30 minutes.
Coronation Street's episode will be its shortest Christmas edition since 1997, which was the last time the show had a 30-minute slot on the day.
Meanwhile, Emmerdale last had a 30-minute Christmas slot in 2004.
Fans needn't worry too much about missing out, as Corrie will still have three-and-a-half hours' worth of screen time from Monday, December 25 to Sunday, December 31.
This is partly because Corrie will be screening episodes on days that it doesn't usually air in a regular week ? Tuesday, December 26 (Boxing Day) and Sunday, December 31 (New Year's Eve).
Emmerdale also has three-and-a-half hours' worth of content screening between Monday, December 25 and Sunday, December 31 ? including hour-long specials on December 27 and 28.
Coronation Street's producer Iain MacLeod recently tipped the show's Boxing Day episode as one to watch out for, as it features Chris Gascoyne's departure from the role of Peter Barlow.
MacLeod said: "It all builds up to this incredibly surprising Boxing Day episode. There's a huge two-hander between [Peter and Carla] ? more or less they are the only two cast in the episode.
"It's a greatest hits compilation for those of you that have been big fans of Peter and Carla since the start. It picks over every single detail of who they are, what they've been as a couple, what they want for their future and what happiness looks like for them.
"It's building towards an exit for Peter, which is really brilliant and bittersweet and feels like Corrie at its very best."
Meanwhile, Emmerdale's producer Laura Shaw commented: "Heading up to Christmas, we've got some exciting plans but I have absolutely, definitely been sworn to secrecy on this one!

Charity, Mack and Chloe take centre stage - as Chloe's dad arrives
Emmerdale's love triangle twists just keep on coming in the fallout from the recent Super Soap Week crash, Mack dumping Chloe, and Chloe fleeing from the village in a revenge plan.
Show bosses have confirmed that the Charity/Mack/Chloe dramas will still be playing out at Christmas.
Producer Laura Shaw told Inside Soap: "There's more to come for Charity, Mack and Chloe. The repercussions from Super Soap Week will play through Christmas and into New Year."
Speaking more recently, Shaw confirmed that this will involve Chloe's mysterious dad making an appearance.
Shaw said: "The Charity/Mackenzie/Chloe love triangle has been bubbling away for 18 months or so now.
Dawn and Billy's baby joy
Emmerdale filmed some special Christmas scenes on location in November, featuring VIP guests Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Initially, no information was revealed over which Emmerdale character will be popping the question, but a picture from the day showed that Dominic Brunt (Paddy Dingle), Eden Taylor-Draper (Belle Dingle), James Chase (Tom King), Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle), Roxy Shahidi (Leyla Cavanagh) and Joe-Warren Plant (Jacob Gallagher) were all on location when the scenes were filmed.
A subsequent spoiler confirmed a proposal and wedding for Belle and Tom, which seemed to solve the mystery.
Caleb and Tracy caught out
Caleb and Tracy continue their secret fling at Christmas, but they take a risk too far when someone catches them together.
Emmerdale's producer Laura Shaw teased: "We've started Tracy and Caleb's dangerous affair. We'll see a bit more of that in the run-up to Christmas.
"What we'll see is the most awkward Christmas dinner ever, where those lot are all sat round the table at the Dingles' together.
"Somebody on Christmas Day is going to find out their dark secret and threaten to blow that."
A happy Christmas for Paddy
Paddy was at rock bottom in last year's Christmas episodes, facing bitter tensions with Chas after their marriage break-up.
The village vet can expect a happier festive season now that he has reunited with his ex-wife Mandy.
Producer Laura Shaw recently told Inside Soap: "We want to see [Paddy] settle down again now, try to be happy again and move on.
"Christmas is coming up, and how is that going to work with this blended family that we have with Paddy, Mandy and their kids Vinny and Eve? We'll see some happiness for them."
Unexpected guests for Rhona
Rhona's life has changed forever following her discovery about her ex-husband Gus fraudulently using their frozen embryos to start a family with his new wife Lucy, who has since died.
In a subsequent press event, Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw elaborated further: "We've seen Rhona having a really tricky time recently ? we've recently seen on screen [that] Lucy died just after the birth of baby Ivy. What we'll see going forward is Gus starting to struggle a little bit with his grief and being a single parent to little Ivy.
