when did you first get milk in your breasts? was it straight after having your baby or months before? weird question but just wondering!

Well, I think I am abnormal as I already have some colostrum, have done for a bit now!! Milk never dried up completely after having Ciaran!! Generally though, I think you can get leakage from 5 months approx and milk itself comes in about 7-10 days after birth, the first 7-10 being colostrum.....

I only managed 10 days with my other too - flat, engorged, naturally trying to suffocate them etc  so maybe I should just not at all this time round and get the docs to give me the medicine that dries you up, or just persevere (sp?) more and make sure they give me the help that I will need :searchme:

there is a great book called bestfeeding that has loads of help in it - there is a great tip where you roll a flannel (face cloth) up and pop it below your breat to get a better shape.....will get you more info about the book if you like

I had supply issues and was miserable feeding my son - it was sore and I hated it (carried on as there are health issues in the family that I felt I needed to feed to help with) BUT after reading this book I fed my daughter for a year - never had a cracked nipple or any pain!!

that would be great - i ended up cracked, bleeding, unable to position either of them properly and no one advised me about problem solving with flat nipples - its only now that I have realised thats what the problem is 12 yrs after having my eldest - how wrong is that!!
