Coronation Street has officially welcomed Rebecca Ryan onto the cast ? sister of Jacob Hay actor Jack James Ryan.
Recognised for turns in Casualty, Shameless and Waterloo Road, the 30-year-old's character Lydia is set to arrive in Weatherfield on Friday, December 10 ? entering the Sarah and Adam Barlow plot.
In the episode, Sarah attends a meeting with client Gavin and his PA, Lydia, but as they strike a deal, the latter notices Sarah's unwell appearance, wondering whether she could be pregnant.
When Sarah later reveals to Adam that there's a chance she's carrying a baby, he's ecstatic over the prospect as this'll cement their future together.
The soap previously teased Lydia's arrival and suggested she will be around for a whole, revealing that when Sarah discovers that Lydia plays a part in Adam's past, a black cloud could ruin their sunshine.
In other news, Waterloo Road is being revived by the BBC six years on from its cancellation.
Piers Wenger, Director of BBC Drama, shared in a statement: "Waterloo Road is the perfect lens through which to explore post-COVID Britain, from the perspective of those who have arguably been affected most: young people in education.
"We are thrilled to be returning to this brilliant format ? its thrills and spills, unmissable characters and high drama ? at a time when audiences across Britain need it most, and to be collaborating with the brilliant [executive producer] Cameron Roach and Wall To Wall on its return."
"The vital and urgent stories that are playing out in schools across the UK provide incredible and emotionally powerful themes, that we?re excited to bring to a new generation of fans," added Roach himself.
The upcoming 11th series will be based and filmed in Greater Manchester.

Casualty star Rebecca Ryan is soon to set foot on the cobbles in Coronation Street and the ITV soap has just released a first-look picture of her character.
Ryan ? whose brother and actor Jack James Ryan already starred on Corrie as Jacob Hay ? is joining the long-running series as Lydia.
She is to make her first appearance in Weatherfield on Friday, December 10 in a scene of Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and Adam Barlow's (Sam Robertson) latest storyline.
In this first look shot, Sarah can be seen wearing quite a smart outfit as she attends a Christmas market wearing a red velour co-ord set and a black blazer. The attire suits her character who is the PA to Gavin, one of Sarah's clients.
In the upcoming episode in which Lydia will be introduced, Sarah attends a meeting with Gavin and as they strike a deal, Lydia notices that Sarah looks unwell and wonders whether she might be pregnant.
Later, Sarah reveals to Adam that she may be carrying a baby. Adam is ecstatic over the news, thinking the prospect of having a child together will cement their long-term future as a couple.
But, in addition to spotting Sarah's pregnancy, Coronation Street previously teased that Lydia will be hanging around for a while.
ITV revealed that Lydia played a role in Adam's past. And while bosses didn't give any further details as to what the nature of their connection was, the soap teased that a black cloud could ruin Sarah and Adam's sunshine.
As well as playing Gemma Dean on the BBC medical drama, Ryan had roles in Shameless and Waterloo Road.

As the war for who gets the official title of Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard)?s girlfriend hots up in Coronation Street there are two contenders ? Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and Lydia Chambers (Rebecca Ryan).
Since Daisy first appeared in Weatherfield she?s already proved that she has a fiery side, as we saw when she managed to split up Ryan (Ryan Prescott) and Alya (Sair Khan).
As for Lydia, she?s currently more of an unknown quantity, but she?s already caused trouble between Adam (Sam Robertson) and Sarah (Tina O?Brien) and she seems to be a person who is determined to get her own way.
Recently Lydia?s relationship with Daniel has been going well, as it?s based on a mutual attraction and shared interests.
Upcoming episodes will see Daisy coming back into the equation when she defends Daniel?s reputation when Lydia hears about the false accusations made against him about Summer (Harriet Bibby).
When Daniel hears about this, he and Daisy share a bit of a moment and Daisy asks him out for a drink. Lydia is not happy to see the two of them together ? but how far is she willing to go to get Daisy out of Daniel?s life?

Is she another Meena suddenly acting violently and destructively? I cannot fathom out why she would be attacking Adam and Sarah like that just because Adam has moved on and did not regard their relationship too highly... ?? :hmm:

Coronation Street schemer Lydia Chambers will be leaving the show at the end of her current storyline.
Former Waterloo Road and Shameless star Rebecca Ryan, who plays Lydia, filmed her final scenes for the ITV soap early last month.
Digital Spy understands that Lydia will remain on screen for a few more weeks, with more drama to come in her storyline with Adam Barlow.
It was always the plan for Lydia to be on the show for this finite period of time, as her character was brought in specifically for the Adam and Sarah plot.
Corrie viewers have recently seen Lydia destroy the Barlows' marriage by falsely claiming that she has been having an affair with Adam.
Lydia's elaborate scheme to trap Adam currently has Sarah totally fooled. However, upcoming episodes will see Adam start to fight back as he frantically tries to defend himself.
Rebecca recently hinted that viewers could see another side of Lydia as the story continues in the coming weeks.
Asked whether Lydia can redeem herself, Rebecca told Digital Spy and other media: "I'd like to think so. Towards the end of the storyline, you do see a different side to her, you don't just see her ruining Adam's life for no reason.
"You can sort of get why she's doing it and hopefully people will start to see that and have a bit of sympathy for her and start to realise she's not a bad person at all, she's actually a nice person but has been hurt very badly.
"Hopefully, that will come across."
Sam Robertson, who plays Adam, added: "I think the trouble with this situation is that Adam is in the dark. He's confused as to why this woman is on such a mission against him and doesn't understand why or what the reasons are.
"Only when he finally does understand the reasons, you'll find out if he's given the opportunity to make amends. I can't say too much."
