Four new faces are joining the cast of Home And Away.

The popular TV soap has added some fresh faces to the storyline by way of a fictional band known as Lyrik, fronted by actor Rob Mallett as Bob.

There?s also Stephanie Panozzo as Eden, Adam Rowland as Remi and Angelina Thomson as Kirby.

?Home And Away is a cornerstone of the Aussie television landscape, so it?s a bucket list show to work on,? Mallett told Confidential.

?I?ve had an absolute ball trying to win the hearts and minds of Summer Bay. Now it?s time to do the same to the rest of Australia. The whole team there are a pleasure to work with and experts at what they do. It?s no wonder the show still has as much support as it does.?

Lyrik will make their on-screen debut on Monday, several months after they shot their first scenes. It comes after the recent departures of actors including Sam Frost, Harley Bonner, Lucas Radovic and Courtney Miller.

Generally the show hires actors for contracts ranging from a few months to three years with some, like Lynne McGranger, having notched up decades on Home And Away.

?I had just started my shift at a pub and was pouring pints when my phone rang with the news,? Rowland, originally from Melbourne, said of landing the job.

?Needless to say I needed a pint or two myself after that phone call. I was excited and slightly daunted by the fact that my life was about to change. I grabbed my guitar, packed a suitcase and was calling Sydney home three days later. What a ride.?

Panozzo meanwhile auditioned over Zoom as she couldn?t travel from Melbourne as she had just tested positive to Covid.

?I thought I had lost out on the opportunity of the role because I wasn?t going to be able to be in the room. I was devastated,? she said.

?I did the recall over zoom and thought that was that. A few days later I was watching TV feeling sorry for myself, recovering from Covid, and my agents FaceTimed me, which they never do, and they said I booked the role. I was absolutely blown away and beyond excited. It was a very surreal and incredible feeling.? "

With a slew of Home and Away favourites departing Summer Bay this year, it's made way for four brand new new cast members to join the show.

The latest characters will arrive in Summer Bay as part of a fictional band called Lyrik.

Rob Mallet will star as Bob, Angelina Thomson as Kirby, Adam Rowland as Remi and Stephanie Panozzo will play Eden.

Home and Away isn't Rob's first foray into performing. He previously appeared on House Husbands, Winners and Losers and in the stage production of The Rocky Horror Show.

Rob said landing a role on Home and Away was on his bucket list.

"The whole team there are a pleasure to work with and experts at what they do. It's no wonder the show still has as much support as it does," he told The Daily Telegraph.

Adam said he was working a bar job at a local pub when he received the news he was cast on the show.

"I was pouring pints when my phone rang with the news. Needless to say I needed a pint or two myself after that phone call. I was excited and slightly daunted baby the fact that my life was about to change," he told the publication.

Rob's new co-star Stephanie is also no stranger to Aussie TV. She appeared in My Life is Murder and Hyde & Seek alongside Deborah-Lee Furness and Zoe Ventoura.

But Stephanie's Home and Away gig didn't come without its struggles. The WAAPA graduate admitted she was "devastated" that she couldn't audition in person for her role after contracting COVID.

She instead tried out over a nerve-wracking Zoom call with a panel of casting producers.

"My agents FaceTimed me, which they never do, and they said I booked the role. I was absolutely blown away and beyond excited. It was a very surreal and incredible feeling," she said.

The fictional band Lyrik will be make their Summer Bay debut on July 4. It comes after Sam Frost, Harley Bonner, Lukas Radovich and Courtney Miller exited the show earlier this year.

It's a good old-fashioned street party in Summer Bay this week when Felicity's friends drop by for an impromptu visit.

Returning from a meeting with her solicitor, Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) announces to boyfriend Tane (Ethan Browne) that she is formally the new co-owner of Salt!

The couple's celebration is cut short, however by a concert outside their door. Tane is stunned, but Felicity greets the four-piece band called Lyrik happily ? they're old friends!

Making themselves at home, Tane makes a hasty exit while Felicity catches up.

Bass player Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) and guitarist Remi (Adam Rowland) explain that the band has been on the road for more than a year, but it's been tough. Friendships are strained and everyone is burnt out.

Then, there's keyboardist and songwriter Kirby (Angelina Thomson) whose relationship with Bob (Rob Mallett), the arrogant lead singer ? is on bumpy ground.

"The band's relationship is turbulent and Kirby is caught between a rock and a hard place" Angelina tells TV WEEK.

Sensing the tension, Felicity suggests they play at Salt's re-launch party! The bandmates agree to the gig, but what will Salt co-owner Mackenzie (Emily Weir) say?

Unfortunately, Felicity's wild idea is met with backlash from Mac. They have no money to pay the band and it doesn't suit their clientele.

After some convincing, Felicity wins the argument. Mac issues a warning: if the band night fails, it's on her.

The re-launch finally party arrives and everyone is nervous. The customers roll in, but Lyrik are nowhere to be seen. Felicity is furious. Where are they?

Just as she concedes the night a failure, the lights dim and the music blares through the speakers. Lyrik jump out on stage and wow the crowd ? but one person isn't impressed: Cash.

It's clear he has a history with the band as he turns to walk away. Instead, he comes face-to-face with Eden. She smiles wide and jumps into his arms. Cash (Nicholas Cartwright), looks like he's seen a ghost.

Welcome to Summer Bay! How does it feel to be part of the show?

It feels like a dream come true. To be able to do what I love everyday feels like such a blessing - and on such an icon Australian show too! I grew up watching the show and loved it! My sister and I would watch The Simpsons at 6pm then Neighbours at 6.30pm and then Home and Away at 7pm every night.

Which Home and Away character have you loved watching through the years?

Back in the day, my favourite characters was Vinnie Patterson [Ryan Kwanten], as well as the Belle Taylor [Jessica Tovey] and Aden Jefferies [Todd Lasance] storyline.

Tell us about your character Eden?

Eden is a wild child, full of fire and fun. She is fiercely loyal, speaks her mind and her greatest loves are music and her friends and family.

What do you get up to away from the set?

I love running, yoga, making music, hanging with my mates, reading books, going for hikes, beach trips, eating food. I FaceTime with friends and family back in Melbourne, too.

Congratulations on your role as Bob. What can you tell us about him?

Bob is wants it all; fame, glory, and artistic integrity.

You've done a lot of theater. How different do you find TV, and Home and Away in particular?

The main difference I've found moving between theatre and TV is there aren't two thousand people standing and clapping for you when you finish a day's work on set. The fundamentals of storytelling stay the same, the stage craft is different because your audience is a camera lens only a few feet away.

What do you get up to in your spare time?

I'm from the county originally so away from work you'll find me trying to bust out of the city and get back to the bush. I love travelling back to my home state of Tasmania, and generally getting into nature wherever I am.

What are you watching on TV? Which actors do you look up to?

I've got an eclectic TV watching pattern. I like everything from Grand Designs to Ozark? speaking of which, Jason Bateman can do no wrong in my book.

Angelina Thomson

Welcome to the show! You have a background in music, opera and theatre. How different is this experience?

Although there are many differences, I have learnt there are also so many similarities where my theatre training has come very useful on set! I think most actors are open to go into TV. Being versatile is the best way to keep learning, creating, evolving and staying in work.

Does your musical background help to portray your character Kirby?

For sure! I grew up playing violin and saxophone, was in my school Funk Band and studied Music Theatre, which all helped big time. Also, being Polynesian, music is a massive part of my culture.

Describe Kirby?

In a sense, she is like the ocean... wild, passionate, playful, creative, effervescent and simultaneously calm and loving.

Who have you bonded with on set?

The band as a whole have grown very close as we got to enter this exciting world of Home and Away together! It feels like we were all paddling and caught a party wave with one another! I also love working with Ethan Browne (who plays Tane Parata).

Whenever we see each other at work, we greet one another in Māori or Cook Island Māori which is so very special to me!

Congratulations on the role. When did you find out that you got the job?

You were once a keen footballer. What made you turn to the arts?

Whilst at Uni and still playing footy I realised I hadn't been playing music live for some time and really missed the performance element in my life. So, I decided to go and try some acting classes at my local theatre back. I was hooked by the storytelling and I wanted to pursue it seriously. So, after backpacking Europe I moved to Melbourne and swapped the Sherrin for Stanislavsky.

Describe your character Remi?

Remi Carter is the quintessential Australian larrikin. He enjoys a good time and stirring the pot but is loyal to his friends and family.

Which actors do you look up to?

As an Aussie actor I've always admired Joel Edgerton and the body of work he's created.

A rift is caused between Lyrik

It's official! Lyrik have traded a life on the road for a life in Summer Bay. But not everyone is ready for the move, causing a huge rift in the band. Will they break up?

After a huge reopening at Salt, Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) is keen to hear more from the band. This week in Home and Away, she tempts them with a weekly gig. It's regular income and decent hours, more than they've had for some time.

Remi (Adam Rowland) and Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) are thrilled ? but lead singer Bob (Rob Mallet) rejects the idea instantly: "Lyrik don't play in hick towns" he retorts.

As tensions boil over, Kirby (Angelina Thomson) remains quiet. She wants to stay in Summer Bay but is too timid to speak against her boyfriend, Bob. With the band unable to come to an agreement, Bob storms out and Felicity in the lurch.

In a heart-to-heart with Kirby, Felicity offers to sweeten the deal to make them stay. Kirby admits she wants too ? but can she convince Bob?

Meanwhile, Theo (Matt Evans) watches the band in awe. Seeing them play at Salt reignited his passion for music. But when Chloe (Sam Barrett) remarks on how much fun he has playing guitar, he shuts her down.

His father dismissed his talent. He'll never be good enough to pursue his dream.

Back at the Parata household, Kirby tries one more time to gently woo Bob into staying. Instead, he shocks her by suggesting they ditch Eden and Remi for a new life together. They can make music anywhere, so let's go!

"Bob isn't a fan of the small town vibes like Summer Bay," Angelina tells TV WEEK. "So Kirby is stuck between a rock a hard place."

Home and Away's Kirby Aramoana looks set to make a big decision over her future with Theo Poulos, as ongoing secrecy threatens to tear them apart.

Recent episodes in Australia have seen Theo pursue a relationship with his Lyrik bandmate after splitting from Chloe Anderson, who has left the Bay for good.

Kirby and Theo felt under pressure to keep their romantic connection under wraps, as the rest of Lyrik had banned hook-ups within the group.

Unable to resist temptation, Kirby and Theo decided to keep seeing each other in secret ? but this approach has quickly caused problems.

In Tuesday's episode on Channel 7 in Australia (August 30), Kirby made a drastic attempt to keep covering their tracks.

Fearful that Lyrik's guitarist Remi Carter was growing suspicious, Kirby created a distraction by encouraging Theo to flirt with another woman at Salt.

As Theo reluctantly obliged, Kirby upped the ante by texting him and urging him to kiss his admirer for Remi's benefit.

Theo refused and was honest with the other woman, admitting that he was crazy about someone else.

Later, Theo confided in Justin Morgan about the drama and admitted that he was uncomfortable with Kirby's games earlier on.

Theo then approached Kirby himself, hinting that they were now at a crossroads.

He explained: "There's only one person who I want to kiss. I thought that we were in this together. But if we're not and this is all just a game to you, I need you to tell me right now."

Later this week at Australian pace, Kirby realises the secrecy and games can't go on, so she kisses Theo in front of Remi and their other bandmate Eden Fowler.

While Theo suspects Bob's intentions, he trusts Kirby and wants to give her space to clear the air with her ex. So when Bob asks out Kirby for a drink, a respectful Theo gives her the chance to resolve things ? even if it means she'll miss Lyrik's radio premiere.

"Kirby is initially very taken aback when Bob reaches out to her to meet up," Angelina says. "But considering the way things ended, she's eager to get closure and put the whole thing behind her."

Although Theo could see what might happen a mile away, Kirby is shocked when Bob admits he's not over her.

"She cares for Bob very much ? they have many happy experiences and memories together," Angelina says. "However, she feels so lucky to now be in a healthy, awesome relationship with Theo. There's no way she's going to throw that away."

Unhappy with being knocked back, Bob turns his attention to Theo and, during a competitive game of pool, tries to throw Theo by telling him Kirby is just having a fling with him and she'll eventually come crawling back to him.

He's lying, but it has an effect.

"Theo definitely lets Bob get the better of him and believes there could be a chance history will repeat and Kirby will go back to Bob," Matt explains. "It's hard to erase the history the couple has had together."

Home and Away's Remi Carter has started to doubt his relationship with Bree Cameron, as the show's sinister kidnap storyline continues.

Last year, the show's Australian episodes saw Remi enter into a relationship with Bree after supporting her through her ordeal with her abusive husband Jacob.

In the build-up to the 2022 season finale, events took an unsettling turn as Jacob returned to Summer Bay and forced Bree to leave with him against her will.

Wednesday's episode on Channel 7 in Australia (January 11) confirmed Bree's whereabouts for the first time.

Jacob was forcing Bree to camp with him in a remote location, aware that the police were looking for him.

Back in Summer Bay, a worried Remi decided to hire a private detective to help find Bree. Although he knew the police were overseeing the case, he hoped an extra pair of eyes would help.

An initial meeting with the private detective didn't go as Remi had hoped, as he was questioned over the nature of his relationship with Bree.

Not totally buying Remi's version of events, the PI pointed out that he could come across as a jealous ex, who's unable to accept Bree's "decision" to return to her husband.

Although this is far from the case, Remi started to question Bree's commitment to their relationship, wondering whether her lack of contact was because she now genuinely wanted to move on.

Remi's friend and Lyrik bandmate Kirby Aramoana was sceptical, reminding him: "From what you told me, she was scared. It's not like she had a choice."

Remi replied: "What if she changed her mind? He said it happens all the time. I didn't think it was a possibility, but if it is, she's dumped me. I guess that means she's still alive."

At the makeshift camp site, Bree tried to write a note that Remi could one day find, but she was quickly rumbled by Jacob in another worrying cliffhanger. It's clear that Remi has given up hope too soon, but what does the future hold for Bree?

Home and Away's Eden Fowler has promised to make a change in her friendship with Remi Carter after complaints from her boyfriend Cash Newman.

Eden and Cash recently became an official couple in Australian-pace episodes, but tensions over Remi have provided a new hurdle for their relationship.

Last week, Cash became distant and awkward after overhearing Remi teasing Eden over a romantic gift that she'd received from the Summer Bay policeman.

However, when Eden pointed out that Remi's own love interest Bree Cameron could feel similarly insecure in the future, the Lyrik bandmates decided that it was time to make a change.

Eden later told Cash: "Remi is my best friend in the entire world and nothing will ever change that. He has been my rock for a very long time, I tell him everything and friendships like that, they don't come around that often. He's really important to me.

"But you are in my world now ? and Remi and I, we need some boundaries. To be clear, I'm not doing this because you asked, I'm doing it because I think it's right."

Home and Away's Kirby Aramoana has vowed to quit Lyrik in the show's latest Australian episodes.

Kirby shared her big decision in Wednesday's double bill of episodes on Channel 7 (August 9), after receiving a tempting offer to go solo.

The talented musician recently had a secret meeting with record label executive Forrest, who works exclusively with solo artists.

Forrest offered to sign Kirby up for a lucrative deal, on the condition that she'd quit Lyrik to concentrate on a solo career.

The timing came as Kirby was already questioning her future in the band.

Working with Lyrik had been awkward for Kirby after she split from lead singer Theo Poulos, causing tensions between them.

Kirby also felt undervalued by her bandmates, noting that she took on most of the songwriting and publicity responsibilities but received little gratitude from anyone.

Theo, Remi Carter and Eden Fowler all struggled when word reached them that Kirby was likely to quit.

While Remi and Eden opposed Kirby's plans, Theo took a more selfless approach by encouraging her to do what was right for her.

In the end, Kirby visited band manager Justin Morgan at his home and confirmed that it was the end of her time in Lyrik.

Theo, who'd overheard Kirby and Justin's conversation from his bedroom, also wanted to clear his head and decided to spend some time away visiting his mum.

Kirby's decision leaves Lyrik with an uncertain future, as the band must now choose whether to continue as a trio or not.

Eden takes the news particularly badly, which could leave her friendship with Kirby on rocky ground.

Kirby said her goodbyes to Lyrik after meetings with record label executive Forrest Duke, who works exclusively with solo artists.

Once Kirby jumped ship, the remaining Lyrik members learned that copyright restrictions would ban them from performing any songs that she'd been involved in writing.

This blocked off the vast majority of Lyrik's back catalogue, putting them at risk of becoming a covers group at their gigs for the foreseeable future.

When Remi witnessed this secret meeting, he felt betrayed by Theo and later lost control by punching him in the face.

This horrified Remi's girlfriend Bree Cameron, who understandably has strong feelings about violence after her abusive relationship with her husband Jacob.

Bree told Remi: "I saw an ugly side to you today that I didn't know existed. That's not the man I want to be with."

However, just when it seemed that the chaos could spell the end of Lyrik and Remi's relationship too, Theo made an unexpected move to restore peace.

Theo told Justin that he wanted to remain in the band rather than becoming a solo artist. He then accepted a sincere apology from Remi, before vowing to stick with Lyrik come what may.

Bree was relieved to see the bandmates make amends, but does this mean the group can salvage their future or are there more twists still to come?

Tuesday's episode on Channel 7 in Australia saw Kirby finally win over her former bandmate Remi Carter, who'd been sceptical over her decision to stage a comeback.

Last week, Kirby's solo career got off to a flying start as she performed at a well-received showcase event, which was organised by her new manager, Forrest Duke.

Sadly for Forrest's big plans, Kirby soon realised that performing without her Lyrik bandmates felt too strange, and she wanted to return to the group instead.

Kirby's sudden u-turn sparked plenty of fresh problems, as Forrest refused to let her walk away from the contract she'd signed to become a solo artist.

Fearing yet another change of heart from Kirby, Remi also accused her of throwing away an amazing opportunity and refused to be part of any Lyrik reboot.

However, in Tuesday's episode, Kirby proved her commitment to Lyrik by making a big announcement on social media about her return.

Kirby told her excited fans that she'd be returning to Lyrik, hoping that the public pressure would force Forrest to back down over her contract.

Remi was also reminded of what was important when he learned that Lyrik's manager, Justin Morgan, was fighting for his life in hospital after a scary kidnap ordeal.

Theo Poulos suggested: "The band should get back together ? for Justin."

Remi agreed to get back on guitar duties, telling the others: "Okay, give me that thing. Lyrik rises again!"

With nothing but the open road and time to think, Remi heads off to collect his friend. But en route, he's struck by a car hurtling towards him with two men tussling behind the wheel. Thrown from his bike, Remi lies motionless.

"After a collision like that, it would seem entirely likely no-one would survive," Adam says.

In an upcoming UK episode, Kirby keeps a bedside vigil for the hospitalised Remi Carter while he fights for his life after a motorbike accident. Looking to give him strength, she sings in the native language.

"Although I can understand more than I can speak, I didn't grow up speaking Cook Island Māori fluently. My mum taught me the hula, I listened to her speak the Reo and she often played Cook Island music at home and in the car but I never really made an effort to learn the language as a kid... Which I'm sure many biracial folks share this same feeling of regret I have now.

"Because of this, I was so nervous to shoot this scene," the soap star admitted. "It wasn't about the singing or the acting... I was nervous that my pronunciation was wrong and I'd mix up the words.

"I don't think I've ever felt more vulnerable performing than this day. It felt like I was shedding layers to reveal more of Angelina rather than wearing more of them to create a character. It felt important. To the storyline. To my culture. To me as a biracial woman now. To baby Angelina never seeing that on TV and in movies. To future Polynesian kids seeing themselves."

Thomson chose to publicly mention this because she's "certain there are so many other biracial/mixed folks who understand the feeling of displacement around language. Or even the nerves of not saying the things you do know correctly.

"It can be a lot. I understand!" she added. "I still have so much to learn about my beautiful Cook Island culture and I'm sure that will never end. But I'm excited for this journey! Being able to represent the Cook Islands and Polynesia like this... I am so very proud."

After a hit-and-run almost claimed his life, Remi is finally on the mend.

But his stubborn reluctance to accept help could derail his recovery ? and send him straight back to hospital.

In Home And Away this week, Remi (Adam Rowland) ? who was injured and left to die when his motorbike and a car collided in the 2023 season finale ? has been discharged from hospital.

He's settling in at home with the help of his Lyrik bandmates Kirby (Angelina Thomson) and Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) while his girlfriend Dr Bree (Juliet Godwin) is visiting her ill father.

"Traumatic blunt-force trauma to the heart left Remi with serious internal haemorrhaging," Adam tells TV WEEK. "Only by sheer luck is Dr Levi Fowler [Tristan Gorey] in town, and he acts quickly to perform an emergency cardiac thoracotomy, an operation with a 20 per cent survival rate."

Despite his progress, Remi has been warned to take things slowly and constantly monitor his pain, which Bree has also insisted he do. But when she telephones him for an update, Remi, who doesn't want her to worry, lies that he's still in hospital.

"Remi has been through quite a lot in his time in Summer Bay ? he's learnt to ride the highs and lows of relationships and how to support close friends through any dilemma," Adam says of his character's protective nature.

When Kirby and Eden, baffled by his lie, question their friend, Remi flies off the handle, telling them to "back off" and mind their business. While neither feel good about lying to Bree, who'd specifically asked to be updated ? as both a partner and doctor ? they opt not to tell her the truth.

Throughout the day, however, Remi's pain escalates. Kirby and Eden urge him to call Bree, but he again refuses. Seeing him hot, sweating and writhing in pain on the bathroom floor, his friends know they only have minutes before he's in serious trouble.

With no choice, Eden makes a phone call that could save his life. Will Remi be OK?

A soap star will return to two of her great loves when she takes to the stage in Broadway classic Guys and Dolls - musical theatre, and working with her husband.

In recent years, Angelina Thomson has been on the small screen as Kirby Aramoana on hit Australian soap Home and Away.

Insider can reveal Thomson is returning to her musical theatre roots with her upcoming turn as Miss Adelaide in Opera Australia's new production of Guys and Dolls on Sydney Harbour.

She will appear in the production alongside her husband Lachlan Dearing, who will perform in the musical ensemble on the back of touring with Hamilton.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to play this character, it's really fun that this is my first show back after three years on Home and Away and it's going to be fun to jump back into theatre this way," Thomson said.

"Miss Adelaide is such a funny, funny character - she's big, she's unapologetic, she is proud of how much space she takes up, and I'm really excited to be able to play this role."

The musical, set in 1950s Manhattan, tells a tale of gambling rogues, dazzling showgirls, and unlikely love stories - this time, against the extraordinary backdrop of Sydney Harbour with Handa Opera.

Miss Adelaide is a put-upon New York showgirl with a persistent head cold who has been waiting 14 years for her fiance - the male lead and chronic gambler Nathan - to marry her.

The role was first made famous on both stage and screen by Hollywood legend Vivian Blaine.

"Miss Adelaide offers so much comedic relief in the storyline, so being able to tell her story in that way is going to be something I've not done before," Thomson said.

"I'm really excited to step into her shoes."

Thomson has also previously performed in A Chorus Line, West Side Story, Rent, Carole King musical Beautiful, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Ragtime after studying musical theatre at Griffith University's Queensland Conservatorium.

It was on the set of A Chorus Line that Thomson met her now husband.

Dearing has most recently played the first American Episcopalian bishop Samuel Seabury - the rival to Alexander Hamilton - in the 2024 Australian cast of Hamilton, and was previously in the cast of Hi 5.

"We did A Chorus Line together, we just started off hanging out and chatting, we fell in love with the ocean so we went to the beach and hung out - Angelina is very talented, jot that down," Dearing laughed.

"It was so nice, we went from friends into partners - it's so cool, and literally for the last three years, we've been saying we're so excited to do a show together, and we're back again way sooner than we both really thought we would be."

It is a welcome departure from stints of long distance and opposing schedules while the couple individually pursued their creative dreams.

"Angelina is waking up at 5 or 6am for TV, I'm getting home at 11pm for theatre, so we're very excited to car pool to set instead of trying to fly to each other?s states, the car pooling is something we're very excited about," Dearing said.

"It's just so cool to watch your best friend do their thing and I get to watch it live, which is going to be very cool - side stage, best seat in the house."
"Being together again in a show is the dream," Thomson added.

The pair have enjoyed every part of the shared process, from preparing together for auditions to rehearsing for the show.

The pair went away for a weekend before their auditions to prepare together, with Dearing quipping he was coming for the role of Nathan - Thomson's character's romantic interest.

"It's special because we're best friends - we go surfing together, then we come home and we learn lines, then we play show tunes, then we'll go for a walk on the beach," Thomson said.

"It's thrilling to be able to do a show together again, that's for sure."

Dearing added: "It's also nice that we've been able to reflect on each other's lives and careers for the last three years, and being impressed by what we each do, but it?s going to be very special to do the same thing."

Thomson and Dearing will be joined in a star-studded cast by recording artist and Commonwealth Games medal-winning swimmer Cody Simpson as Sky Masterson, Annie Aitken as Sarah Brown, Bobby Fox as Nathan Detroit, and Hamilton star Jason Arrow as Nicely Nicely Johnson.

Now one of Broadway's defining musicals, Guys and Dolls debuted in New York City in 1950, before continuing on for 1200 performances and winning the Tony Award for Best Musical.

The last time a major production of the musical visited Sydney was 2009.

"Being in the theatre feels like more of a sacred space, it's really ritualistic," Thomson said.

"I'm really excited to be able to do a show that's based in New York City - we went to New York when Lachlan was rehearsing Hamilton over there, and just walking the streets of New York as two little theatre nerds was amazing, and to be a part of this show is going to be awesome."

Thomson said taking to the theatre stage again for Guys and Dolls would mark a change of pace from the small screen for Home and Away, which was another lifelong dream.

"Home and Away was a massive dream for me, I grew up watching the show and it's a dream for a lot of actors in Australia, so it was so exciting," Thomson said.

'Being able to share experiences with a live audience, the adrenaline rush, is really different, but TV and film was also always a massive goal, and being on Home and Away for this long has been a dream come true."

To be part of one of musical theatre's most classic productions is also a significant draw for the couple of self-professed theatre nerds.

"I think what we realise now is everything is really achievable, it's all closer than I think you realise," Thomson said.

"When we went to New York, we've got lots of friends over there now that are on Broadway - you think of it as a fictional land, but seeing a lot of our friends from Australia killing overseas on Broadway and the West End, touring everywhere, makes it all feel more achievable and I think we have this hunch we want to go over there and do that at some point."

Home and Away star Angelina Thomson is returning to musical theatre in a new production of Guys & Dolls.

Thomson ? who has been playing Kirby Aramoana on the soap since 2022 ? has been announced in the role of Miss Adelaide in the musical, running between March 21 and April 20 at Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour.

Shared on Instagram, a first-look picture of Thomson as Miss Adelaide sees the soap star in a voluminous red dress inspired by the 1950s aesthetics of the popular musical.

Thomson has previously appeared in theatre productions, including West Side Story on Sydney Harbor, Rent and A Chorus Line.

Her role on Guys & Dolls will be extra special for Thomson, who will work alongside her partner Lachlan Dearing.

Dearing, who's also been cast in the musical, commented on the role announcement, writing: "There she is!!! MA GURRLLLLL! So proud!!"

It isn't clear whether Thomson is leaving the role of Kirby in Home and Away or just taking a break to appear in the theatre production.

Kirby arrived in Summer Bay in 2022 with her band Lyrik, in which she played the keyboards.

Other members of the group included Eden Fowler, Remi Carter and new lead singer Theo Poulos, with Theo and Kirby starting a relationship soon after.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first-look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7Plus.
