I thought she was hiding something when she got that text, I think she went out with Minty for a dare by that friend. I think that the friend meant 'how are things going with Minty' by the word gossip.

It must have been considering the way she dumped him.

He might of sensed that she dumped Minty and not the other way around but he definatley wouldn't want Garry finding out what Emma said, and if he had said that Emma dumped him Garry would be sniffing around for the reason.
