From digital spy soap scoop section.
ITV’s cop drama is set for a busy couple of weeks at the end of this month/beginning of September. During weeks 35 and 36, The Bill will air three episodes in each week. How many fans out there would welcome it three times a week permanently?

its great its on 3 days rather than 2 and id love it to stay as 3 but some shows go down hill after the shows increase but i think it would be great if it stayed as 3

3 days!!! yey yey yey... the storylines should be really good for those then...aren't they doing another live eipsode in september? i can't wait for that...
cool, i think they should be able to get away with it
how come they r having 3 hours a week, is it to substitute for when they start showing champions league on wed nights

no it says in the top post its due to heavy storylines coming up
I wonder what day the extra episode will be on?

it has been on tuesday before so it might be then
I doubt they'll want to clash with 'Holby City' :)
The other optionS ar Friday and Monday but at what time, they wont want to clash with EE if they start it at 8
There isn't really a lot of space left in primetime on weeknights. The big 3 soaps take up most of the slots and what's left goes to 'Holby City' and 'The Bill' :)

I can see that the Bill needs time to catch up.
With the amount of award ceremonies and sporting moments this year there have been many weeks where TB has just been shown once. This has caused Aus to catch up a lot.
Maybe the initial 3 times a week thingy is partly to bring UK back to the original scheduling.
ALSO remember that a certain character is to leave soon and they might need the 3 per week to get the whole storyline unravelled in time for their exit.
NO NAMES as this is not a spoiler thread... but you know who I mean.

OO and a thought.... maybe the third ep will be a later ep ie post watershed... that would be excellent if TB were allowed to effectively be 'grown up' Would open up some great opportunities that usually are denied the drama due to its scheduled output time.
If you recall.. Carvers exit episode was a later night one. So maybe they could do Wed 8-9 Thurs 8-9 Thurs 10-11 Ooo the possibilites for a late nighter.

i think it would be great, as long as the three hours a week wern't only about a few people, it should be full of everyone, yay the bill :cheer:

the tunnels stuff was a year ago wasnt it as i think it happened in march some time
I'm looking forward to it being on 3 times in the week and I would imagine it would be on Tuesdays as it always used to be on on Tues and Thurs. I don't think I would want it to be 3 times a week full time though, because TB is a fantastic drama which I have watched for many years and is the only thing that I can't fast forward through, but I don't want it turning into a soap, which it could be at risk of doing if it starts airing 3 or more times a week permanently....having the occasional 3 times at times when a major storyline is being focussed on (as they have done in the past) is the best way to do it, like they are...

It's good when it goes back to its roots but some of the storylines are just too soap-like. It's more a mixture of both at the moment although maybe the drama will become stronger again when the new 'Executive Producer' takes over :searchme: following the departure of sensationalist Paul Marquess.
Thats what I'm hoping for, though I don't want to go back to the days where there was a completely different story for each episode there didn't seem to be too much continuity then....
Though I don't like the drawn out plots either (Cathy Bradford, Gabriel Kent, etc ).
At the moment in The Bill each episode takes place immediately after the events in the previous episode or else the day after the events of the previous episodes.. what this means is that say you watch all the eps of the Bill in August (about 9 episodes) in 'Bill' time that is only 9 days. take that over the whole year of eps and it is only around 108 days.. The continuity of The Bill is all wrong.. For instance when okaro's family died he was back in work after 5 episodes.. which was in 'Bill' time only 3 days.. thats stupid.. So maybe having it on more days a week will make sense.
another thing... in 'Bill' time the sun hill explosion only really happened 6 weeks ago.

Bill time works in mysterious ways as we all know. For instance Smithy and Louise have been together long enough now to be in love.
Occasionally it works in continuity and the following episode IS the next day or later that day or directly after the prev events but there is no cut and dried here.
TB skips around and sometimes there are weeks between events. It all depends.
i can't wait! but i go out on tuesdays, so i'll have to watch it another time :(
can't wait to see the extra epi's though!
The Bill is really back on form following the departure of PM and with the imminent demise of the chimp i think it can manage 3 nights a week
who's PM? sorry, having a forgetful moment!
