Neighbours will introduce a brand-new character named Freya next year, portrayed by Phoebe Roberts.

An official announcement was posted on the Australian soap's Twitter yesterday (October 30), reading: "Here's something exciting for you [star emoji] The very talented Phoebe Roberts is joining our regular cast! Keep your eyes peeled for Freya early next year #Neighbours."

Nothing is known about this Ramsay Street newcomer, and the fact the character's surname is unspecified has inspired fans to come up with a number of theories.

One responder on social media suggested Freya could be Nicolette Stone's ex-partner, as "she loves a leather jacket too".

"I'm guessing relation to Sheila....... Or... Amy..." and "Ex of Nicolette's?" read two more tweets.

Some readers may recognise Roberts from her time on Channel 5's Lie With Me, where she played Becky Hart opposite EastEnders favourite Charlie Brooks' protagonist Anna Fallmont.

Neighbours has confirmed further details about new regular character Freya, who will make her debut on the soap early next year.

Freya, who will be the first new regular character to join the show since Nicolette Stone (Charlotte Chimes) arrived last year, was first revealed to be heading to Ramsay Street over the weekend.

While fans have been busy speculating over what Freya's surname could be and how this may relate to other characters, the mystery has now been solved as Neighbours has confirmed it is Wozniak

But whilst she doesn't share a surname with any current characters, that doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility that she may have a connection with an Erinsborough regular, so fans will have to wait to find out more about Freya.

The soap has, however, teased a couple of details, revealing that she is "the ultimate mystery girl", "keeps her cards close to her chest" and that she is "not afraid to bend the rules".

It sounds as if Freya could be causing some trouble...

The new face will be played by Melbourne-born star Phoebe Roberts, who appeared in Channel 5 thriller Lie With Me earlier this year alongside EastEnders' Charlie Brooks.

The actress has said that she is "so thrilled to be joining the Ramsay St family", adding: "Neighbours is such a huge part of the Australian film and TV industry, it's very exciting to be involved in something so iconic that is also so loved in the UK. As a kid, I tuned in to watch all the drama of Erinsborough unfold, it's surreal to now be a part of that drama!"

Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison, who also produced Lie With Me, said: "We were all blown away by Phoebe's performance in Lie With Me and knew Ramsay Street had to be her next stop. We've created a fascinating character for her that is complex, mysterious and a risk taker, she's going to be a lot of fun and Phoebe has already nailed the role."

Phoebe began filming her first scenes last week and she will make her debut on our screens in early 2022.

Freya (Phoebe Roberts) is dating Levi Canning (Richie Morris), although she's also hiding a secret or two at the same time, appearing to be on the search for a mystery man.

In upcoming scenes on Channel 5 and 10 Peach, Levi, Freya, and several other Ramsay Street residents enjoy a friendly cricket match on the street.

It's during this match that Levi finds out Freya is looking for somebody she claims to be her cousin.

Freya's story is a little strange, but Levi is smitten by her and the chemistry that they share causes him to put aside his doubts.

But Roxy (Zima Anderson) isn't completely convinced...

The following day, Freya tries to persuade an initially reluctant Levi into letting her ride in a police car. Levi eventually gives in and agrees, and the pair have another great date.

However, Freya's true intentions over the joyride become clear to the viewer when Levi's back is turned.

Levi doesn't spot Freya's actions, but Roxy does ? and it results in her wondering just what Freya is doing with Levi.

When Roxy brings up the subject of his girlfriend to Levi, it's clear that Levi doesn't care and is falling for Freya. Will Roxy let this go?

Neighbours newcomer Freya Wozniak looks set to continue her mysterious behaviour by secretly researching Levi Canning's past.

Freya, played by Phoebe Roberts, has arrived in Erinsborough on a mission to track down a mystery man, who she claims is her cousin.

Viewers recently saw Freya ask Ned Willis (Ben Hall) if he'd ever seen her "relative" before, making out that they'd lost touch. However, she hasn't spoken to Levi about her intentions so far, and it's unclear whether this man is really her cousin.

Neighbours' end-of-episode promo on Thursday's edition on Channel 5 (January 27) featured footage of Freya continuing to grow closer to Levi (Richie Morris).

When Freya sees Levi's medication in upcoming scenes, he opens up to her about his epilepsy.

Levi also explains how he was diagnosed with the condition after being attacked by thugs when he was younger.

Neighbours' trailer showed that Freya is clearly interested in this, later taking the opportunity to secretly put "Levi Canning assault" into Google.

Why is Freya so interested in Levi and how does this fit with her overall mission? All will be revealed.

Show bosses have previously tipped Freya as one to watch in the coming weeks, as her mysterious behaviour builds up to a big storyline.

"Secret Motive

Newcomer Freya's true intentions are revealed.

Levi is determined to learn more about Freya. During a friendly cricket match in Ramsay Street, Freya comes clean, admitting the reason she came to town. She is looking for her missing cousin, whose scarf Ned was wearing in photos at Kyle and Roxy's wedding.

Levi isn't happy and is annoyed. He is tired of being played and lied to, by people he begins to like.

Acknowledging their undeniable chemistry, Levi decides to leave that behind them and takes Freya on a joyride in the police vehicle. But when he ducks out for some lunch, Freya uses the opportunity to go through the police database to look for information on her cousin's whereabouts. Unfortunately, Roxy spots her.

Freya is exposed and terrified. She feels her cover is blown and is desperate for Roxy to keep the information between them. Freya's selfish intentions aside, she's scared of jeopardising Levi's career. He doesn't deserve that.

Neighbours' Freya Wozniak attacks Roxy Willis after Roxy breaks into her house in next week's episodes.

Freya (Phoebe Roberts) has started dating Levi Canning (Richie Morris) but has a hidden agenda, appearing to be on the search for a mystery man. Roxy (Zima Anderson) becomes the only person suspicious over Freya, and this leads to a confrontation between the pair.

In upcoming scenes on Channel 5 and 10 Peach, Roxy is persuaded to get to know Freya better as she makes her suspicions heard, but the girl's day out only leaves Roxy with more questions than before.

Roxy asks Freya questions about her life but Freya continues to be vague, which only makes Roxy more determined to get to the bottom of what she's hiding.

Taking drastic measures, Roxy decides to break into Freya's home and climbs through a window.

Inside, Roxy is suddenly tackled to the floor by Freya, who grabs her large and rather threatening hunting knife (in a scene that was previously teased in the 2022 promo last month). Though the situation de-escalates, both are left shaken.

Freya doesn't respond well to the break-in and begins to push Levi away, while Roxy is more convinced than ever that Freya's keeping a big secret, although her concerns aren't taken seriously.

Levi is conflicted over whether he should give Freya space over what happened or to go and see her, and it looks like their romance begins to fizzle out.

Levi eventually arranges a romantic date and appears to win over Freya. But once again she remains mysterious and reluctant to discuss her life.

At the same time, Roxy persuades Harlow Robinson (Jemma Donovan) and Ned Willis (Ben Hall) to accompany her to the city of Benalla, where the Wozniaks are apparently from. The trio work on finding clues about Freya's life, but initially struggle to find any real leads.

Will Roxy find something in Benalla that will help to expose Freya's secret?

Since her arrival in Erinsborough last month, Freya (Phoebe Roberts) has been hiding her true intentions. She began dating Levi (Richie Morris) and used his position as a police constable to her advantage.

In upcoming scenes, after Levi offers support following the break-in by Roxy Willis (Zima Anderson), Freya decides to tell him everything.

Levi is stunned and hurt when he learns about the real reason Freya is in Erinsborough and the story behind her missing 'cousin' Gareth, who is actually her ex-boyfriend.

Freya admits to manipulating and stringing him along from the start, and Levi leaves heartbroken.

Levi is less than pleased later on, when Freya doesn't appear to be staying away from him.

Eventually, Roxy encourages Kyle Canning (Chris Milligan) to take Levi out on a day trip to help him move on from Freya.

But Levi struggles to get over what happened, and with all of his recent failed relationships including with Bea Nilsson, Amy Greenwood, and Felicity Higgins, he begins to wonder if he'll ever be lucky in love.

Later on, Levi learns that Freya has no plans leaving Erinsborough as she continues her mission to find Gareth, which frustrates him.

He then does some digging of his own without Freya's knowledge, and finds a potential lead on Gareth's whereabouts.

Levi investigates the lead, and he ends up drawn further into the potentially dangerous situation...

Neighbours' Freya Wozniak is taken hostage by her missing boyfriend Gareth Bateman as he resurfaces in dramatic scenes.

Since her arrival in Erinsborough, Freya (Phoebe Roberts) has been desperately trying to track down Gareth (Jack Pearson) ? who supposedly went into hiding so he wouldn't be found by corrupt cops.

In upcoming scenes, Levi Canning (Richie Morris) has a lead on Gareth's whereabouts and Ned Willis (Ben Hall) offers to look into it.

Ned takes Harlow Robinson (Jemma Donovan) with him, and the pair stake out the location.

They eventually spot Gareth, leading to a tense confrontation before Gareth insists on telling his side of the story.

Ned and Harlow return to Erinsborough just before several Ramsay Street residents (including Levi, Freya, Glen Donnelly, Nicolette Stone, and Aaron Brennan) embark on a getaway at River Bend. They tell Levi that Gareth told them he's actually on the run from Freya, not corrupt cops. According to him, Freya is a stalker.

Levi is left rattled and with a lot to think about, as everyone sets off for River Bend.

During the getaway, Ned and Harlow keep an eye on Freya which raises her suspicions.

Levi and Freya eventually have a tense confrontation where Levi tells her about what he learned about Gareth. Freya reacts furiously and denies being a stalker, claiming she has no idea why Gareth would make these accusations. She then storms off.

Levi is left alone in the aftermath of their argument when he is confronted by Gareth, who has a gun...

Gunshots are heard, causing confusion among the rest of the group. When Freya frantically tries to find Levi, she is stunned to see Gareth again. She stumbles across Levi's body, and is then taken hostage by Gareth.

Lives are in danger as Gareth makes his next move. What's the real story behind Gareth's disappearance, and will everyone survive?

Pictures offer a glimpse of what happens next. Levi appears to have survived being shot, after he was hit in the arm, and Gareth attempts to make an escape by forcing Freya to drive a van.

Aaron is also seen in the van, trying to free Freya. Can they both get away from Gareth?

Neighbours fans will see David Tanaka and Freya Wozniak finally face the music over Gareth Bateman's death next week.

The Erinsborough Hospital colleagues have spent the past few weeks covering their tracks after letting Gareth die when he was injured in a mini-bus crash during the River Bend trip.

In next week's episodes on Channel 5, the pressure becomes too much for David and Freya as their mystery blackmailer ups the ante.

With the anonymous note-sender now demanding cash, Freya turns to her estranged brother Zane to beg him for the money.

Zane, played by Oli Pizzey-Stratford, is initially torn over whether to help Freya. However, after hearing her emotional plea, he agrees to lend the money to her.

Unfortunately, even with the cash secured, it seems that Freya and David aren't out of their nightmare just yet.

Freya is furious with David when he keys Dean Covey's car, still believing him to be the blackmailer.

David changes approach by visiting Dean and asking him to stop playing games. Dean denies any knowledge of what David is talking about.

Realising that things are getting out of hand, David and Freya come clean to hospital boss Clive Gibbons about their actions.

Clive can't believe what they've both done, and when the police get involved, Levi Canning is shocked to realise that Freya has been lying to him yet again.

After undergoing tough questioning down at the police station, David and Freya also discover the identity of the blackmailer. They hope to bring him to justice, but it may be too late.

David and Freya are pleased to be surrounded by support after their big confessions. The only real exception is Levi, who's still struggling to forgive Freya.

A subsequent meeting with lawyers proves painful, as David and Freya are both advised to focus on their post-traumatic stress in their defence strategy.

The lawyers point out that this could excuse David and Freya for letting Gareth die, but will it be enough to save their jobs and keep them out of prison?

Neighbours' Freya Wozniak will consider a big move in upcoming episodes, as Levi Canning struggles to forgive her following her huge confession.

Hospital colleagues Freya (Phoebe Roberts) and David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) have been consumed by guilt ever since they decided not to treat the injuries of Freya's violent ex-boyfriend Gareth Bateman (Jack Pearson) during the River Bend trip, with their upset made worse by the fact that a mystery blackmailer has been sending them anonymous threatening notes demanding money.

This week (at UK pace), the pressure gets too much and Freya and David confess all about what happened to hospital boss Clive Gibbons (Geoff Payne).

After Clive gets the law involved, police officer Levi (Richie Morris) can't believe what he's learned and makes it clear that it will be hard for him to get past yet more lies from Freya.

In scenes airing later this month in the UK, and in May in Australia, Freya brings Levi a peace offering as she tries to make it up to him.

However, Levi feels too betrayed after all of her lies and he refuses to hear her out. After reflecting on their relationship, he concludes that she has caused him nothing but trouble and pain and he realises that he just can't forgive her.

Freya is devastated by his words, but Levi becomes ever more determined to move on from her.

As both Freya and David continue to spiral due to their fears over their futures, David's husband Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson) tries his best to keep things positive. Keen to help the pair, who face losing their jobs, Aaron gives Freya some work at The Shed and arranges for David to meet with Clive.

Sadly, Aaron's well-laid plans fall through and Freya starts to seriously consider leaving Erinsborough behind and returning to Echuca to be with her family.

It looks like it will take more than positivity to get Freya and David out of the mess that they've ended up in, but will Freya decide that it's all too much and that she really does need to get away from Ramsay Street?

There is further heartbreak in store for Harlow next week when Ned Willis (Ben Hall), who she has recently been exploring a romantic connection with, decides to leave Ramsay Street behind after their fling is unexpectedly exposed at Amy Greenwood's fashion show.

With the love triangle made public, Ned decides that things have got too messy and that he won't be able to make it work with Harlow or Amy (Jacinta Stapleton), opting instead to make a fresh start out of town.

Following Ned's departure, an emotional Harlow decides that she wants to reconnect with her family.

Unfortunately, scheming Corey steers Harlow away from them, still keen to succeed in his covert mission to recruit Harlow to the Restoration Order cult ? and he even tries to frame her for causing damage to Amy's van.

Eventually, Corey's manipulative behaviour begins to attract the suspicions of David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) ? but Corey is focused on bigger things.

The cult member has noticed that Freya Wozniak (Phoebe Roberts) is also going through a difficult time following her ordeal at the hands of her ex, Gareth Bateman, and the subsequent blackmail that she has had to deal with.

Is Freya about to wind up as Corey's second target, and will anyone be able to stop him?

The Ramsay Street trio will be held at gunpoint as dangerous Emma McIver continues to use David Tanaka's prison ordeal to her own advantage.

Viewers have already seen Emma promise to make sure David is kept safe in jail if Freya agrees to work for her.

Emma believes that Freya's nursing background could make her a useful person to call on if any criminal jobs go wrong.

In next week's episodes on Channel 5, Emma bursts into Number 24 while armed with a gun ? much to the horror of Freya and Kiri, who are both home.

Emma arrives with a criminal associate called Austin, who is badly injured.

Emma once again orders Freya to provide emergency medical treatment.

Freya tries to protest that Austin's injuries are too severe, but Emma refuses to listen and urges her to get to work.

Nicolette Stone soon walks into the danger zone by arriving at the house unannounced.

Emma believes she holds all the cards, as her criminal contact at the jail has David trapped and injured. She threatens David's life if the trio don't cooperate.

The girls realise they need to do something to take down Emma, so Nicolette distracts her and Freya tackles her to the ground.

With Emma subdued, it's only David left in danger. Will he survive?
